USO Day 4
First topic message reminder :
Watching Fed Sela on Eurosport. They are so pro Fed there those 2 commentators (not sure who they are). "Saying that's the way and speed tennis should be played at" after a 26mn 1st set!
They were also complaining at the extra time at change of ends ordered by CBS. The referees there have to extend the time to allow more TV advertising. The players don;t tend to respect it and leave their chairs before time is called.
The USO is the worst slam for me.

Re: USO Day 4
So Dr Ivo did for Gasquet . Amazed Dolgopolov pulled through.
Fed looked fine
Surprised that Cilic won so easily - I know he has flashes of brilliance but he hasn't really shown form lately, and I thought Tomic would put up a better fight - not a lot to cheer about younger generation in this tournament. Now going to be chewing my nails about Fed vs Cilic encounter, and I was hoping to save them until Tsonga How times is changed - so complacent (rightly) about their meeting in AO QF 2010! Didn't watch any of Tsonga match but he seems in awesome (Fed slaying???) form. He is one of my absolute favourites, but I'd rather like him to stop beating up Fed for the moment!
Fantastically entertaining match with Monfils and Ferrero - fantastic result for JCF rolling back the years I love Monfils, he is so engaging and such a showman but he is sooooooooooooo exasperating too, and I do wonder whether some of the extravagent showboating didn't cost him a lot of energy in the 5th.

Going to bed now (finally) leaving Djokovic leading his hapless opponent 6 0, 6 0 , 1
C'mon now Nole - play nice and let Carlos have the ball for a bit!

Screech is on fire today.
His opponent must be hoping that he gets saved by the bell.

Happy with my match of the day pick. The gasquet Dr Ivo match was certainly open and Ivo played really well. He is a talent but with poor mobility in today's physical world. But the high bounce and slow surface certainly helps him.

Can't see how considering Fed is seen as GOAT by many whilst you don't rate Murray and so by rights you should be crediting Murray for every win he gets for winning when you don't expect him to.
Federer is not considered GOAT by many for winning against lower ranked players. GOAT consideration are for other achievements and this place is too small to mention all of those.
Why are you bringing Murray when the post is about US OPEN matches on day 4? Was Murray playing on day 4? And every time someone mentions a good play by Federer, why you feel that he/she must also mention about how great Murray plays and acknowledge his great wins and the whole list of achievements Murray has got. Its not Murray's fans (or any player's fans) "rights" to claim appreciation and credit. You seem to love talking about Murray all the time, but not necessarily everyone one here.
You want to rate Murray as GOAT candidate? Alright. Kindly start a new thread and we can talk there.

What happened to Nole in the third bit careless to mislay two games!
It doesn't seem as if he is feeling that shoulder atm - thankfully.

Re: USO Day 4
I honestly reckon Karlovic will prove too solid for the error prone dolgo, almost losing to some low player like Cipolla indicates to me that Alex is not striking the ball well, Ivo will get home in 4 should they both play like they have been for those who think Davydenko will cause Novak any trouble, there are some players (of quality) who are never able to beat the top seeds in the slams: Henman, Cilic, Gasquet... add Nikolai to that list my friendslegendkillar wrote:Josiah Maiestas wrote:dolGODolov pulls through winning the last 5 games

Davy on top form would be a handful for anyone, unfortunately he hasn't been on top form for over 18 mths.
He has the ability to take time away from Djoko.

Certainly not. I don't want Federer to learn anything from Monfils. Not even the split!
Federer is doing fine!
Dunno Tenez, Monf rules! Love the heart and flair!

Re: USO Day 4
Really? No heart and no flair if you ask me.
He hasn't got the heart to go for more winnners when we all know he could. Prefers to cover the ground like a headless chicken instead of using his power and skills.
Yes a showman...but a good tennis player? not sure. I can't see him stay at number 7...and without his legs, he would probably be ranked 50 or lower.

Re: USO Day 4
Monfils seems dense the way he plays the game - he has no interest in pacing himself. I recall him taking the 1st set off nadal a while back and doing so much crazy celebrating it must have take a game out of his legs.
He's run out of steam many times now.
Still, he must be good to be #7 in the Golden Era!

lol - Dolgopolov runs hot and cold, but mainly cold hence he has a lonely 250 title!
Money is very safe on Novak I would think - straight sets.

Money is very safe on Novak I would think - three entertaining, free flowing, jaw dropping straight sets.

I think Dolgopolov will dispatch Dr Ivo IMO.
I know that Dolly runs hot and cold, but still it will be a good match to watch should he meet Djokovic.
