Fight will be announced tomorrow I believe but it looks like he's got a shot at the WBC title. I'm sure some will say he doesn't deserve it etc, but hopefully he can come home with the title.

I'm not a fan of alphabet rankings..............I've had 37 years of watching the various anomalies..Since I watched Norton v Holmes..

If you can prove I don't respect a fighter feel free Truss, if not stop acting like a petulant child. You've pointed out a loss he had nearly four years ago as a reason for him not to get a title shot.

Like it or not, he's done what he has had to do in order to get a title shot today, doesn't matter what went on in years gone by.

Lee Selby has had a loss too does that mean he should not get a title shot?

Bringing up the fact he lost is a bigger problem to the sport than anything else Truss. Fighters should be fighting the best and nearest to them at all opportunities.

For what it's worth I didn't think Paul smith deserved a shot either....

He's beaten Gary Buckland and that's it..

He has worked his way up the rankings in the WBC and done what has been asked of him i think he deserves his shot, i really hope he wins

We all know the rankings aren't up too much scratch but if Smith (Selby or anyone else for that matter) has done what the governing bodies have asked then why don't they deserve their shot.

Also why is Callum more deserving of a shot than Stephen?

Why are you happy for this to guy to get a shot..............When on another thread you are moaning about Champions not fighting the best ??

No not at all truss but he has built his way back and he has done what the WBC wanted, we all know the ranking leave a lot to be desired but ok who would you give the shot too? One loss and you want to write a fighter off

I'm happy for anyone to get a shot Truss, I'm firmly of the belief that when your given an opportunity like this you should grab it with both hands.

I'd be a lot happier if we had a better ranking system and that the champions had to fight someone in the top 3 at all times. Unfortunately since we don't we have to put up with what we've got.

Should the champion be given grief for taking what (in your eyes) is a really easy bout, yup he should.
Should the challenger for wanting to beat the best. Definitely not.

I imagine JCC only has to give Suliaman a ring If he wants the number 1 slot.........

Rankings are garbage, champions should want to fight the best (especially those that try and say they are the best) but if an underdog is given a shot give me ONE reason why we shouldn't get behind them.
