World War Z Empty World War Z

Post by Adam D Tue Aug 16, 2011 11:23 pm

Some of you might have read the book by Max Brookes already (it is rather excellent in my opinion) but they have just started filming the Brad Pitt starring Hollywood version of it.

The film is apparently changing the focus of the book (whcih is a real shame) but I am still willing to give it a chance - after all, it has Bryan Cranston in it (Hal from Malcolm in the Middle).

Anyway, the filming is currently taking place in Glasgow. I went for the part of an extra on it at an open casting but wasnt invited. I took this as a compliment that I didnt look Zombie like until I found out they only wanted extras for the "normal" people. So I am not normal looking either.

Anyway, for anyone interested, they are filming in George Square and the city has one of those live webcam things. If you want to take a look at whats ging on at the moment, you can here:

So lets here your thoughts on this upcoming film.....

Anyone find it quite bizarre that they're filming it in Glasgow yet they've decked the place out to look like New York?
Just use New York?

For a start, I believe its supposed to be Philadelphia but I get your point.

The simple answer its cheaper. Some states offer tax breaks to film (for example the Walking Dead films in Georgia due to a 35% tax break for filming there).

It used to be Ireland was a popular place to film in, as is Australia, New Zealand and Malta.

However, I am guessing that the Strong (or is it weak) £ to $ rate makes UK a good place to film. Glasgow has a lot of people who look like zombies I guess.

Actually scrap that as the reason for Glasgow within the UK - we have a grid system on our roads similar to the US. So it was us or Milton Keynes I guess.

And even Glasgow seems nice compared to the concrete cows.

Should have just asked a few hoodies to paint their faces grey last week and filmed Manchester or Tottenham, would saved a few more $ then.

Though HDTVVVVV's doesn't quite have the same ring to it as BRAINNNNSSS.

They couldn't have used Milton Keynes - there's too many roundabouts and they don't have them in NYC do they?

Haha yeah it was but you never know they might have father and son team up to do the script.

Aye it'll be cheaper for them, they'll save a ton on those zombie effects as there's loads of zombies living here to start with anyway.
