Is Tavoris Cloud The Most Stupid Boxer Ever?

If you are world class and you've been boxing for a large portion of your life and you've become a world champion and you've matured as a fighter and are now 31 years of age, you have a 2 and a half month training camp to study a fighter and work out how to beat him, you must really be incredibly stupid to get your tactics so wrong that you get completely done over by a 48 year old man, right?

I don't want to take ANYTHING away from B-Hop what he achieved last night was staggering, to show the guile he did and boxing ability to old man his opponent is nothing short of incredibe, he truly is an ATG.

However, if you're Cloud and you hold so many advantages, in being stronger and WAAAAY WAYY fresher and having way more stamina than your opponent, WHY, oh bloody WHY would you give Hopkins so many dead spots to recover, the few times he decided to really throw caution to the wind and go to the body was when Hopkins was most uncomfortable, but the first time he actually did that was in the 8th round!!!! His gameplan must have been not to allow Hopkins to dictate pace, surely, but he barely ever seemed as though he wanted to push the pace hard. I was sat there thinking, do you really want this Cloud? Then I just started thinking, he probably does, he's simply just too stupid to get it.

I'm well aware, in other eras he would still be in the top ten Truss.

We were debating whether that would be a real achievement.........

In his prime, in any modern era, he'd be a nailed on contender, or champion. What's more, even at the age of 48, he'd also be in the top 10 of any modern era.

7 billion people in the world Top 10 in any sport is amazing.

Why is it so difficult to say................ "Well done Bernard".

There is always crud in any top 10 list......so it means diddly squat................

I've never said that he shouldn't feel pride......

My argument is it doesn't reflect well on Boxing for a 48 year old to be having success.

He wasn't a saint in his youth but it reflects well that a clean living 48 year old is doing well in sport; It's certainly better for boxing than the high profile wife beaters.

Hopkins is a modern day marvel. His achievements are other worldly. For a 48 year old to do what he is doing is superb and he should be given all the credit in the world for it. His boxing is not to my liking and I hope he gets his rear end handed to him. But for even stepping into the ring and competing successfully deserves wholesome praise.

Hopkins says he doesn't take PEDs however I'm not sure I'd just take his word for it. Sadly, as much as I'm one of the few (non German) admirers of the K bros I think they may be partial to some juice as well esp. Wlad. Hope I'm wrong though.

Haven't been on much but is this all it takes to get over 100 responses? I know how Azania and Truss feel now, just create something mildly controversial. I've been wasting my time going into ridiclous detail abotu everything else haha.

Have watched a few of Hopkins fights over the past day Alex and there is a common theme in all them; everyone throws less against him even Calzaghe threw 200 punches less than he usually did.

Fair views. Just felt that there were so many dead spots when they were standing there posing at each other was moments were Cloud could be at least throwing a jab, working doing something, but he was doing nothing just watching Hopkins go side to side.

It's the same pattern in almost every Hopkins fight, Trinidad barely threw and he was somebody who could let his hands go, granted that was 12 years ago now but it's more to do with the wily old man than any shortcomings of his opponents.
