Re: RBS 6 Nations fixtures announced for 2014 & 2015 Championships
Announcing the fixtures 2 years in advance is great, allows us to plan tours. But why cant they make this a rolling anouncement. They did this 2 years ago, then no announcement about 2014 until now. They should have announced that last year at least, as I say a rolling 2 year announcement... rant over..

Very pleased Italy vs England is moved to the last game rather than being early February. It should mean sitting outside is more enjoyable than it was during the snowstorm last year!

Re: RBS 6 Nations fixtures announced for 2014 & 2015 Championships
Yes but unless you go away to the game, it means Friday game watched at home, after a mad rush home from work, unless you take time off. Sunday games mean constraint as work the following day....
Saturday game, allows you to enjoy a beer or two before the game(s), enjoy a beer or two more discussing the game, and enjoy a beer or several more while making a complete ar$e of yourself in the night, without worrying about surfacing in the morning...
6 Nations is made for Saturday... no other day will do...

Agreed - means you have to take time of work as well if you want to travel to games, which is plain annoying.
Nothing quite beats a Saturday triple header, especially going to Murrayfield and then heading to the pub afterwards to watch more rugby.
Marvellous!

If it is 3 on one day I like the England one to be in the middle.
First game to warm up a bit (pint or several), then your own game and by the time the 3rd game comes it's getting a tad messy.

See I prefer Welsh games to be third, first game serves as a mild food and first drink conversation peice, middle game is where the fans come into the pub and the talk turns to Wales, by the third game the ref's a joke, that guy over there is looking at me funny, love youve short changed me I gave you a 20 honest and OMG we've put 30 points on them 'Are you Scotland, are you scotland, are you scotland in disguise....'

What is the betting that IF England are playing for a GS in Rome, we get a SH ref.......Italy must be due to beat England some time soon......
Why do England never seem to play at home for the last game when going for the championship ? Seems a little coincidental, I make it six times since 99 and only won once, in Dublin 03.

Pretty sure I saw a bigwig saying that it was an experiment that had not worked as the broadcasters did not like it.
I wonder who was the driver for them to return, Wales who host both Friday night games, the 6Ns committee or the broadcasters?
Personally I hate Friday night internationals

Agree that LT. Also not particularly impressed with Sunday matches. Either spend day in work nursing a hangover or having to take the day off to recover (like I did for Italy this year)

Re: RBS 6 Nations fixtures announced for 2014 & 2015 Championships
England's and Ireland's schedule is horrendous! Wales have a tough middle section and France and Scotland have a reasonable draw. How much will the Lions hangover count for next year and has a team ever won 3 tournaments (6 or 5 in a row?)?
Or maybe it's time we bring the 6N to an end as we know it.

I'm calling for a BT Vision 2N, (yeah, those two Nations) with a 4N lesser competition running in tandem.
Oops...they already tried that jokey fanciful idea for the Women's version, didn't they? Be careful what you try to joke about being the moral!!!

I thought the payoff for us (Wales) agreeing to have Friday night games was that we wouldn't have any Sunday games. So much for that. I imagine Roger Lewis has managed to get more money out of this deal, so what does he care about the hassle it'll cause so many people? He knows they'll sell out the stadium regardless.

Here here LP, he won't give a flying monkeys whatever you want to call it.
He or the WRU dont give a damn when it comes to the fans as long as the corporate/hospitality is sold out.

Wales always get the obscure time's and dates because they know Welsh public will walk over hot coals to watch their country, has anybody else had a Friday night fixture, except when they are playing Wales ?

I always thought the Friday night was a Welsh idea not one handed down by the 6N organisers? There's bound to be a reason why it's always a Welsh game, in Wales... if it was orders then we'd hear a pretty loud Welsh response saying it wasn't fair that Wales was always picked on for the Friday games? No?

The WRU said they were happy to be used as guinee pigs for Friday night games as they would get a larger slice of the tv pie to compensate them for it.

Money talks.
I wouldn't mind it being the Italy or Scotland game - but England and France on a Friday just doesn't sit right.
Hope the money they get actually starts to benefit the Welsh game
When is the stadium debt due to be paid off?

Wales played away in France for the first ever Friday night game in the six nations, so they are not always in Wales. Also I bet we have the highest % of the Sunday games over the years, that is why the WRU said that they were going to play all our games on a Saturday from now on for the Welsh fans, but for some reason they seem to have gone back on that arrangement by the looks of it.

Re: RBS 6 Nations fixtures announced for 2014 & 2015 Championships
Is there no discussions and negotiating between all Unions on dates and days? Could Wales ever say logistically that they were going to play all their games on Saturday...surely other games on the weekend would define what days each side played on?
Because if all sides wanted to play on Saturday, that would be a super-saturday and the networks wouldn't buy the idea...one day of three games is enough for them.
