The red pen of modding!
First topic message reminder :
Hello everyone!
Thought I’d better you aware of a slight change we’re implementing from this point onwards.
It’s been mentioned on a couple of occasions that it’s hard for members to be able to tell when a mod/admin is speaking as a mod rather than as a member especially as the admin/mods have more of a presence on this site compared to the mods on the old 606 site.
So in order to clearly define when a mod/admin is wearing their mod hat so to speak they shall now post all instructions etc using a red font like this, this is to be used as a minimum hopefully (though we need your help for that!). Any mod/admin posting in the normal font colour is a normal post and it’s to be treated as you would a regular poster.
If you wish to discuss a matter that a mod/admin raises then we advise to do so via PM in order to keep disruption to the thread to a minimum. Mods & Admin shall also endeavour to raise any issues they have in private when it is necessary.
If anyone wishes to discuss this further then please do not hesitate to contact myself.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.

I therefore now have a disclaimer that I am not responsible for any mental stress caused by red font issues.
My wife is a teacher and although a red pen isn't banned as such they're told/encourage to use green instead. Not sure what will when kids start associating green with 'bad'. Might make for some nervous times on the roads.

My wife is a teacher and the school she is in now has no problem with red pen. However, when she was training another teacher gave a girl an A and 19/20 on a piece of work - in red. The girl complained that the colour demoralised her and the teacher was told off!

Have not been on much today but having a quick skim through the posts suspect had he been around windy would have had cause to use his red pen more than it used to appear on my school reports. Honestly, about time you kids learned to play nicely.

Re: The red pen of modding!
Hero, I haven't had the chance to converse with you yet but I would say that this is a great forum and although I only contribute, and I use that term lightly, to the boxing page, I really think you have done a good job here. But.......one thing I have noticed is that sometimes the friction between mods/admin is pretty much down to the opinion that you guys are a little heavy handed and aloof. Now, for me, I don't really care about all that stuff, and have never faced it myself, but started to post in red is only going to exacerbate the ill-feeling.
I mean, what kind of poster really complains that they can't tell when a mod is writing as a mod and not a poster? Has our collective intellect really fallen that low. Sounds more like complaints for the sake of complaining. Surely we should trust the gumption of posters to understand when they are getting a cyber-spanking rather than posting in red like a rather strict headmaster? Those posters that can't distinguish, well post it again to them untill it sinks in.

Mind the windows Tino,
The benefit is really for the reverse.
It is so that when we type in the standard colour, members can see that we are contributing as members with our own opinions and not with our 'Mod or Admin hat on'.

It has been brought up a couple of times that as mods/admin we shouldn’t post on the site as members but just in a moderator role which I believe personally is unfair, none of us get paid for the role and we do it purely to keep it running smoothly.
It should allow for the vast majority of occasions for articles to run a lot smoother, I’ve also advocated that for matters to be dealt with for the most part in private via PM, it’s not always possible, sometimes it’s a group thing so in that occasion a warning on the article is necessary.
The process though is always for review so if it is something that people feel isn’t working we can address it.
