Wrestling Tropes Empty Wrestling Tropes

Post by Dr Gregory House MD Thu 15 May 2014, 1:33 pm

Not sure if Tropes is the right word, but I'm just looking for wrestling influenced stuff you do in your day to day lives, for example-

The influence for this article recently (after seeing Brock's awesome t-shirt), in my quieter moments I've found myself singing 'eat, sleep, beat the streak' to the tune of 'Oops upside your head'

Whenever I make anyone coffee, or coffee is mentioned, I will say 'Cup of coffee in the big time yehh' in the style of Randy Savage, given I make roughly 20 cups of coffee per day at work, this is becoming a serious problem

Finally, on the odd occasion I achieve anything significant, I will give a good 'I did it, WOOO!' in the style of Owen Hart

So yeh, basically I'm a bit weird, but if anyone want's to join me in sharing your wrestling based tics, feel free

Greg  thumbsup

I have long been a fool for Lesnar. If I'm standing on the spot I will very quickly hop back and forth on either foot like I'm on the entrance ramp. I also spray deodorant or canisters in two sprays like its Punk's intro.

I've thankfully got out of the habit of waiting to pounce like the Rock before a Rock Bottom if someone has their back to me.

Watching any TV show and thinking of it all in terms of face and heel, as well as being pushed.

If any wrestling entrances come on my phone as I am walking, I have to try hard not to start acting like the person. Most noticeable with Lesnar and The Shield.

On nights out I do the DX crotch chop far too often.

Around the time of Wrestlemania, when The Rock and Cena had their first match, on nights out, me and a mate would always pose like The Rock when 'Wild Ones' came on.

I also do the Brock bouncing from foot to foot, every time I play football and I'm waiting for the whistle after a restart.

Whenever I need to book something, like a train ticket or a table in a restaurant, I do it really badly.

Like TNA.

Its definitely a problem if anyone says 5 TIME around me.

I've also taken to cutting my forehead and elbow dropping my jackets.

I have to resist the urge to shout WHAT in between a guy a works slow sentences.

I've also got my appraisal coming up and feel like thats the perfect time to tell my boss I deserve a push.

The YES chants have become like a normal thing to everyone now.

Im starting to dress like Batista as well. Bloke is a nob, but his dress sense is class.

Slightly linked but the moment I knew I had a goodun in my wife was when we were out shopping one day and a kid in a John Cena t shirt walked past and without hesitation she did the 'you can't see me'

Wrestling Tropes Empty Re: Wrestling Tropes

Post by kamikaze Thu 15 May 2014, 7:25 pm

A few years ago me and some mates took a wrestling belt out with us and declared it the world heavy weight pub championship. Hardcore rules applied and it was on the line 24/7. At first it was fun pinning mates when they passed out or r biggest mate pinning sum1 much smaller who had no chance of kicking out. As nights went on things got more serious the occasional submission applied and I rember being low blowed and pinned at a house party. 2 years ago while gd and drunk on thr dance floor I jokingly got my friend ina head lock, he was not impressed and tried to push me back as I fell still holding his head I pulled off what cud be only fiscribed as a painfull accidental DDT right onto the top of my mates head. As my mate lay on the floor in agony and looking pretty dazed 1 thing crossed my mind CHAMPION I knelt down beside my friend asked if he was ok he kind of nodded I guess then bang tge leg was hooked another of my friends coubted the 3 count (gd laaad) this was brilliant my money in the bank moment. I was escorted out by a bouncer abd we were banned for 6 months..... worth it as im still thr champ to this day!

I constanstly "wooooo' ala Flair at work and whilst drunk, to the point where me and a former teammate would end up delivering knife edge chops to each other and our friends. Also throwing the over the top punches with sound effect is what me and coworkers often do when bored.

Whilst moving a large sofa at work i was tackled onto the cushions on the floor, retaliated by delivering an AA ti the culprit.

also Yes chants whenever something good happens be it a nice meal, video game victory, or end of shift.

when we have candles lit in our living room I would always lean over it before blowing it out and whisper to my mrs "we're here" and blow it out aggressively.

Me and a mate spent all night at a Eurovision party shouting "ITS PARTY TIME. ALL THE TIME!" And when people complained they were promptly told to 'not be a lemon'. Good times.
