I also found their "throw away points" strategy, mainly employed by Heyward-Bey and Scobee.

Gronk looked fantastic.

Brady played well, though he didn't air it out. Only one long pass in the whole game.

He was very efficient, though I still have reservations about his arm strength these days.

Reservations about his arm strength??? Guy is still flinging these short passes! He has lost his accuracy on the deep ball because he tries to touch it in too often rather than just chucking it imo.

Look, he's an amazing QB still but his deep ball has disappeared. Plus, I think that the Steelers will have one of the worst defences in the league this season. It was a cracking display but maybe Pats fans shouldn't get too excited just yet.

Arm strength is more a measure of how you can drive the ball, especially in rain etc. Brady looked fine in that measure. See Sanchez last year for a lack of arm strength.

Deep balls aren't really a part of the Patriots offense because the personnel suits short passes with yac and intermediate routes.

Defence against the run is what worried me most from last night. Happy with the rest, given the emotions that must have been running last night and the changes in personnel.

Steelers threw away a lot of points, mismanaged the clock and were missing key players but you can only play who is in front of you.

To be honest, the defending champ usually wins this game handily.

Only exceptions lately have been the Ravens on the road, and the Giants who weren't a good team anyway.

He can't throw the deep ball, but that's not a measure of arm strength. Guy still razzes it in on the short and intermediate throws, lacks accuracy deep.

We depend solely on Gronk's health. If he's fit into the playoffs we have a shot, if not it's probably divisional round and out

Steelers defense is absolutely shocking, as expected. No idea why everyone is picking them for the Super Bowl. They may make the playoffs but when you face better teams, you can't rely on one side of the ball to carry you through.

So anyway, the Redskins are the same as last year... lots of possession but the offense doesn't have a clue what to with it.... defence starts out ok but once the other team starts to make adjustments they can't get off the field.... and then the special teams give up the obligatory TD.

RG3 isn't around to blame it all now so now the clown coach has no hiding place and can be called out for the loser he is.

I'd be more worried if I was a Dolphins fan though.... they look bad! They had expectations. The Redskins had none.

Phillip Dorsett can't get on the field over Griff Whalen, then when he does he fumbles the punt return.

Find yourself a slot on the bench young man...maybe taking a #WR4 in the 1st round wasn't such a good idea after all

Happy at how the Packers offence is going, but the Defense really not cutting it. Forte is carving it up, there are penalties left right and center and Cutler is completing key 3rd downs too easily.
Loosing Burnett last minute hopefully explains some of it, but its concerning. That said we just got a nice 4th down stop in the red zone when it counted and we should win the game.

From What I've seen it's looked like terribly poor coaching

Redskins offense has actually looked ok between the 20s - it's moved the ball fairly well until reaches the Miami 25 and then either everything stalls or there's a killer turnover. Was like that last season though too and Gruden clearly hasn't been able to fix it.

Spot on Olly... it's been dreadful coaching.

He's just made another terrible decision - 4th and 7 at the Miami 25 with 2.22 left.... just kick the field goal and ask your defense to get a stop with 3 timeouts left - the rest of the game tells you that you aren't going to convert that or get a TD once inside the 20 anyway. Take the 3 points and give yourself a chance at one more possession and hope you can a TD on a big play.
