There has been a lot of talk regarding the finances of different clubs and even leagues as a whole on here as of late.  So thought this would be a good time to post this.  Posted in the Rugby Paper.

                  Turnover             Operating Profit          Wages

Bath            11.8million           3 million loss          9.2 million (78%)
Exeter          11.3million         1.6 million profit       6.2 million (54.9%)
Gloucester    12million            0.9 million profit       6.9million (57.5%)
Harlequins    15.1million         2.5 million loss         8.9million (58.9%)
Leicester      19.4million         0.5 million profit       9.4million (48.5%)
London Irish  7million             2.7 million loss         5.8million (82.6%)
Newcastle     6.1million          3.6 million loss         6.0million (98.4%)
Northampton 14.9million         0.4 million profit       7.7million (51.7%)
Sale             6million             1.5 million loss        5.2million(86.7%)
Saracens      13.5million         5.2 million loss         9.1million (67.4%)
Wasps          6.5million          4 million loss           6.6million (101.5%)
Worcester     7.9million          5.4 million loss        7.8 million (98.7%)

Bare in mind this is the 2013-14 season.

*Edit*

The league as a whole has a turnover of 131.5 million, operating at 24.5 million loss for 2013-14 and 67.5% being spent on wages.

As always with numbers like these it is always unlikely that all the different numbers are calculated in the same way.

some additional clarity from the Leicester numbers:

Total salaries paid to employees (including directors) comprising 118 playing and coaching staff and 73 admin and support staff = £8.2m
Employers NI = £0.9m
Pension Contributions = £0.35m

(In total Directors paid £334k salary and £82k pension contributions)

I've been told by people on here repeatedly that Bath are definitely breaking the salary cap. Looks like you Tigers boys are in trouble too! Uh oh.

Not at all.

£7.9m paid to players, coaches, support and admin staff.

The 73 fte admin staff on wages varying from minimum wage to around 60k. Say an average of £20k per employee gives £1.5m.

Thus £6.4m paid to Players and Coaches.

First team coaches, Academy coaches etc - at least 10 of them so say £750k.
Academy guys get £25k and are not included in the cap lets call that £500k
Physios and medical staff were employed by the club at the time, lets call that £250k

That brings us to £4.9m.

Cap was around £4.2m plus a marquee player. However long tem injured can be excluded - and we always have loads of those.

Surprised at quins turnover....I guess the location gets us more sponsorship and wealthier supporters, despite the relatively small stadium and turnouts.

It's nice to see lists of numbers but, given all the chat on other threads and in the media, I'm not so certain what people can discuss about them.
Some of them are real number, some of them will be suspect. If you can't compare like with like in a real world then I think it's a little pointless doing any analysis of a number list in a theoretical world.
