The 1st test between England and India at Lords will be the 2000th test ever played. And it will be the 100th test match between England and India.

Sachin Tendulkar is poised on 99 international centuries. And he's never scored a ton at Lords.

As a stats geek and neutral fan, I really hope he brings up the 100th ton at Lords - ticking all those stats boxes just feels right.

It would be something special. I would love to see the great Tendulkar get it. I cant honestly think of another batsman more deserving of such a stat.

Ajit Agarakar scored his maiden century at lords in 2002.

Cirkeet is a funny game innit??

I deleted your duplicate post Active Smile

Hadn't Agarkar just done that massive sequence of ducks right before that too?

Oh Agarkar!! please say no more, he was the weirdest cricketer, he was the fastest in taking the 1st 100 wickets in the history, giving so much hope to India, and he was always the 1st to get the berak through, by removing the top batsmen, and then??
the rest is history, I dreaded, when ever he stepped on to the ground, expecting India to lose the game and 9/10 India lost, the infamous world cup game against Kenya in Leicester?? in 1999 is the a prime example how he mamaged to lose the winning game, India lost, Henry Olonga was the man of the match. that (loss of points) hurt India through out the tournament.

Surely the people at Lords will have already prepared a special reception should Tendulkar achieve this land mark. It would be horrible to see it treated as just another ton if he does.

Its a recored that may never be beaten so should be made into something special.

How do you work that one out?

If England beat India, they can't call themselves the real number 1 side until they beat India IN India. Last time I checked that was 30 odd years ago.

Tendulkar's 100s and Bradman's average will remain unbeatenfor ever and more.

Tendulkar has played for 20 years for his 99 hundreds and with T20s becoming more popular, his ODI haul will never be matched.

cricketfan90, for once we will have to disagree Smile

Even if India do lose this series (which i doubt that they will) they will still have every right to claim that they are still the #1 team. Getting to #1 isnt measured on individual series but on years of consistent performance.

India have been the most consistent team for the last few years as their #1 ranking shows. 1 series loss would not affect that.

True cricketfan90, we dont have to agree.
Really cant wait for play to begin, this is going to be a cracker.
Cant see England winning the series but this has to be their best chance for many years.
