Welcome to Season 8 of the Aviva Premiership fantasy rugby game.  Below are the rules of the game which must be adhered to.  If there are any situations that arise in the course of the game which are not covered by the rules, a final decision will be made by the RFU (SJE) as to how the situation will be resolved.

Senior Squads wrote:
The maximum squad size is 40 senior players.  If a team has more than 40 players in their squad then they will be fined £1 million per player over the permitted amounts per day for the first seven days. If after 7 consecutive days a team still has more than the permitted number of players then the team will be fined £2 million per player per day, and fined 1 league point per player per day for the next seven days. If after this time a team still has more than the permitted number of players in their squad, the RFU (SJE) will remove players at its discretion to bring them back under the permitted numbers. There will be no right of appeal to players being removed.

Be aware that all tier one international matches which are played during the season will count in the game, and players selected in the match day 23's for those matches will not be eligible to play for their clubs on that weekend, therefore you must give due consideration to the make-up of your squad.
Academy Rules wrote:
Each team will be allowed to have an academy squad of 23 players.  Players who are in the academy must be born on or after 1st September 1993.

Any player, who is at any Premiership club in real life, either in their senior, academy or AASE squads, can be bid for on the domestic bidding page. Players who are at your own club in real life and are coming through the academy system must be bid for if you want them in your own academy.
Transfers wrote:

  • Domestic (other AP Teams)
Each team has a budget to use in the purchase of players. Domestic transfers between AP clubs, regardless of nationality of player, should be negotiated between the respective managers, and then confirmed on the Domestic Transfer Confirmation Page.
  • Domestic (Championship and below)
Each team may during the season purchase no more than 5 players from the Championship or the National Leagues. Worcester Warriors & London Wasps will receive two additional bids to be used exclusively on academy age players. These players must be bid for on the National League Bidding page, and each bid will be considered by the RFU on its own merits before being accepted or rejected.  No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.
  • Foreign
To make a foreign transfer (i.e. from any club outside of the AP, regardless of whether the player is English) a bid should be made on the Foreign Transfers Page, which will be considered by the RFU against the posted guidelines for purchase prices before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.

There will be a summer foreign transfer window, which will run as follows.
    Player Draft
Worcester Warriors & London Wasps will participate in a player draft beginning the week of June 22nd. Both sides will be allowed to draft two players each. The draft picks will go as follows; 1. Worcester 2. Wasps 3. Wasps 4. Worcester.

    Round Bidding
There will be two rounds of bidding. The first window will run the week starting June 29th and the second the week starting July 3rd. All sides will be allowed to sign one player each during the window. These bids are not protected if you do not have the funds in place to bid during the window you will lose the bid.

    Open Bidding
From July 13th the foreign market will be open to all bids similar to previous seasons. Due to the world cup the window will remain open till the end of September.

Player Releases wrote:
Managers may choose to release players from their clubs, for which they will be offered compensation

Compensation will be paid as follows

£2 million – current international (must have played international rugby in the previous 12 months)
£1.5 million – former international
£1m – top flight experience
£0.5m – other

All released players will be deemed to have joined a Championship side and can be bid for on the National League Bidding page.
Retirements wrote:
There will be no compensation for retiring players.  Should a player who retires decide to come out of retirement and play again, then he will automatically go back to the club who he was playing for in the game when he retired.
Fixtures wrote:
There will be 22 Aviva Premiership games per season, plus the play offs. There will also be European Rugby Champions Cup, European Rugby Challenge Cup and Anglo Welsh Cup matches.  These games will take place once a week. A match thread will be put up every Monday. Home teams must be named by midnight on Tuesday. Away teams must be named by midnight on Wednesday. Failure to meet these deadlines is punishable by the addition of three match points to the oppositions final score, unless both sides fail to do so. Both teams must provide tactics by midnight on Thursday. Predictions will be open from 00:01 hours on Friday and remain open until 20:00 hours on Sunday. Managers will pm the scores that they think will happen from these games (apart from games in which they are involved).  An average of all predictions will be taken, and then 0.5 points added to each teams score for each prediction that had them as the winner, and that will then be the final score.

Managers are asked to provide detail as to why they have predicted a result.  To be considered a descriptive prediction this must be a full 3 lines long when entered into the text box.
Teams wrote:
When naming your team, not only should you put the starting XV and replacements, but also tactics that your team will employ. Results will be affected by the tactics described.

In addition, each team must have the following:-

For domestic competition at least 8 England qualified players in your match day 23, and at least 4 of those must be in your starting XV.

For European competition at least 8 England qualified players in your match day 23, and at least 6 of those must be in your starting XV.

At least 2 props and 1 hooker on the bench.

All players must be eligible (not injured or banned).

Failure to comply with these rules will result in a 1 league point deduction.

If you fail to submit a team for a match, then the other team will be automatically awarded a 30-0 bonus point win. If both teams fail to submit a team, then it will be scored as a 0-0 draw.
Injuries and Suspensions wrote:
Injuries in this game do NOT reflect real life, they will be generated by me.

Players banned in real life will be ineligible for selection in this game for the duration of the ban.

Inclusion of injured/banned players will result in them being replaced by players on the bench, and the bench not having eight players, which may result in punishment if it concerns the front-row.

Punishment for fielding an ineligible player will be loss of one match point.
Financial Rewards wrote:
There will be no rewards for the result of an individual match, instead the managers will receive cash for predicting.

£2m for descriptive predictions
£0.25m for scores on the doors predictions
Bonuses will be awarded on a scaled basis i.e. 2m for 5 games, 1.6m for 4 games and so on
If you fail to predict without first advising me that you are unable to do so that week, you will be fined £1m for a first offence, £2m for a second offence, £3m for a third offence etc upto a maximum of £5m per fine.

Lol As he nicks
Loads of ball or Forces mistakes.
His grubber
For barret try today sublime.

To be honest you
Must be the only one
Who is not a fan.
His try the other week when he smashed 3 out the way was mental. Cane is a great 7 and the battle between them will be great.

You used to not rate Billy V so assume
It's the same informed view driving your opinion lol.

NZ just find players Mckenzie, savea, ioane the winger etc etc just a conveyor bel of talent.

Akira Ioane will
Come through in next 2/3 years. Bench all time at moment but a real talent.

Honestly the best finish to a game I have seen live - such a mixed game. Atmosphere was brilliant and whole game changed when Young and AJ came on, Youngs been form no6 in the AP this season for me.

Piautu and Daly were just brilliant in attack today, both so exciting to watch. Slade was very good for Exeter too, have to get him in the England setup.

Last 2-3 games sides have worked out Hughes a little bit, Exeter just tackled him out the game and made quite a few mistakes when put under pressure. Will be a brilliant semi final.

Young been excellent
And slade has time
On the ball which is
A sign of class. Good defender also.

Hughes is a brute but lacks any subtlety which is why I think impact sub will be his role. At top
Level they will
Pressure
His lack of hands and positioning. He is fairly young and will be working on it.

Moriarty for us has transformed himself
In this area. Reads
The game so much better. Has
Been great at 8.

Morgan been great in last 2 games

The only person that doesn't rate him? Really?

I think he's a good player at Super level but he's not a breakdown 7, he's more of a back. No need to lol when attacking me, it's only an opinion, don't get so worked up.

I always said Billy was lazy and overweight, which he was. He's lost weight and improved his work rate no end, he's a completely different player.

Will
Be some semi final. I hope wasps and Leicester go through as have tickets to both finals.

They were less
Than 30 quid for each game but if
It's 2 French sides in challenge will swerve the game as Lyon too good a city to
Waste on a non event.

Will
Go to Saturday final no matter who is in it

I am
No stats person as they do
Not show true picture of rugby or
Any sport but Mckenzie's stats for Chiefs are unreal.
Top 3 on almost every stay except lineout and tackle success.

Mostly saffers top of tackles percentage which shows the way they play.
Look to play without the ball.

McMahon second on clean breaks shows how well he is playing at 7. Usually only backs in that category

Tigers looking very, very strong. Their work at the breakdown is excellent, make it so physical - they are really hitting form at the right time - Betham has been brilliant this season for them. What has happened to Morne Steyn though, sorry Mat, but he makes Cipriani look at top class goal kicker - incredible when you compare him to that Lions year.

Think they said he was on 65% for the season, which you'd never think as he's always been so good. Going to France hasn't worked for him, but he's had a very poor season.

Been impressed with Tigers backrow, McAffrey, O'Connor and Fitzgerald a very good unit. Would like to see O'Connor involved in the Saxons. Veainu has been excellent all season as well.

Stade seems to be a place where SA's go to retire. Steyn and Alberts look like absolute shadows of their former self, neither would get near the SA side these days.

Prop, James Craig would be off the top of my head, played well recently. Ben Nutley played really well to be fair from Sunday, would like to see him pick up some more game time in a back row with Harrison.

Could look at Sean Robinson of Falcons, has been great recently in the line out and the loose.

Good dogged win for Glos. Kvesic, Morgan, savage, thrush all good. Wood and PDJ made a different when they came on. Exeter looked out on their feet by the end. Ref was pretty poor for both sides but hopefully we will finish the season well now.

He has rounded his edges
And is older. He is dynamite
And his defence improving. A Bok Wing for sure.

Glos very good. Kvesic been like that all year.

After speedy dying this week that was a great tribute from Glos. A big shock to all
Glos fans this week and so happy we pulled that out.

His family were
At the game.

Can someone explain how McFadden didn't even get carded for this?! To put it into context he was the last defender too! Reffing in Pro12 is shocking https://mobile.twitter.com/Ltm67/status/721070203069718528/video/1

High no arms that's a genuine red.

He will be cited.

Great article in telegraph today by healey ( gobshoite in my view ) about citings ruining game/

Highlights Kruis and Wilson. Also mentions how Ashton ban too long.
I agree Ashton ban too long but deserved ban.

Almost every game has a citing. I think it must be isolated to certain incidents.
Slo mo makes
Things look worse on certain things like high tackles etc.

Same with cricket. The catch behind the
Wicket in slo mo always looks like it touches the ground when it has been caught

Slow mo has caused alot of issues, look at Warburton in 2011!! Not that I'm still bitter! Think McFadden will be in big trouble, heard an interesting convo about how if the Edinburgh player had stayed down it would have been a definite card, don't want play acting coming into the game.

To be fair Nowell was unlucky as Thorley was going to ground, slow mo made it look worse than it was. Still at that level should just let go of leg in that instance.

It is the inconsistency of the citings that I find amazing, how some get ridiculous bans (Ashton), whilst others get away with very light ones.

Play acting is already in, it is the one thing I really don't like Sexton for, he's done it a few times in games and just lets himself down.

Ashton was a 3 week ban imo maybe however probably a 6 week in reality as he has previous so they can't use the time off for no previous.

For me rugby missed a huge opportunity when not banning sexton for diving. Likewise a French chap did it year before.

Before that yachvilli done it loads and 3 years ago Trinder did it for Glos in a sickening manner for a pen try. It was a low key game and the crowd reaction made Trinder who all Glos fans love apologise.

For me that sexton dive is a 12 month ban. Should be for any player. I am a huge sexton fan but if you watch super rugby, top 14 and Prem the dive when you kick over top is now becoming norm.

It needs stamping out. Sexton one was horrendous and needed dealing with.

Diving as bad or worse than gouging.

Another Glos
Lad bad for it is Freddie Burns. Him and Trinder worst I have seen.

That sexton footage is cheating and pure wrong. He is best NH 10 even out of form. Does not need to do that.

Such a player though.

The worst thing about that sexton one is he is in the ruck and then feigns being thrown on neck which is a red card.

It's so cynical

I had it at my level last week, chased from kick off was going full tilt, guy in air so I put arms away and slowed down, guy dived and rolled and got a pen for it no need at all seeing as I brushed against him, if I give away a.pen I'd rather it was because I had clattered him!!

Had chance to train against Newport rfc last night was a great opportunity and propped against a Wales under 20's lad who naturally did me but I did win a scrum.pen against him
kudos to Newport for dong live training against a lower league team. I even scored a try which will be added to my tally!! Their head coach even stayed behind for 30mins to look at our scrummaging and added small changes for us. Big respect and a great experience!

It makes game even hArder to ref which is what has happened with football.

My brothers lad is in England u13/14 and has a full scholarship to a proper rugby school and I have seen diving in their games. He also has plays for a team called England lambs which is a private school England side and they are not allowed to kick the ball. I admire the ball in hand ethos but kicking is also part of the game. Will greenwood stopped his lad playing for England lambs for same reason apparently.

It's also same with whenever a maul is called everyone dives wrong side to stop ball coming out. Also happens whenever a player is driven over line players jump in to obscure camera.

Nowell should have been red carded tonight and will be cited ( he was yellowed but think you can now cite even if yellowed)

It was much worse than Watson red which was a yellow but borderline red( he tripped over Ashton and then Ashton behaved like an Ass and pushed him which influenced ref)

England trained against hartpury during 6n who are now national 1 in cinderfords league. Jones used them as opposition loads of times.

Diving will become an issue if not dealt with harshly. In top 14 been some awful dives. Parra a massive dive offender since he lost ability to play. Used to be such a player now he moans and is not allowed to kick goals

Nz stopping player movement with this cash. Rumoured SBW offered to be part of core leader group for NZ and cash more than what Toulon offered. Looks like he will go to Chiefs or blues

I wonder if Wasps will employ Daly as primary kicker with Cips so bad from the tee. You won't win close games with a 60% kicker, really interesting to see how they'll line up.

Cips and Daly dreadful in defence but could really click in attack, they'll be great to watch next season.

Huge game for us and Irish on Sunday, really worried.
