Another Moderator required

As the board is becoming busier, I think it would be worthwhile having another moderator vote to add to Oxrings position.

If you would like to nominate yourself (or someone else) please do so below.

We will put up the voting thread tomorrow. If you would like to put yourself forward, please do so - and can everyone respect peoples nominations and hold no grudges.

The people that I would like for you to consider are listed below. I have come up with a short list as I think it is a more sensible way of doing it. These people have been shortlisted due to their contributions to the board so far and are known to the moderation team as suitable candidates who would moderate fairly and correctly.

If any name on this list is going to split the boxing board, then please let your feelings below be known - an overwhelming support for removal will be listened to.

Although I do not wish to single out any one candidate, I feel that D4 deserves a mention. He is quite a controversial figure but has been a good contributor to the board so far. I will include him on the list (he wanted to be considered last time) but if the vote goes the same way as the last one, this shouldnt concern some posters of his inclusion.

that is why he didnt make my original list, however, this is a democracy and I wanted people to vote (or not in his case)

Nice list, some good respectable posters there who will do well in the role i feel, unfortunate Rowley can't do it as i'm sure he would have had a few votes but totally understandable, looking forward to the results and good luck to everyone

Not that I think anyones comments were that bad, can't you warn individuals by PM if you have to rather than locking threads? Stifles the debate and takes the momentum from the conversation. You will put people off if every comment is picked upon, or mod too harshly.

I've got a problem with D4 being a mod. Nothing personal, but when we first started coming over to V2 from BBC, there was immediately a list of Manny/Floyd "articles" by D4thincarnation and more than one person on BBC said they weren't coming over because of this. It's because of people like D4 that we have mods, so he sure as hell shouldn't be one.

I'd vote Rowley or Windmill

Rowley doesnt want to mod, so he's out - the poll will go up later (after I have found out from Imperial).

The quicker we can get guys in, the better.

Prespective? The principle is the same. Just cos the lad doesn't get riled doesn't make him suitable for the role of moderator. His almost psychotic pro-Manny stance would suggest that any thread which mentions Pac (seems like about one in ever five degenerate into a Manny-fest) is hardly likely to be moderated fairly.

I know Jeff's refused the task but in theory he'd be ideal. Seeing as there's only four people who post articles about anything pre-dating 1950, the number or articles where he's have a less than impartial view is likely to be significantly less than anything D4 can get involved in. Besides which, you ever tried dragging D4 away from a Manny related topic to focus on anything else?

Look, I've known D4 for many years over on the bbc world politics board (before I was banned for constant abusive language when insults were thrown at me). We agreed on many issues. I am diametrically opposed to him on the Manny/Floyd though. D4 has always put his case across fairly on the world politics board although on the Manny/Floyd case he is prone to the occassional 'lapses' in concentration where facts are sometimes overlooked and replaced with emotion.

I reckon he would be a first class mod and extremely liberal in allowing most posts to stand.

Hi guys, the role of the mod is to lock/ merge/ delete any threads that are either offensive (sexist/ racist/ overly hostile or libelous) or duplicate or wumming.

The mod is not here to censor opinions as everyone is entitled to their point of view.

And remember guys, us Admin team are always around if you think something has been moderated unfairly

At the end of the day, you guys vote and given the opinion here, the chances of him being successful are slim. But if..........IF he is successful he should be given the chance to prove himself, and if he gets out of hand then that is for us Admins to take action and we will happily put our hands up and admit we were wrong, although i don't see this beinng the case.

Personally otherthen myself I would vote for Human Windmill or D4.
