WHAT HAS LEE BYRNE DONE?
First topic message reminder :
Why has BYRNE been left out of WALES SQUAD again ?. He is without doubt the best fullback WALES have.

Re: WHAT HAS LEE BYRNE DONE?
Maestag, if they have a written detailed clause saying they can be released without penalty from their club to play fo their country in their context and the club signs it and it is a legal document (and you have acknwoldgee tat some players have this) then they choose to play for their country and not club abd yhe club tries to sack them or take action, in what way are they unable to take their employer to court for neglect/breach of contract or unlawful dismissal? The law is the law, if tge player breaches contract they are legally vulnerable I can see no reason why the club wouldn't be if they did and tge player ha tge stones and talent to get another contract elsewhere

Nothing Leigh Halfpenny is simply better and is a kicking option, to which Prestland isnt!

Didn't see the Scarlets vs Clermont game, but reports seem to say Byrne outplayed Liam Williams in that game. Is that fair?
BTW, Halfpenny will get injured or be unavailable at some point. Who will kick the goals then?

To be honest yes it is fair he did out play him, technically, however it is hard to jusdge when on player is part of a fifteen man team with real forward grunt and back flair, and the other player is part of a fourteen man team that are getting physically battered.
Liam took a knock on Friday, and it looked pretty nasty, not sure if it is serious or not but he did go off.

Doesn't specifically say it's in his contract but he's pretty confident (and is the only French based player released?) for word of mouth.
Thunor, have you not been reading the thread those contracts do not exist, the Beeb must have been reporting it incorrectly

Re: WHAT HAS LEE BYRNE DONE?
I'm probably alone in this view, but for me Byrne on his best form is a different class from Leigh as a 15. Strong in the air, secure in positioning, he ran absolutely superb lines, linked superbly with Shane and scored and created many valuable tries for us in big games. Leigh is a great rugby player with massive heart, but not a natural full-back. With Priestland at 10, his kicking has become indispensable, so he's there for the duration. Still, I wish he wouldn't keep falling over when he's running the ball out of defence.

Byrne is a much better fullback than Halpenny imo. Williams has the potential to be very good but he's still young and hasn't shown anything that brilliant yet.

Turns out he's only being released for 3 games, just slightly skewed from the international window because they have a bigger game they want him for.
