Absolutely, though RVP might be a bit miffed he's lost out to someone who has less goals, assists and medals. Still, he won it last year (I think).

To put it into perspective the only other person to win all three awards ever was Cristiano Ronaldo in 2007-8 the same year he won the World Player of the Year! I know it's relative to other players at the time, but I don't think Bale has been good enough this year to warrant the awards and praise he is getting.

If one body finds him the best player of the season, then surely it isn't a great shock that another agrees?

I thought the FWA would be more likely to give a nod to Van Persie, considering his transfer was a huge reason for United winning the title. They gave it to Scott Parker last time Gareth Bale won and as far as I am aware, they give it somebody different more than they do the same.

Bale has short spells where he looks world class, and then spells where he doesn't, Van Persie, even when he had his goal-scoring drought still looked world class.

To what though? The possibility of 4th place? And if they don't get fourth place, that means Bale's won an award for carrying his team to nowhere. I#m not saying he's not deserving, but all these awards have to wait until after the season has finished.

yeah i agree the awards shouldnt be done until the end of the season...however Bale probably would have won it anyway...he has carried spurs
