First topic message reminder :

Seems as though Joe Cole has been released by West Ham, might be a solid bargain for a lower league team if hes prepared to drop

Would just be a terrible signing. Firstly, he needs pin-point delivery & service, we offer none. Secondly, he's pretty useless, slow & has poor work-rate, which won't endear him to the St. James' crowd. Thirdly, his wages will be astronomical, therefore, makes no sense whatsoever. Shocking on all levels, Pardew stay well clear.

Fabregas is confirming he's off, back to the EPL no doubt.

£30m for Fabregas. City should be circling, Cesc is homegrown by CL rules. Do Arsenal need him? Chelsea could, but I don't see him going to Chelsea.

Fernando or a proven Cesc, no brainer from Man City POV. Arsenal know Arteta is past it, legs gone & Cesc is a superior upgrade & they have first option. Mourinho likes his midfield players who work hard & have a great engine, not sure Cesc is that & would be viewed as being similar to Mata. United have always been in contention but LVG appears to be going down his own particular route this summer. Liverpool are an option, £30m on a proven Cesc or £25m on Lallana, no-brainer you opt for the Spaniard.

Cesc wont sit like Arteta though. They could have a midfield five of Fabregas, Wilshere, Ramsey, Ozil, Cazorla. But thats without the pace of Walcott or the Ox. And no midfielders with any discipline. Its another i'd have no real qualms over for Arsenal, though I do wonder whether they have more important issues to solve.

He's as good as he's ever been which is never as good as he was made out to be. Don't see him leaving Barca anyway but I guess you never know.

Arsenal hold the keys to both the deal and crucially Cesc's preference.

Can't really see City. United should desperately be in with the abysmal midfield they have.

I worry that re-signing cesc would mean no DM.

Obvious arsene could decide for us to play a false 9...

Tbh you generally wont need one against lesser teams.

Its more a case of at 30m, hes too good not to. Struggled at Barca but was one of the best in the PL when Wenger built his Arsenal side around him.

Stump or no stump.

I don't think Arsenal need to worry about their side against the lesser sides GSC, it's exactly that they need qualities to best the bigger sides.

I imagine he'll go where he was once happy. It's a no lose signing for Arsenal as the fans won't criticise the club for signing a player they love

Whilst there's the lure of Wenger and his old stomping ground at Arsenal, at Utd there's Mata & De Gea as well as RVP, sure at the WC the Spanish pair will be bending his ear as the Barca ones did when he was at Arsenal.

Considering he went Barca because he was homesick, I'd be inclined to think Arsenal would be his first preference. He loves Wenger and the fans already love him. Plus CL football

United need a player who can control the midfield, something they haven't had since Scholes left. Cesc would be perfect IMO.

This is the perfect chance for Man United to sort out a central midfield problem by signing Fabregas, to add a little bit more creativity to the side, from deep positions. They can then operate with Rooney in AM, RVP as a ST with 2 wide men. The wide men provide off the ball runs to cause problems and crosses into the box whereas Rooney and RVP can link up, with Rooney running past him and RVP finishing in the box, with Fabregas creating from deep and then Carrick just holding, protecting the back 4 and provides extra cover for the full backs to go forward, as well as his passing ability to be able to keep the game ticking over for United, as the saying goes. #Recipeforsuccess

Decent player that's never quite lived up to the early hype on him, youth wise he was all time top scorer for Netherlands u17 and linked with most top clubs, now on his 4th club and only 21.

Jordan Mutch to Sunderland as a replacement for Colback. Surprised we didn't go for this lad, looked quite impressive last year. Ashley Williams to QPR looks on the cards, seeing as Steven Taylor has committed himself to the Toon.

I love it if we get Cesc and bring in one or two other good signings we will be in the thick of it for the premier league this year. Cesc and Ramsey interchanging as false number 9s. Cesc did that at barca and we effective when I watched him in that role earlier in the year with an injured Messi. Walcott out on the right, Cazorla out left, Ramsey and Ozil cerntral, and Flamini in a holding role. Who needs a striker afterall.

I bet we hear this week, Newcastle are putting in a bid of £1.4m for a Frenchman from Ligue 2.  picard

Post by FootballLight Mon 02 Jun 2014, 8:27 pm

Well that's Lambert at Liverpool and Southampton not prepared to sell anymore of their players until they have a new manager in place. It's fair, none of the other Southampton players have expressed an interest in leaving apart from Lambert so save the new gaffer a job by selling Lambert who wanted to leave to go to Liverpool. But then again, so does Lallana, but a player that doesn't come from that area and is much more expensive transfer is maybe something for a more experienced transfer man to deal with. But it is fair play to Southampton on that front.

Next question. Where has the Luiz to PSG deal gone? A rough £40m fee was agreed for Luiz well over a week ago now, have heard nothing since. But in all fairness, Luiz should be preparing for the World Cup in his host country so I can see why talks have stalled. Wouldn't surprise me to see this deal fall through or potentially even be something that is completed close to deadline day, although it is very unlikely.

Finally, I know it's a little bit off-topic but, I can't wait to see this World Cup. Unfortunately, not got the chance to go and with the violence and structure of this World Cup, I wouldn't want to go near Rio as I can see this going in the record books, for negative reasons. The only reason I am so excited is because a World Cup only comes around once every 4 years, which is a major loss to the world of football (IMO) and I feel there will be many gems coming through from other countries from so many different regions. I can see Ghana and Nigeria having a player to potentially watch out for and no doubt be a really cheap buy for a good Premier League team next season to have. The excitement to see these players is building up fast.

Speaking of building up fast, when are all of these stadiums going to be completed? Whistle

Of course that would mean that useless cretin Edward Woodward would have to enter transfer negotiations, I don't think he understands how transfers work. Think now Malcolm Glazer has died Woodward might not last the season in his current position. Just let him spend time making money for the club, at least he's good at that

I'm resigned to the fact that United will wait until after the world cup, be put off by inflated prices, enter the season with the squad they have now and panic in the last few days and sign garbage

Hooper was signed for around £5m & his stock has dropped. Jordan Rhodes had another great season & banged 25+ in the Championship again. Didn't Wigan bid around £6.5m/£7m for Rhodes last summer & it got rejected. His stock has only risen & he's only 24, whereas Hooper is older. I'd say Jordan Rhodes is worth around £8m/£9m nowadays.

Rhodes yes maybe being a little optimistic, doubt we'll pay nearly 10m for him. Would love us to sign him tho
