May be the camera angle but Halle looked a lot faster than Queen's although not such nice-looking grass

The grass wore out much faster at the Halle BL, compared to Queens. Much more S&V at Halle compared to Queens.

Thanks. I've caught the gist of Feds last 3 matches now. I think he looks ok for making the second week of Wimbledon but no more.

A good answer to those who think faster play has to mean 1-3 stroke rallies.

Thanks for this, watched all. Does look faster than Wimbledon. I would like to see Wimbledon at the same speed. Youzhny and Haas looked in good form. Federer looked very good as well, although cherry picked highlights can be a bit deceiving.

The highlights also answered the question of does Roger Federer ever actually miss a through the legs shot, clearly he does, there were a few terrible attempts in there.

One little thing here though that may mean nothing.

Last year (at supposedly slower Wimbledon) Federer beat Youznhy in the QF's in straight sets for the loss of five games. At Halle the other day on a supposely faster court and more to Fed's liking he was pushed to three sets dropping thirteen games. From this what can we deduce? Either Roger preferring faster courts is not strictly true or his levels have dropped from last year or Youznhy has improved  but last year at this time he was ranked 26 compared to 28 this year so that doesn't back any measured improvement in Youznhy.

I actually think Wimbledon was the fastest last year, since around 2008 - baring in mind the turgid surface it normally is

Hence, Fed likes fast surfaces he and Murray have proven themselves to be the best players on very fast courts or rather the fastest surfaces we have - that's why they contested Dubai last year and both Wimbledon finals (Olympics was definitely a faster Wimbledon than normal)

Given the forecast, I fear that the conditions could be back to 2010/11

I think it's faster because the Halle court seems more enclosed than at Wimby. Thus less effected by the elements and playing more like an indoor court.
