Chesham City vs MU

Chesham

---------------------Burki
---------Umtiti --- Godin -- Silva
Costa ---- Xhaka -- Gundogan -- Mkhitaryan
-------------------Firmino
---------------Suarez --Gamiero

Subs: Lopez, Mascherano,Gamez,Masina,Didavi,Narsingh,Eder

Godin to stick on main forward, bully him physically
Umtiti & Silva to cover with pace and watch for wingers coming inside
Xhaka to sit deep and put tackles, hit long passes out wide
Gundogan to go box to box linking the play and make runs into box
Costa to run at the full backs with pace and trickery
Mkhitaryan to cut in off the wing, link play & run beyond defense after
Firmino to drift between defence and DM's to create chances
Gamiero to run in behind defense
Suarez to get at the defense with dribbling and finish clinically

Subs - Mascherano for Firmino if winning put 3-5-2
Eder for Gamiero if losing

Man Utd

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Casillas
Lahm Tah Zouma Maxwell
Kante
Pjanic------Vidal
Robben Ibrahimovic Sanchez

Subs
Varela
Motta
Alonso
Ben Arfa
Vardy

Injuries
Pepe Reina
Lucas Hernandez
John Terry

Tactics
Gone with 3 in midfield to control the tempo and dictate the game. CB to mark zonally don't get dragged in, FB to show wingers outside forcing them cross the ball into box. Kante play deepest, protect the defence, intercept passes and keep it simple, Pjanic/Vidal take turns to get forward offer Kante assistance in defending look to switch balls to our wingers quickly. Sanchez/Robben come inside with FB giving width. Play in Ibra or get on goal yourself. Ibra play within 18 yard box hold ball look for teammates or even take a shot.

SUB 70 MIN
Robben off Ben-Arfa on (Fresh Legs)

SUB 75 MIN IF WINNING
Pjanic off Motta on (Defensive minded player)

SUB 75 MIN IF LOSING
Kante off Vardy on

Pjanic Vidal
Robben---------Sanchez
Ibrahimovic Vardy

RESULT Chesham 1 Man United 3
Gamiero - Pjanic, Sanchez 2

I'm not a fan of the formation that nando chose. For it to work better he should have instructed his wingers to help out in defence but even that would have not made a huge difference tbh. If you want to play that formation your gonna need better defensive players on the wings aka someone like Candreva. It was easy pickings for Sanchez against Umtiti.

Lianomg vs Crawley

Lianomg

INJURIES
Tyias Browning
Kelechi Iheanacho
Jordan Pickford

-----------------------------Hart-----------------------------
----Juanfran---------Laporte---------Pepe--------Guerreiro----
--------------------Casemiro---------Matuidi------------------
----Payet--------------------------------------------Coman----
-----------------------Griezmann------------------------------
-----------------------------Aguero---------------------------

BENCH
Iraizoz
Smalling
Blind
Lemina
Thiago Alacantra
El Ghazi
Dembele

SUBSTITUTIONS
If winning - Bring on Thiago for Coman, play Griezmann and Payet either side of Aguero and close out the game with the extra midfielder.
If losing - El Ghazi and Thiago for Coman and a CM, add passing range to the midfield and fresh legs out wide.

TACTICS (100 words)
At home so sticking with our successful two up top formula from last week, Aguero getting in behind with Griezmann drifting wide looking for space. Hummels is a good defender but exploit his lack of pace. Focus on using Payet and Juanfran down the right as their left back is a weakness. Pepe is to deal with Costa and his WUMMery with Laporte looking to cover. Reus is their main threat in attack, if he plays central then Casemiro's main job will be to shackle him, if he plays wide I want that full back to slightly limit their attacks.

Crawley

Schmeichel
Clyne-Hummels-Boateng-Tremoulinas
Niguez---Gabi
Mertens------------Nolito
Costa-Reus

Team talk
We want to play on the counter again this week, breaking with urgency and tempo down the flanks primarily with the FBs providing overlapping runs. I want to hammer home our advantage in this area. Niguez & Gabi to sit in front of the back 4, hustle their midfielders when the ball enters that area, and be alert to cover the FBs. Reus to play off Costa who will act as a focal point, expect Reus and the wingers to rotate throughout the game to confuse the defense. Plenty of service from out wide into Costa.

RESULT - Lianomg 2 Crawley 1
Payet, Aguero - Boateng
Close match which could have gone either way. Costa didn't get a sniff in the whole game with Pepe keeping him on lockdown. Reus was finding it hard to find space in the centre with Casemiro man marking him but he found some joy when he moved to the wings. Aguero got the better of Hummels. Gsc had good tactics but there were no word on how his centre backs should play and who to mark etc.

I felt Hummels and Boateng were experienced enough together to work it out :P.

Oh well will make a note of that for next time. Fair play Trebs

Cheers Nadz and GSC, good game. Boateng is a monster, I don't fancy anyone's chances against him.
