I was in the Boys Brigade as a kid, bit like scouts but with praying and more football. Highlight though was a joint camping trip with the Girl Guides and an older girl called Amanda asked me to share her sleeping bag.

(Bolt of lightning hits the ring and the lights go out)

RJ: "WHAT THE HELL HAS JUST HAPPENED???"

(Lights come back on with a wooden coffin lying in the middle of the ring)

ITS BEEN DONE....

RJ:"Oh no, but who is it is it Trish or Goldust?"

(Diablo and Acer rush to the ring)

Diablo (almost in tears): "You look Acer I cant bear to check"

(Acer looks into the coffin bows his head and recloses the lid and grabs a mic)

Acer: "Ladies and Gentlemen, Its is with deepest sympathy I have to inform you that Goldust is dead"

RJ: "Folks this is a sad day for 6WF, Rest In peace Goldust, Damn you Nemesis!!!"

(Diablo and Acer stand over the coffin and begin to lift it, a smile can be seen on Diablos face, clearly releived it isnt Trish)

*Titantron starts to flicker again*

DONT SMILE TOO MUCH DIABLO....

TRISH WILL BE NEXT.....

Promo standards from back then to today shows a huge difference. When did the difference really start to get this big?

Alright alright..... We didn't have such awesome veterans to learn the ropes from back then Wink

Everything just got gradually better mate. You can't really pinpoint a moment.

Though you can see on those links, my tenure as commissioner was very unstructured and chaotic - when they got rid of me and River Ace stepped in, he added some much needed structure and things started to really fall into place then, and the promos followed suit

I think it got a bit better when there was a sudden influx of new people, the big one was when people like Abe, JJ, Mat, Enforcer, Hobo, TGA and me of course all joined in a space of a couple of months. The older guys clearly felt threatened and upped their game. Wink

Demon, I guess you're right. You only have to look at Next Gen to see the good influences of some people. Look how well Longinus did under Hero, Yarmouth under Jack, and to an extent myself and Dubois worked quite well together.

I suppose if you were given the worst veterans to learn from then you'd be doomed to fail... or end up winning the Hardcore belt Wink
