Why did he leave his wife?

He got married in 2009, had a kid, then left them a year later to 'concentrate on tennis', according to his ex. Presumably to concentrate on not getting any worse, since he hasn't gotten any better.

Do you think tennis players are affected by their social lives? I know Nadal is a bit odd with his girlfriend, but Roger and Novak seem to have a good relationship with their wives/girlfriends.

Definetly affected by their marital relationships. It was one of the things that killed Borg's career prematurely he went throw a financial and emotionally draining divorce the year he left tennis. Mardy fish married the lovely Stacy Gardner and instantly went on the best run of his career the last couple of years. And she even got him to start wearing socks.

I hope Novak frankly never plays Davis Cup again. It was great, it helped build his confidence and he won the nation of serbia their biggest sporting honor in its young history. That should be enough, he simply can not keep getting to the finals of every tournament and playing davis cup. His body is already showing signs of wear. He had the knee bandage on in the spring, his shoulder went numb in cincy, and his back started to give out at the end of the USO.
