Rigondeaux: The real P4P King?
I know Adrien Broner calls himself "The Problem" but surely Rigondeaux is the biggest problem in boxing right about now.
He can probably claim to now being in the top 3 P4P list despite after only having 12 professional fights.
... In fact there is a real possibility that he is technically the best boxer (not fighter) of his generation. The problem is, who will fight him? I can't imagine Donaire wanting to rematch him, as his interview suggested, and I also doubt Abner Mares would want to be thoroughly out boxed for 12 rounds (unlikely to even happen due to the TR and GB issue).
Maybe we've seen this great come to the professional game to late, but one has to appreciate his skills. Having 400 amateur fights with just 12 defeats is a statistical incredible feat. I just fear his style will not allow him to become the star he deserves to be.

Re: Rigondeaux: The real P4P King?
Can I ask a question?
What was I watching last night?
I taped it on Box Nation and saw a Top Rank fight with a guy who had "Donaire" on his trunks, fighting a white guy, who he beat 120- 108. I think it was Narváez.
Did I tape the wrong thing?

Re: Rigondeaux: The real P4P King?
I agree.
I think Donaire goes on to have the better career because he will get the chance to fight the better opponents (due to Rigo being dodged) and in better fights.
To be honest, I wouldn't go and watch Rigo if you gave me a free ticket. I was ready for switchin the fight off and going asleep only up until the 10th round. And the thousands in the crowd seemed to agree judging by the booing through out the fight

Yes
Re: Rigondeaux: The real P4P King?
Scored it 115-113 to Rigo, although he stank the joint out at times , Donaire did t do enough in closing the distance and putting Rigo under pressure, no thanks to a rematch.

Re: Rigondeaux: The real P4P King?
I thought Ledderman had it a little wide. Rigondeaux went rounds without throwing anything, fight was close enough to warrant a rematch but I'm not sure I'd stay up again.

Top Rank should position Rigo on a move to face Mares, the Mexican/America is made to measure for him, Rigo needs a ticket seller as opposition otherwise he'll be on undercards.

Rigondeaux would be great to watch if he would come forward. Heavy handed with great speed. Not sure many fighters would last 12 with him if pushed them backwards and let his hands go.

Re: Rigondeaux: The real P4P King?
Isn't Scott Quigg WBA intrim champ.........oh dear oh dear Scott, you better hope Rigo moves up a division.
Frampton is almost at IBF mandatory position. A very smart route!

Rigo will be promoted to super champ, meaning Quigg will be elevated to regular, I imagine.

Re: Rigondeaux: The real P4P King?
Don't think p4p top 3 yet as I believe longertivity matters strongly whe basi g these things
Struggle to see where he goes though, didnt look to big yesterday so 126 might be too big for him and 122 downs that've alot of "big" names except Donaire and Mares who won't fight him for different reasons
His style was very negative and sets himself for Whittaker type robberies imo in the future
He's had his money but I dony think he'lll be making big bucks anytime soon

He's 32 and been a 'super-bantam' for well over a decade. This is his weight. I can't see him moving up.

Re: Rigondeaux: The real P4P King?
Although an unbelievable boxer, he's not TV-Friendly. Seriously, if he winds up fighting a contender next, who's going to care?
Donaire still appeals to the masses and will move up and wreak havoc on the featherweights. Maybe as far as lightweight.

Re: Rigondeaux: The real P4P King?
He could probably do with a fighting a guy next that will make him look better because I dont think he is quite as boring as the Donaire fight made him look. He just had to box very carefully against an opponent like that.

Re: Rigondeaux: The real P4P King?
Rigondeaux can look flashy when he wants, but you'd be a maniac to box like that against Donaire. Full credit to Rigondeaux, I didn't think he'd do it but he proved that he really does have the skills to pay the bills. Donaire has plenty of time to come again and I look forward to seeing him in the future. Really enjoyed the skill on show, and with the result today in the footy it's been a great weekend of sport!

Re: Rigondeaux: The real P4P King?
Rigo looked pretty good when he flithered Willie Casey. Not a world class opponent but he pulled the legs off the Euro champion in impressive style.
When the best fight they often negate each others best attributes.
Rigo is the real deal and should from here on in be making the really big super star fights including a bit of weight jumping.
