The Azzrentice Season 2 - Task 3
First topic message reminder :
Good morning ladies and gentlemen. You are gathered here as 7 of the most talented young fake online football managers in this country. Over the remaining weeks I will be laying on a series of football-related tasks, all of which are designed to test your football knowledge, historical understanding, and creativity.
Which brings me on to the third task. Racism is once again on the agenda, with veterans such as Sol Campbell and Paul Canoville speaking out against prejudice within the game against black players and managers.
What I want you to do is to provide me with what you think would be the greatest side made up entirely of black players. This is not to segregate them, but instead is your chance to highlight some fantastic legends of the game and their contributions to it.
The team with the best XI and explanation of why they chose those particular players will win, and from the losing team, one of you will be fired.
These are the teams for this week - Zebs and Marky have swapped sides. Nando will lead Team Moyes, and Olly will lead Team Fergie.
Team Moyes: Trebs, Gregers, Nando (Team Leader), Zebs
Team Fergie: Marky, GSC, Olly (Team Leader)
The deadline for your submissions is Monday 7 October at 1100. Good luck.

Re: The Azzrentice Season 2 - Task 3
I think I should just hurry this up so we can have a final next week. Work is too busy (having missed three days) for me to devote the usual time to this.
Marky's team wins - mainly because of Cyrille Regis, and the other team having Thuram at CB when he was a RB for the majority of his career.
Olly and Marky are through to the final.
GSC is fired for not participating, although he likely won't read this anyway.
On Zebs's side, Trebs is through to the final, and Zebs and Gregers are fired.
So, the final is:
Trebs vs Marky vs Olly
We'll need to find out who can be around to help you in the final!

Trebs - great job on your own btw, top notch write up
Marky - good job by you too, I see Olly had a small part to play there.
Olly - you are very lucky that I've allowed you to get to the final. Pick smartly when you're there.

Why don't you get them to pick teams from anyone possible, available or not, and then just make whoever selects Viva, the winner.
We all know that it's Viva wins these finals for the candidate, so you'd be saving a lot of time.

Azzy, couple of things:
Cyrille Regis, I had Ronaldo. Someone who is a far better player, scored more goals and you're being biased due to him being a West Brom player. Ronaldo was a player whose goals won Brazil the world cup. I don't see what he actually did in his career, won a couple of caps for England.
Lilian Thuram, it depends. At club level he was generally a centre back, whereas at international he played at right back more to start with, but in his later career he played in the centre. I think it's a 50/50 which could be argued either way. But it must be pointed out he's probably the greatest defender in his generation.

Trebs, the Regis thing wasn't serious, surely even you could see that
On Thuram I used to watch Juve religiously, and never saw him play CB unless there were injuries. At Barca he was a CB because he couldn't hack the running required at RB anymore. I saw him play CB for France though, that's true. However as always, TM is right:

It didn't matter whether you won or lost in this task, merely taking part got you through

I agree with you Trebs. But knowing Azzy is a WBA fan, I chose Cyrille. It's called being smarter than youonlytreblewinners wrote:Cyrille Regis, I had Ronaldo. I don't agree with TM on that occasion then, it wouldn't be the first time it's got players wrong.
I wanted to go into the final with a record of winning all the tasks though

Re: The Azzrentice Season 2 - Task 3
I could have said I preferred the choice of Wharton to N'Kono, the defence containing Desailly (for me the best black defender ever), and Paul Ince over Didi. But no, I picked on Cyrille Regis and Thuram at a 50/50 position
