Top rank CEO Bob Arum has reacted angrily to the news that Golden boy has announced that it will go ahead with the IBF bantamweight reamatch between Abner Mares and Joseph Agbeko on the same night as the eagerly anticipated rematch between junior middleweight title holder Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito. This is somewhat controversial as the Cotto v Margarito bout had been set for that date for months whereas the Mares v Agbeko bout has recently been announced.

Arum on fine form has stated “Richard Schaefer and Showtime ought to be ashamed of themselves. Nobody has done this in boxing in years. To put up a fight against another promoter’s Pay Per View (PPV) with these two guys that nobody has ever heard of. I don’t think that is going to hurt us, but its still really bad form.

“They ought to be ashamed, particularly Schaefer, because Schaefer who does PPV shows, should know better. So there’s one word I want to leave them with and that’s retaliation. I’m not going to get angry, I’m not going to get bitter at what they did, but man am I going to get even in spades. I’m going to retaliate when he’s the most vulnerable, when he has the most on the line and he is not going to get away with this.”

Big talk from Arum but I think this is a great night for boxing. This fight is not the only thing worrying Arum as there is also a big UFC event ON THE SAME NIGHT. Arum of course has stated that he is not bothered by it but I think there will be more interest in the Mares v Agbeko rematch. Whats you're view guys and what would you prefer to watch.

I really like both after watching Agbeko-Mares 1. Cotto/Margarito should be the more successful though, i said the other day that i was disappointed both fights were taking place on the same night. I'm not watching UFC much at the moment but that would also have been a pain.

Not sure what to expect from the Cotto fight because Marg is done and has been since the Mosley fight. I agree Mares v Agbeko for me. I think Mares will take it.

Yeah i think he may just edge, should be another good fight. Will try and watch one live and download the other one in the morning.

Has a chin and won't stop coming forward like the first whether he can get his shots off again like the first, I'm unsure...
