Keeper Rules

- 3 players per year max.
- Can keep players twice (so three years total per guy) before forcible release.
- Players take the value of their draft round in the first redraft.
- Players move up in value by 5 rounds for the second redraft, or as high as they can go otherwise.
- If you end up with stacked picks (multiple players as keepers who count as the same round) they build up backward. e.g. if my keepers are draft picks 3, 4 and 5, I would lose draft picks 3, 4 and 5 in the first redraft and 1, 2 and 3 in the second as each player would be upgraded to an effective 1st rounder by the 5 round rule and therefore stack up.
- Undrafted players are valued at round 10 for the first redraft.
- Traded players initially count as there drafted position with the +5 rule in effect for all subsequent years.
- Years of eligibility are team specific, based on the round value of the player when traded to you. e.g. if a player is drafted in round 12 and is kept by another team for one season they will be valued as a round 7 pick when traded in year two due to the +5 rule.
- Abuse of the above rule by trading away a player over the keeper period only to get them back afterward will invalidate the resetting of two year eligibility.
- Once a player has no eligibility left on a given team they will count as a 1st rounder if traded away to somebody else and retained

Per the other league post, it’s time to think about the keeper NFL fantasy league for the upcoming season. I will update the top post in the usual fashion soon, but for now if you could let me know your status for the year, and also your opinions on possible draft dates for this league per the below options.

Additionally, can you attempt to set your keepers for the upcoming season by close of play Sunday 22nd August that would be great. You can do this by going My Team > Set My Keepers.

Note that Patrick Mahomes, Christian McCaffrey and Philip Lindsay must be released this year due to hitting the keeper limits. Everyone else is fair game, although do remember that draft positions shift up 5 rounds for anyone kept last year – you can refer to last year’s league post to see who that was.

There is definitely a bit where you can tell it what positions to draft per round, so as to prevent it drafting kickers and defences by default in rounds 8 and 9

Its called "Edit Preferred Positions"... it appears above the rankings list that it wants you to use.

Anyway, something I have tended to do in the past is use FantasyPros to generate a power ranking for the league, which is maybe fractionally more useful than NFL.com's system.

This gives the below, although I do reckon mine and BamBam's tendency to not draft a K / DST probably messes the system up slightly.

Also has a vastly different opinion of Olly's ability to draft...

Sounds like an incorrect fantasy scoring site to me

So an interesting turn up for books... I bid for someone on waivers, as my primary option with highest bid, and the system ignored me and gave me my 2nd option... despite nobody else out bidding me

Any guesses on who...

One week to go before the playoffs... top 7 separated by 1 game, anyone could win a division, anyone could be eliminated and only 4 places to fight for!

Well, the Bath City Blues won't be there, but good luck to to everyone fighting for a PO spot.

What bugs me is 1385pts gets a 4-10 record, but 60 more Pts (1445) in the Central has me at 11-3!!

So BamBam and Mikeygnfl take the divisions. It's a divisional affair in the semi finals, so god luck to the four that made it!

Congrats Forward Pass, winning a close one

So we have officially completed a decade of the Keeper league, with 10 seasons now done. Forward Pass snuck past BamBam to take the crown, having been the top scoring team all season, despite only getting the 3 seed overall. Forward Pass is the 9th different winner in only 10 seasons, so we have done well with equity over the years! Despite the extra game, this was not the top historical scoring season, with that crown still set by BamBam back in 2013.
It was a very narrow season, with the top 7 teams split by only 2 victories. In a classic case of "that helps no-one", the single week record for the season was taken by me in the consolation playoff final, although it does give me a 4th consolation title with an unblemished 8-0-0 all time record in the losers playoffs!
