Here's a side by side overview of PGAT, ET, WEB, LPGA & Champions Tour schedules...

I'd never appreciated how short a Web.com season is.

Always baffles me how they have three or four early tournaments, then disappear for a month or more. Challenge Tour does the same thing.

NedB, Super... Makes sense to me, in fact I'm impressed the Web and Challenge Tours can put on the 26-27 event schedules they do. Almost no TV coverage, and usually crappy late night replay for the Webbies when they get it... and I don't know what the Challenge Tour gets. it's a TOUGH sponsor sell.

But still... the Web.com Tour is "long enough" to meet it's objectives (1) feed the PGA Tour with battle tested players and (2) provide a "livable" income situation so players have a chance to stay in "the minors" long enough to have a chance to develop. Last year 62 players earned $100k or better, and with some of their expenses covered via sponsorship etc... it's a living. Not a grand living, but enough they're not starving.

This year the web is 27 events and most all the better players play in most all of them. The average events played on the PGAT is 26. The average events played by the full exempt Webbie players (taking out the part timers) was 22 events last year in a 26 event schedule.

The Challenge Tour is a LOT harder to make a living on... only 17 players making $100k equiv or better (abt €85k)... and the travel expenses of playing in 27 events in 21 countries has to be enormously higher than playing the Web.com (Web.com plays 6 of it's first 8 in Caribbean/Latin America but the rest stateside) Web.com plays for an average of $685k average purse, Challenge Tour plays for $284k average USD equivalent (€242k) or about 41% of the Web.com Tour.

Worthy of a "sticky" I'd say. Certainly more worthy than some of the other stickies that are over a year old!

So's the Fantasy League 2017 (can we start one for 2018?), the Open Championship 2017 (ditto) and even the Ryder Cup, unless it's being kept there for September!
