David Price's promoter Frank Maloney collapses after his fighter's defeat to Tony Thompson in Liverpool

Frank Maloney, David Price's promoter, who has had heart surgery in the past collapsed in the Liverpool Echo Arena after the post-fight press conference.

Half an hour earlier Price had been stopped in the second round by American Tony Thompson suffering a perforated eardrum, his hopes of a world title shattered.

Maloney was given oxygen by the medical crews on hand for the bouts and was taken into an ambulance at the arena.
US matchmaker Don Majeski who witnessed the incident told The Telegraph: “Frank was talking to a friend outside the press conference, held his head suddenly and went down on his knees.”

“He was then put on his back and his legs were placed upwards over a chair and was attended to by three medics. He was on the floor for around five minutes.”
“The police then cleared onlookers from the area and an ambulance was called.”
