606 v2 Cricket Awards 2012

Last December the cricket section voted for awards across a number of categories.

I suggest that this year we make these awards:

- Test Batsman of the Year
- ODI Batsman of the Year
- T20I Batsman of the Year
- County Batsman of the Year

- Test Bowler of the Year
- ODI Bowler of the Year
- T20I Bowler of the Year
- County Bowler of the Year

- Overall Player of the Year
- International Team of the Year
- County Team of the Year

Any others??

you could always do a "most improved/breakthrough/young" player category.

An emerging player award could be good.
We have a domestic cricket section got going recently. Hopefully there will be more of a participation there and next year we can think beyond county cricket.

Should we also have cricinfo style single performance based awards as well. Test innings of the year, test bowling spel of the year?

How about test match of the year, ODI kf the year and T20 match of the year?

How about an award for 'Achievement of the year', which allows us to recognise particular genius that doesn't necessarily fall into the other categories.

I'm thinking of an award that could recognise e.g. Michael Clarke's back to back double hundreds or Tendulkar reaching 100 international 100s.

CF, we'll use this thread to draw up a list of awards initially, and then we can get people to vote on the thread until a deadline, like for the Hall of Fame.
