The shpae he was in to get beaten up by Randy Couture was an embarrassment to both boxing AND UFC.

Dedication has stopped him being a top 10 or 20 ATG fighter for sure. He still achieved a lot to still be a hall of famer, its scary to think how good he would have been if he put the effort in training.

Hobo I think he was told before the fight he wasn't getting paid and tax people were taking away his entire purse which surely played a part in his poor performance. James Toney had the balls to go into UFC against their legend, lets see Randy Couture against him in boxing.

Top 10 or 20 is a stretch. Big Toney fan but even on his best nights Nunn was outboxing him until he got to him. Nothing to suggest Jones doesn't beat him at any stage, even considering that he was probably drained in that fight. Lets not forget that most thought Tiberi had the better of him, at what should be around his prime; not sure that happens to anyone who is ever going to be that high all time.

If he has a tax bill, then he should have paid it. Do I go into my work and say, screw it. I owe the taxman £20 so I am not going to shave, I will wear shorts and smell?

No - if you are a fighter - you owe it to the fans to put in your best performance irrelevant of where the money is going. He made his bed with the taxman, and he shouldnt use that as an excuse for not trying.

As for Randy getting in to the boxing ring with him, 90% of UFC fighters would still lose to Toney in a boxing match, even in that shape. Boxers train on that one discipline and will beat even the best UFC fighters in a boxing only match - no argument from me there.

He should not still be fighting; sounds like this fight was embarassing.

Toney has some serious boxing skills and it''s a pity he has neglected his body over the past few years, the heavyweight division is screaming for someone to take control but Toney doesn't have that same fire in his belly.

His venture into MMA was a mistake and it made me mad listening to Rogan etc tell us how we know now which sport is superior, give me a break, Toney didn't have a clue what he was doing on the ground, he was lying flat on his back with his leg streched out nice and relaxed and didn't see him attempt to get up once, he obviously did no ground work for the fight, maybe he never done any training but like Hobo says the comparison is always what would happen in the octagon, not what would happen if MMA fighters slipped on a pair of boxing gloves and stepped in the ring, there would be no comparison.

It's good to see the big man get a win but i don't want to see him go on if his heart isn't in it, his post fight interviews have got to be second only to an angry Iron Mike

Once properly trained, never in a million years is JT a heavyweight boxer of any calibre. Granted he beat Holy but Holy is a shell of his former self. He's a LHW at best.

He was a very good Cruiserweight to be fair Azania.

But there is simply no way a man of about 5.8 should be weighing what he does nowadays.

Toney doesn't have that same fire in his belly.

I'd disagree. When he was tipping the scales at about 215-220lbs he was a decent heavy. Easily handled Holy, should have got the nod against Peters first time around and easily beat Ruiz.

The result of the fight against Nunn was a comprehensive knockout for Toney
Beat everyone and anyone until Jones
Agree with Shantel only self discipline stopped him being a top 20 ATG
Dont judge him on the Toney you see now.
Check him out against Nunn, McCallum,Thornton, Littles .The win against Jirov
Great fighter but no Heavyweight for sure
