I'm talking the CC not One Dayers/T20's which Gregory has been poor in this year.

Kieswetters 22 so I would say still young enough:P

mis read the title ok yeah take out Gregory as CC hasnt been his game.

Maybe for dissapointment then Jos Buttler? yes he got that 100 recently but after last year the expectation would be him being one of Somerset's top scorers, however his performances were at the level which saw him dropped

The only reason I didn't pick him was simply because of that century just feel that Hussains been a bigger let down towards your side.

fair point i just felt the expectations were different, Hussain still got 20 wickets where Buttler hit 274 runs averaging just under 25

Agree with all of them mate apart from Rashid, he's averaging 24 this season says something when Ryan Sidebottom has a higher average than him. Been a poor year all-round for Rashid

State of play for Surrey. Liam's suggestion for Surrey were about right at the time, though Meaker has faded somewhat:

Batter: de Bruyn (even tho' he seems to have gone off the boil atm)
Bowler: Tim Linley (winning at a canter - incredible consistency)
Young: Stuart Meaker (excellent early season but latterly has had injury and form has dipped); Roy is coming up on the rails after successive centuries in the CB40; fair chance that Roy could snatch this coveted title if we can take CB40 into account - but he needs to do more in the cc ....
Disappointment: Chris Jordan (hasn't played much -but sadly doesnt seem to show signs of recapturing form after his long injury)

Very much agree with the Corporal's nominations and comments.

In the Disappointment category, a (dis)honourable mention should also go to Gary Wilson.

Probably the greatest disappointment to Surrey supporters was the premature retirement of Michael Brown although that was far more down to injury than form.

Guildford - difficult one that - in some ways I think that Wilson is a good candidate for biggest disappointment in terms of the dramatic tail off compared to his efforts last year. However, there is a case for saying that last year he did rather better than most people (well me in particular) had expected.

If we are restricting ourselves to the cc only I am wondering whether the Hyphen (Hamilton-Brown) might be emerging as a reasonable candidate for our young player of the season. OK his average is respectable rather than spectacular but over the season he is approaching 1000 runs. If Brown had been available and played regularly as an opener I think we would have been pleased enough with an average of around 40.

Corporal - as you say, what has been so disappointing about Wilson is the speed at which his form has fallen away. Probably naively, I had hopes of him carrying on where he left off last season. He seems a long way now from the CC side that he was in back in April and May.

Hyphen has probably performed better than a fit Brown would have done (Brown scored just under 1,000 CC runs in 2009 and averaged early 30s) and is a good shout for our young player of the season. However, I have far from given up hope of another young batsman coming fully good over the next three CC matches ....
