New (make believe) World Tour Empty New (make believe) World Tour

Post by puligny Sun 17 Feb 2013, 1:32 pm

Taking more notice of the tournament at Riviera got me thinking about a fantasy world tour, and the courses that might feature. Say 20 events. The first 5 on my list would be:
Kingston Heath
Paris National
TOC, Kingsbarns and Carnoustie (all used for one tourney. See what I did there?)
Harbour Town
Riviera

So while I fantasise about the rest, any thoughts gratefully received.

I LOVE watching The McGladrey every year on the Seaside Course at Sea Island.
Would certainly be on my bucket list of PGA Tour tracks to play.

And, I'll add Pebble, Spyglass and Cypress Point (all used for one tournament, see what I did there?) to the TOC trio.

I'm going to add Hong Kong GC Fanling, before its forgotten having been removed from this years tournaments! Also, controversially, Wentworth!

While you are down there, how about the longest golf course in the world. Nullarbor links - 1365 kilometers long (well that is how far it spans at least). Should take up a few days in the outback and plenty of time to 'blow the froth' off a few tinnies.

New rule - regularly used for tour events! As opposed to touring events OS! Irrespective of other merits Mac!

Great topic ... (old rules however)

1st 5:

Royal Melbourne
Royal Dornoch
Sunningdale (composite?)
Pine Valley
Swinley Forest (might need to play as a par 64 though)

I've always wanted to play Crans-Sur-Sierre but only from having seen it on TV - something very exciting about playing up in the mountains like that - so I'd have it on my list, along with Pebble, Royal Portrush, Quail Hollow and TOC (just because it will p off S_R Smile )

Bob,

I'd like to see TOC on the list, providing that the course is a composite of TOC, New and Jubilee to make one decent course.

To be fair, I'm not that big a fan of TOC, but it is iconic so would make my list for that reason alone.

Turf Moor is iconic and has history, but you wouldn't hold the FA Cup final there.

I do like TOC, just don't think it's anywhere near good enough to hold a major.

If we have to stick to places that have appeared on tour relatively recently then;

Royal st Georges
Kingston Heath
Shinnecock
TOC
Kennemer
