Joel Tomkins joins Saracens

Saracens have signed Joel Tomkins from Wigan as part of a joint link up between the clubs . A fee of £250,000 was being mentioned but nothing has been confirmed .

Shame about Joel Tomkins moving to union, but Rugby League will just move on and keep producing good players and unless he returns to Rugby League he will be forgotten and someone else would have taken his place.

Yes it says Sam is now the highest paid player in Superleague

But who will that be because unlike the NRL, the Super League doesn't have that seemingly endless goldmine of players coming through.

The one good thing is Wigan always find another youngster to replace leaving stars .

Don't see him making a major mark in union really he will prob be back playing league in a year or two.

I'll give him a chance. He's obviously a very good Rugby League player, and therefore will have a good set of skills - but it'll take time for him to adapt.

He's a good player, but personally think that there are alot better young players that i would rather not lose than him.
As for the partnership, i can see what Saracens can get out of it, but i can't see what Wigan are gaining.
If the Harlequins partnership didn't really work, when they played at the same ground, and had more use for advertisment etc. Then how it will benefit 2 clubs over 200 miles apart is debatable.

It maybe smoothing the way for Farrell and son return to Wigan ?

I have always thought Andy Farrell would return to Wigan at some stage , this link up could make that a lot easier

Never say never, but i don't think Wigan could afford the wages of the Farrells.

They wouldn't come cheap , but dont think it would be for a couple of years anyway . I can see Andy coming in as next coach after Shane Wane .
