Indian Wells - Match of the Day Thread : 20th March, 2011 - THE FINAL

Welcome to the Match of the Day Thread ... a place to discuss all the latest matches and the tennis as it happens.

After a bit of a topsy turvy tournament, the cream of the crop rose to the top yesterday with our final four protagonists, resulting in World No. 1 - Rafael Nadal - and the new World No. 2 - Novak Djokovic - as the eventual winners. So tonight, at 8 pm UK time, we can settle down as we let battle commence.

Rafa holds a compounding 16-7 H2H against Novak, but perhaps a more telling stat is that Novak leads Rafa 7-5 on hard courts, BUT he's 0-5 when it comes to finals won. Will the current in-form player find a way through the World's best defender? Who will dare take the initiative and attack?

Lets hope we're in for a great match ... and may the best man win!

Tried the link Haddie but up came a message warning me not to proceed as it could cause a lot of problems(security) etc. with my PC

Using Windows 7 with Microsofts own Security/Virus checker etc. but that should't really be a problem!

How do you guys get on with this particular site?

I didn't get any of the issues you describe, sportslover, but it just listed WTA and to start on 14th March.

I tried fromsports, but that doesn't seem to be broadcasting either. So I've drawn a blank, I'm afraid.

A quick look on Livescores shows that Tispy beat Kamke, Young defeated Storace and Sweeting defeated Granollers.

1-2 in picks for me then.

Hanescu and Seppi is currently 1-1.

A quick check on the scores shows that JMDP came through quite easily with a bagel second set.

Its really difficult to follow this tournie as yet with the time difference and not being able to watch it. Sky only broadcast from tomorrow.

I agree.. I cant even pick it up on Spanish tv at the moment... given that Spain are fielding 10 players I thought they might have started yesterday but hey ho... Hopefully the week-end will prove more fruitful as I cant get Sky sports here. Eurosport seem to be obsessed with women´s tennis.. must be all those short skirts

Hi Laura! No livestreams as far as I know, just following on livescores. Rafa/Marc held from 0-40 at 3-2. There are some great doubles matches today, it's a shame to miss out on seeing them.

I see Chardy is getting battered in the 3rd set by Ryan Harrison - I thought his good result at the DC would have given him some confidence unless Ryan is playing amazing tennis?

Doctor Ivo plays a mean game but unfortunately apart from the F1 serve the rest of his game can be a bit iffy having only won three out of ten matches so far this year.

Ferrer is also one of the best returners of serve on the tour so it won't be easy for him to get his fourth win.

Wow. How quickly things change in tennis. Delpo had break point, then in his service game, Looby played a great point to have one of his own and JMDP nets. And before you know it, Looby has the set.

Having only played one match since the AO before this tournament was sadly evident!

Great result for Young however but really this should have been routine for someone ranked No.5

However there is always the doubles but ......

Dr Ivo (true he played TENNIS and not just a serve) made Ferrer look slow (certainly not an AO SF) ... put my picks in an awful mess but hey ho should make interesting viewing.,., Funny old game
