Sturm v Murray Empty Sturm v Murray

Post by lovely_london Fri 2 Dec - 21:38

Who do you think will win? I am surprised this fight is not getting more coverage to be honest. Murray is unbeaten and Sturm has been the current champion for 5 years so should be a very good fight.

I reckon sturm will KO Murrey in the 8th round.

Sturm has more ability than Murray, but his KO ratio is not the greatest. Really depends if Murray can get up close and take Sturm's shots. In all honesty will be difficult for Murray to get a decision in Germany even if he pulls out a career best performance.

I'm going Sturm, by a wideish UD.

Quite a few pundits seem to be suggesting Murray might pull it off. I'm not so sure. I believe Macklin's better than Murray, and i expect Sturm to win, most probably by a reasonably wide points decision or a late retirement.

Has it started yet? Can't get at the remote. Sturm KO's him late, Murray will be taking too much punishment through-out. Ref stops it around 9-11.

Great round for Murray there.

I disagree with the British judges, though. I've got Sturm winning 5 rounds to 3.

He just looks stronger, even if he only really comes forward in short bursts twice a round.

Murray is throwing punches that wouldn't score in the amateurs. There is nothing behind them.

i got even at this point, I think Murray is doing very well and Jim Watt and the other Sky muppet are giving Sturm far to much credit for punches that are landing on Murrays gloves. I dont think Sturm has landed more than a handful of clean shots in the whole fight so far yet the fools keep talking about the quality of his work. If this fight was in England Murray could well be ahead and looking at taking the title, but seeing as its in Germany Sturm will be 6-8 rounds up.

What an effort from Murray!

Sturm will get the decision by 3 or 4 rounds as it's in Germany. But Murray has put in a great shift.

6-5 Sturm after 11 rounds. A big round here and he should (if it wasn't in Germany) be in with a real chance.

The judges will've probably given Sturm 8 or 9 rounds.

7-5 Sturm, sadly.

Most of the rounds were very close, though.

Even still, the judges will probably give Sturm almost every round.

Sorry Sturm got robbed. He threw the better quality punches and was the better fighter. The guy who scored it for Murray should be banned from judging again,

And Watt should definately be shot. I'll shoot the mofo.

Sturm robbed, feels odd saying that. Murray was throwing arm punches and sturm was landing the heavier and cleaner shots.

I had it for Murray by 1 round but couldn't argue about it being scored a draw, but i would put good money on him winning it well in a rematch after this extra experience.

meant to say 8 rounds to 4, not sure how i left the second part of the sentence out.
every round was close to be fair. but after the macklin fight seemed sky were ready to shout robbery no matter what here. how could anyone not give last round to sturm?

It was a robbery. Sturm got robbed. In the close rounds he landed the cleaner punches and the better shots. I reckon judges had their minds on the Macklin fight.

I had the final round to Murray until the last 20 secs so don't think 10-10 was all that absurd a score. And to call this a 'robbery' of Sturm is a little far fetched in my opinion, a bit like Groves didn't 'rob' DeGale, it was a very close fight so there was always likely to be scoring controversy (especially in Germany).

The German media made a big fuss about how Macklin was robbed although I don't agree with that it was very close. Murray was asked the question several times by the German press so you might be right.

Pretty boy, yes he landed cleaner, but really not for sustained periods, like the macklin fight he is just lazy, as for last round first 2:30 Murray was only one in it, nearly got KO though!

Agree on arm punches, a lot of them carried little weight, but some were decent shots which seemed to hurt, for me neither did enough to win by much, so draw probs fair!

I agree with the last round was Sturm's but for the first half of the fight nearly every punch Sturm threw landed on Murrays gloves while Murray kept landing even if they were not power shots, Murray also landed decent body shots all night and some of them looked like they were bothering Sturm.

No it was a robbery, murray threw shots and hit sturms arms while murray's head was being knocked back with every power shot. Murray couldn't sustain attacks, sturm controlled him and forced the action. It was a close decision but a clear one

Jim Watt's normally poor commentating was deplorable tonight. I scored the last round to Sturm, I thought it was as clear cut a round to score all night, although I only turned it over at the end of the fourth. How Watt scored it an even round is beyond me.

Waiting for the decision, Watt say's the fight will swing on how they score the close rounds. When it finishes a draw, Watt say's he feel's sick. Why? He only scored it by a round to Murray.

Nelson is a clown. Judging a fight over 12 rounds is fine. On the balance of the fight I draw might seem fair but a fight is judged round by round and Sturm won more rounds. Murray did well just to keep it close.

I dont know how you could possibly call such a close fight a robbery and until the last 5 seconds Sturm didnt manage to make the slightest dent in Murray or his defence. I dont think either man ever controlled the fight and the crowd screaming everytime Sturm clubbed Murrays tight guard may have made his offense look more potent than it really was, but when Murray did come forward Sturm looked very uncomfortable i think if a rematch is signed Sturm will lose his title.
