Champions and Challengers !!

What Champions do is fight challengers.............The great Joe Louis fought challengers for ten years he didn't beat a single current Top 10 p4per...but he lost to two.............Muhammad Ali would have only beaten two current p4pers in his entire career had there been P4p then..........Liston and Foreman....He'd have lost to two in Frazier and Holmes............Dempsey maybe two..........one win against Carpentier and one defeat in Tunney 2............

Roberto Duran beat two current p4pers in his career..............Buchanan (probably) and Leonard...........Hagler one in Hearns!!

If Floyd like most champions wishes to defend his title against any top 10 chump he is more than entitled to...........Hagler did for seven years...Duran did for seven years.....But instead he picked on his 4th p4per and multi-weight champion Guerrero and won easily.............

Great feat and performance............and he is approaching 40 too..............

Perspective please............Who is Ricky Burns fighting next???............Martinez just fought Macklin, Barker and Murray hasn't he???

No doubt in any fairminded poster's eyes that he is top 10..........when longevity, skill and achievement is added...

Let's give credit where it is due!!..Guerrero is a great win for anyone else.....................so it is great for Floyd too..

that just proves boxing has always failed to come through on true 50/50 world title fights for years and continues to do so. sad really and unique to boxing- and shows little sign of going away.

No Alex. I don't agree that "Guerrero is a great win". And so what if he's a multi weight champion? Titles are all over the place these days.

Let me make a comparison here. 30 years ago Floyd's fight against Guerrero would have just been a regular title defence like Hagler v Sibson or Hearns v Hutchings. These days with all the the hype that's shoved on to us, last nights fight was described by a commentator as a "big fight". Really? Hardly Hagler v Hearns in my book.

Good win for Floyd, nothing more.

Give him a break. For a 36 year old to do what he did last night to a 'multi-weight world champion' deserves some plaudits.
To give it some context Floyd made it look like a 'routine' defence because he's that good. Even at his age there isn't another boxer that even comes close to him.
