Help with new phone

Bought a Sony Ericsson XPERIA today firstly i have plugged it in to charge and its not charging for some reason.... yes the plug is switched on 
but also when i try logging into facebook via the app it just says an error occurred during sign in please try again later

Return it and get the new iPhone which is being announced on Oct 4th with a probable release of 21st Oct.

well ive got it charging, now just need to work out how to use the apps etc as they dont want to work
the Iphone would take too much money considering im on a student loan, this phone was cheaper than my current one on contract, tbh it seems now when i get the apps going it will be fine
