What do you base that on? Longevity? Opponents? Weight? Contribution to the sport? Atleast provide a reason why you think so and give a window of opportunity for a solid debate otherwise i think you will soon find that this is no 606 where unnecesary drivel was posted for the sheer fun of it

Tyson got beat by bums. He even lost to one in his prime. No long count nonsense please. Calzaghe never lost to bums.

Tyson lost to a blown up cruiserweight who was suppose to be past his best.

Green Giant,

First up, it's nice to see that you've made the move over.

Secondly, I'd just ask you, with all respect, to consider that this isn't the Beeb, wherein free for alls would break out on every other thread. The administrators have put together a forum in which they allow us plenty of rope, but the bottom line is that they aren't going to tolerate their hard work being compromised by needless spats. Better, I should venture, to take a friendly word from a fellow poster such as myself rather than find yourself the wrong side of the administrators by suggesting someone should ' get out of your thread. '

It's in everyone's best interests that we play nice.

Isn't Green Giant the one who made one of the funniest articles on 606 with Bernard Hopkins antics in prison?

Disagree. Don't want this new forum descending into the stupid slanging matches that spoiled the old one at times.

Not a bit, mate.

I'm just one of the lads as I always was, but we all know that there were times when the old forum descended into a mass punch up and we all felt a bit frustrated that there was no way to stop it. If we regulate things ourselves we can nip things in the bud before it all goes spiralling and IP addresses get banned, etc.

I promise you the last thing I want is to be alienated, and I'd much rather discuss boxing and enjoy banter than get involved in politics.

You don't have to read every single article, if there's one that you are too high and mighty to get involved with then move on. Its quite simple. Its called banter, the very essence of 606 was the occasional descent into nonsense, to have a forum full of uppity people isn't what we want. Obviously personal abuse or what have you isn't acceptable, and I believe that the moderators we have in place will maintain a balance between the serious and the fun, just like it should be.

I think that's it in a nutshell, Union.

Heaven knows I love a bit of tail yanking and banter and I'd be among the last to try to clip anybody's wings.

In a p4p list of all boxers, Calzaghe is higher than Tyson..

-------------------------------

In Britain perhaps, but he wouldnt be ranked higher in any other nation in the world.

With the exception of Hopkins, and I say Hopkins loosely, all of Calzaghe's wins over former/current champions haven't proved much. Eubank was two fights away from retirement and actually lost those two fights - Richie Woodhall was coming back from a loss and then retired after the Calzaghe defeat - Reid was coming back from a loss and then failed to achieve after the Calzaghe defeat, not to forget it was a SD - Byron Mitchell was coming back from a defeat and then failed to achieve afterwards - Lacy was green and failed to achieve after the Calzaghe defeat - Kessler has done OK by beating Froch in a close fight but he was beat up by Andre Ward.

It's hardly a proven track record 8)

Eubanks losses came at cruiserweight for the cruiserweight WBO championship. He even knocked thompson down in their first fight. Past his best maybe but still competing for world titles 4 weightclasses above where he started and two where he had his most success. Woodhall won his fight before calzaghe so did reid and mitchell's "lost" came to sven ottke in a fight that 99% of people beleived Mitchell won. The other 1% being retarded.

Lacy never looked better before Calzaghe so its hard to call him green.

We were talking about Eubanks 2 losses to Carl Thompson after the Calzaghe fight. Hence why i was talking about Criuserweight.

I think its fair to say that Eubank was struggling badly to make SMW limit by that stage in his career.
His next two fights were at CW in which he weighed over 20lbs more than he did when he fought Joe.
Eubank himself claimed that he needed to lose around 10lbs a week prior to fighting Joe.....which must have been gruelling.

Although I actually consider it one of Calzaghe best wins/performances, it still can't be ignored that Eubank was almost certainly weight-drained significantly at the time.
