Here are the words to the National Anthem in English and Welsh

So you can join in for hopefully the first of many good sing songs tomorrow, fingers crossed

Mae Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau

The Land Of My Fathers

Mae hen wlad fy nhadau yn annwyl i mi,
Gwlad beirdd a chantorion, enwogion o fri;
Ei gwrol ryfelwyr, gwladgarwyr tra mâd,
Tros ryddid gollasant eu gwaed.

Chorus

Gwlad, Gwlad, pleidiol wyf i'm gwlad.
Tra môr yn fur i'r bur hoff bau,
O bydded i'r hen iaith barhau.

Verse 2

Hen Gymru fynyddig, paradwys y bardd,
Pob dyffryn, pob clogwyn i'm golwg sydd hardd;
Trwy deimlad gwladgarol, mor swynol yw si
Ei nentydd, afonydd i mi.
Os treisiodd y gelyn fy ngwald tan ei droed,
Mae hen iaith y Cymry mor fyw ac erioed,
Ni luddiwyd yr awen gan erchyll law brad,
Na thelyn berseiniol fy ngwlad.

In English

The land of my fathers, the land of my choice,
The land in which poets and minstrels rejoice;
The land whose stern warriors were true to the core,
While bleeding for freedom of yore.

Wales! Wales! fav'rite land of Wales!
While sea her wall, may naught befall
To mar the old language of Wales.

Old mountainous Cambria, the Eden of bards,
To the ears of her patriots how charming still seems
The music that flows in her streams.
My country tho' crushed by a hostile array,
The language of Cambria lives out to this day;
The muse has eluded the traitors' foul knives,
The harp of my country survives.

Well that's one translation anyway Wink

Gwlad means Nation, Cymru means Wales.

The Old land of my fathers,
is dear to me,
land of poets and singers,
famous men of renown
her brave warriors,
very splendid patriots,
for freedom shed their blood.

Nation!, Nation! I am true to my nation,
While the sea is a wall to the pure most loved land,
O may the old language endure,

We could maybe make it easier:

Mae hen wlad fy nhadau yn annwyl i mi, - My Hen laid an egg for me
Gwlad beirdd a chantorion, enwogion o fri; - glad the chariot imploded on friday
Ei gwrol ryfelwyr, gwladgarwyr tra mâd, -
Tros ryddid gollasant eu gwaed.

Chorus

Gwlad, Gwlad, pleidiol wyf i'm gwlad.
Tra môr yn fur i'r bur hoff bau,
O bydded i'r hen iaith barhau.

Meh you get the idea... Whistle

Actually the song the Scarlets use when they score points:

Sospan Fach by Alistir James is beautiful, I wouldn't day this while sat watching an Ospreys game of course because they'd lynch me.

One of my favorite songs.

Oh wait is this the song the Scarlets use when they score points?
I really wish I could speak Welsh but in truth I really struggled in school with it, German I was fine with for some reason, but Welsh and French were utter fails for me steam

Thanks for the song it is lovely, I will download it Hug

Another great one you used to hear, but not so often now is Calon Lân. It used to be sung before games by the male voice choir. I think we swapped it for Delilah

Nid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus,
Aur y byd na'i berlau mân:
Gofyn wyf am galon hapus,
Calon onest, calon lân.

Calon lân yn llawn daioni,
Tecach yw na'r lili dlos:
Dim ond calon lân all ganu
Canu'r dydd a chanu'r nos.
Pe dymunwn olud bydol,
Hedyn buan ganddo sydd;
Golud calon lân, rinweddol,
Yn dwyn bythol elw fydd.
(Chorus)
Hwyr a bore fy nymuniad
Gwyd i'r nef ar adain cân
Ar i Dduw, er mwyn fy Ngheidwad,
Roddi i mi galon lân.

In English

I don't ask for a luxurious life,
the world's gold or its fine pearls,
I ask for a happy heart,
an honest heart, a pure heart.

A pure heart full of goodness
Is fairer than the pretty lily,
None but a pure heart can sing,
Sing in the day and sing in the night.
If I wished for worldly wealth,
It would swiftly go to seed;
The riches of a virtuous, pure heart
Will bear eternal profit.
(Chorus)
Evening and morning, my wish
Rising to heaven on the wing of song
For God, for the sake of my Saviour,
To give me a pure heart.

Scarlets play Sospan Fach when they score a try and Yma o Hyd when they convert it, usually anyway, but when points are scored it's more typically a blast of Yma o Hyd. Both very good songs.

Sospan Fach is the only song I can sing in Welsh. When I say sing I'm mean try to sing of course.

Weird song

Good luck tomorrow. Glad the game is on later as my in-law is visiting and I'd worry about waking the neighbours.
