Inter sack their manager.... Empty Inter sack their manager....

Post by Adam D Wed Sep 21, 2011 10:14 pm

after only 5 games! Talk about tough gig!

Details from the beeb:

Inter Milan have sacked coach Gian Piero Gasperini after just five matches and three months in charge.

The former Genoa manager, 53, lost four games, taking just a point from Roma, and his side sit 17th in Serie A.

His last match was a disastrous 3-1 defeat on Tuesday by Novara, who were only promoted last season.

Inter also lost 1-0 to Trabzonspor at the San Siro in the Champions League and were beaten by AC Milan in the Italian Super Cup in August.

Gasperini was a replacement for Leonardo, who is now at Paris Saint-Germain.

A statement from Inter read: "Inter announces that today's training session has been carried out by Daniele Bernazzani and Giuseppe Baresi.

"The club wishes to thank Gian Piero Gasperini for the effort shown during his tenure and manifests its true disappointment for the interruption of the relationship with the coach."

That was a pretty god awful start to be fair, and Moratti isn't known for his unswerving loyalty to his coaches.

Makes me wonder who is out there for them now? Ancelotti springs to mind, and I wonder if he'd fancy another crack at a Milan team.

Not normally a fan of sacking managers so early into there tenure, but i am no way shocked and if an early sacking was ever deserved it was here.

In his last 2 games he has played about 10 different formations including 3 by half time last night. They were outplayed by a team playing there first home game in the top division for 55 years.

It was bound to happen soomer or later but he got it all wrong by switching formations to 3-4-3.

I think they're still trying to replace Mourinho, and switching so quickly won't help, but like Nay Bother said if any manager deserved to go so quickly it was him, that is an awful record considering Inter have players like Forlan and Sneijder at their disposal.

Ancelotti is a good shout if he is willing to turn his back on Milan, Mark Hughes anybody? No...? Okay.

Inter continuing to do badly is good news for United fans though as it will only make Sneijder want to leave more.

It was probably the case that they had him tapped up before they pulled the trigger. A good manager, but I do think Ancelotti would have been better.

Must catch up with Serie A and La Liga, although caught an excellent Valencia v Barca match last night!

I doubt Ranieri will last long to be honest.
