Here is the new Gloucester rugby kit launched today.

Spoiler:

Kooga's Press release:
The home playing shirt maintains the cherry and white hoops which have proved so popular with supporters but features a couple of modern touches while the away version is a totally new, predominantly black design.

Gloucester Rugby's Head of Sales and Marketing, Pete Grzonka, explained some of the thinking behind the new partnership and the shirts themselves:

"Reminiscent of Gloucester Rugby's traditions, history and heritage this year's home shirt features the traditional club hoops but with a modern twist. The black overlaid panels to the shoulders and waist give the illusion of wider shoulders and smaller trim waist.

"In terms of sports psychology, this attention to detail plays a vital part in the team's mental positivity. They look bigger fitter and more athletic which in turn intimidates opposition.

"These design details will hopefully flatter our avid supporters who choose to purchase and wear a replica shirt.

"This year's away shirt colour offers a move away from the traditional Gloucester red and opens up a whole range of leisure wear options to fans based on its ox blood print.

"We have been advised by the design team at KooGa that Ox blood is a deep red very much on trend within sports design for the coming season. It is an entirely new colour for the club and I hope you will agree when mixed with black is a striking combination."

"We have also made the decision that we will keep the cherry and white hooped design for two seasons with the away shirt changing on a season by season basis."
Thoughts?

Gloucester have gone to Kooga as their new shirt providers:

Andrew Hazell, Dave Lewis, Jonny May, Dan Murphy and Luke Narraway were at Kingsholm on Friday afternoon to help unveil Gloucester Rugby's new look playing shirts, produced in conjunction with KooGa, for the 2011-12 playing season.

The new partnership was announced recently with Kooga becoming Gloucester's official kit supplier for the next four seasons.

As a result the new shirts have been eagerly awaited, by players and supporters alike, and the players were happy to break off from training to model them.

"We're designed to be working with KooGa who are a specialist rugby brand, dedicated to developing the best and most effective product for players. At the forthcoming Rugby World Cup 2011, 7 of the teams will be wearing KooGa kit - more than any other brand."

And on the new home and away shirts themselves:

One other slight amendment from last season's version sees a new look logo on the sleeve from main sponsor Jewson with Sponsorship Manager, Mira Popovic, explaining the reason for the change.

"Both Gloucester Rugby & Jewson are successful leaders in their selective fields with Jewson celebrating a landmark 175 years of trading in 2011. We look forward to displaying our 175 logo on the sleeve of the new Gloucester shirts with pride over the forthcoming season.

"We are proud to be entering our fifth season as Gloucester Rugby's main sponsor and we think the new shirt is a winner."

Other changes include a new look logo from Worthington's, Downton are now featured on the back of the shirt as opposed to the shorts and allpay and Hartpury College logos, who have continued their sponsorship, will feature on the replica versions

Also present was John Hudson from Hudson Sports who have just taken over management of the club shop at Kingsholm and overseen a recent refurbishment.

The replica shirts will be available for pre-order from the club shop at Kingsholm, from Hudson Sports on Northgate Street and online from Monday onwards.

Orders will be fulfilled within 24 hours of the shirts arriving in stock which is anticipated to be in late August.

Notes to editors:

The new smoother feel fabric and improved anti-static behaviour of the players' liquid pro shirts enhance comfort during performance.

Liquid pro offers the very best in terms of moisture transportation. Its hydrophilic properties draw moisture away from the skin forcing it onto the garment outer where it evaporates. This allows the body core temperature to remain balanced and performing at its optimum level.

The tight compressive fit of the shirt reduces muscle oscillation during movement which in turn increases the efficient power output. The compression also enhances blood flow, stimulating the supply of oxygen to critical muscle groups which in turn promotes less lactic acid damage.

KooGa will work alongside Gloucester's pro team to ensure they are wearing the very best cutting edge technology at all times both in training and when they take to the field.

The liquid pro performance shirt is also available for fans to purchase and is an exact replica of that worn by the Gloucester squad.

The alternative Gloucester replica shirt has a looser more relaxed cut and features Evaporex II, the next generation of our revolutionary evaporex fabric.

The shirt is re-engineered from stitch construction to ensure a new cutting edge model of performance, handle and comfort. It features a polyester thermo regulating mix to wick perspiration away from the skin to create ideal body climate.

Vital moisture transfer has been enhanced by a subtle weight reduction ensuring the maximum amount of moisture is drawn away from the skin and forced to the surface to evaporate leaving you cool and comfortable, this enhancement in construction provides an unsurpassed degree of function, fit and wearability.

By purchasing the new Gloucester Rugby Replica Shirt you are benefitting from some of the technological advances available to elite rugby athletes.

KooGa and Gloucester Rugby - balancing tradition with technical innovation for the discerning player and supporter.
