My soon to be neighbour is......
THE World Heavyweight Champion, Wladimir Klitschko.
I have just returned from Spain to sort out some legal issues with a holiday home that we are buying on the South East coast. There I was, minding my own business with the family having some dinner when who should wander in to the resturant, none other than Wladimir Klitschko and a few other chaps. I kid you not! There I was, pointing and gesticulating frantically to Mrs Windows about the Heavyweight Champion of the World walking into the same room as us, whereas she was more concerned about ordering another glass of Vino. Her loss. Unfortunately, the young blood actress he hangs around with was no-where to be seen.
I have to say, he was an absolute gentleman, even though he was trying to eat his dinner, and he didn't refuse a single autograph or picture, me included, despite the menacing looks some of his entourage were giving off. He happily smiled and chatted, even though some people clearly didn't know who he was until the Chinese whispers went round the resturant. He is one large unit, even bigger than he looks on the TV, but a genuinely pleasant individual and it was so bizarre for me, being a boxing fan, to be eating in the same place as him. It made my holiday.
Anyway, it turns out he has a villa on the same urbanization that we are buying on. It is on the other side of the estate, but he is basically a part-time neighbour of mine. I knew Wladimir had spent time in Spain, but I didn't know he had a place there. He was over in Ibiza and one of the other Islands but his home is on the mainland. Apparently Vitali turned up the next day with his family but I didn't see him. It is only a matter of time before me and Wlad become bessie mates and I carry his belts into the ring before a fight.

Quality Tina, does make me wonder just how rich you really are to be buying in the same complex as Wlad, there must be some good money in window cleaning. Personally never doubted for a minute he would be a complete gent.
Did you try to persuade him to come on the podcast by any chance?

There are a lot of windows in Spain, Jeffrey.
When I say he lives on the other side of the estate, I mean the side with the enormous houses on. Ours will be a very modest holiday home, his place is far more palatial.
I should have thought on my feet and asked about the podcast but I was a little bit star-struck actually. It wasn't a good look for a 35 year man.
He was so polite and well mannered, I genuinely think he would have said yes!

Superb, Tino. Did you notice Chisora around looking for a photo opportunity? Or was that later in the night club?

No sign of that obnoxious lout, bhb. Thankfully. I think that incident was on one of the Islands? We don't have that kind of riff-raff on the mainland!
DAVE: It is just outside Torrevieja. Near a place called Guardamar.

There certainly are bargains to be had out there, TopHat. Too many unemployed people for you though, pal. Suggest you avoid the place.

Nice one, David.
I bought my wife a fake Prada bag from one the African immigrants that patrol Guardamar beech. I got him down from €45 to €13! I was almost as proud of that as meeting Wladimir. I'm both tight and from the North, a bargain is a bargain.

They've completely kicked them out of Torrevieja now. We we're quite surprised. Chisora would love it there as they call every tourist "Del Boy". Sadly, Chisora is more likely to be arrested for selling fake Lacoste shirts.Mind the windows Tino. wrote:DAVE667 wrote:I know it well. We have an apartment in Torrevieja. Just came back last week. Favourite thing about Turkey was seeing loads of girls walking round in tops from Primark carrying £5000 of "Mulberry" bags.

There's a Primark at this new shopping complex in La Zenia. I nearly bought the best/worst t-shirt ever. A Union jack flag comprised of chips...I tried convincing my wife it was post modern irony...she said I was a disgrace and had sunk to a new low.

Your perception of Ibiza is stuck in 20 yrs ago Truss, bit your views on HW's.
Ibiza is quite a richman's playground these days. Rarely here of young'uns going there anymore as it's so expesive, most people are young professionals in good jobs with a decent wedge to spend.
The scum all go to Malia and Kavos etc.

Got to say I am with your missus on this one Dave. However if it is choice of the "amusing" chip t-shirt or a SLAYER T shirt I wholeheartedly support the purchase.

Quality that Tino , great story. Never seem to find the stars myself.
However I did share a helicopter with Muhammad Ali visiting the canyon in Vegas, he owned an Indian restaurant in Bristol and managed to spill a drink over a historic photo (prob about 20 year old) in a ranch we stopped at. The old local cowboys weren't happy, I was about to crack a joke cowboys and Indians but the mrs frantically nipped it in the bud.
Any offers for a fellow northerner at your holiday home , please feel free to give me a shout mate.
Great story pal.

Not sure why anyone would want to live there...problem with Spain is there are two many greasy spaniards and too many Brits that are too lazy to embrace the culture and fit in......
I expected Vitali to have more class than Ibiza...........
No tarts in Marbella? Maybe not, but there are more Russian hookers in banus, 5 mins down the road, than there are in Moscow. Well so I've heard

Tino, that's interesting as I'm off to that exact part of Spain a week on Friday. A place called Los Altos.
Wonder if the big man will still be around? Sounds like a great experience, not every day you get to meet the heavweight champion of the world, though it may become more frequent for you!

His bird was on Graham Norton a couple of months ago, think she would total filth. I would definitely give her a good go, despite the obvious risks. I reckon I could out manoeuvre the big fella and make my escape.

I was priced out of Ibiza a few years back after going every year for about 5 years. Last experience I had was paying 50 euros to get in to Pacha followed by a 175 euro round of 10 (25cl) bottles of water and a JD and coke.
Just come back from South of France. Similarly expensive but free accomodation and 17 euros for 5 litres of quality wine softens the blow.

It was both surreal and amazing in equal measures, Fists. Hopefully I will meet him again but I have no idea how often he goes to his home in Spain. I will have to root through his bins and find some information!
Los Altos is lovely, mate. We actually looked at a couple of places there before settling on Guardamar. It has a bit of everything if you want some peace and quiet on the beach or some partying in Torrevieja. Dave will be able to tell you more about the town as he has an apartment there, but I do know that a lot of the Spainish holiday there themselves so they must be on to something.
Mind the windows Tino.- Beano
