Movie trailers thread
Considering the amount of trailers being released at the moment there could be a thread started for all trailers rather than have threads on each film.
The Hobbit:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGM1RB73Zso
The Wrath Of The Titans:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xs7fzOrUopc
Ghost Rider 2:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJv2Wno1cA4&feature=relmfu
The Expendables 2:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=db2sD4P_Ieg&feature=relmfu
Men In Black 3:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oj_QQSknwuk
Mission Impossible 4: Ghost Proticol:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zl6vmRNAUsE
So any trailers you want to add feel free or discuss trailers already on this thread, I left some off because they are already on the forum.

Re: Movie trailers thread
apparantly they are bringing out a new Bourne film, splitting away from Damon and introducing a new character.
There may be origional films coming out but obviously its the sequels etc that gather attention because people know the origional films. I don't know about other people but I didn't know about Inception until a week or 2 before its release, now it's one of my favourite films.

I actually feel underwhelmed by the Dark Knight Rises. Not sure how they are going to pull Bane off. Deathstroke for me should have been the last villan with Catwoman. Yes the Dark Knight was a tall order to follow, but keeping in theme with the 'morbid' feel to the Batman trilogy, I think Deathstroke is far easier fit into that theme than Bane.

Would you have said the same for the Godfather Part 2, Aliens, Empire Strikes Back, Dawn of the Dead, The Dark Knight, Wrath of Khan, Terminator 2, Mad max 2, Evil Dead 2, Silence of the lambs etc?
Re: Movie trailers thread
Ridiculously excited for The Hobbit. This first trailer makes it look brilliant already, can't believe it's going to be a whole years wait for it though!

I think Bane was the right choice tbh, in the other 2 films Batman has been tested differently. This time its the turn of physicality as well as intelligence Bane brings. Yes I know deathstroke also has this but Bane has appeared in movies before (despite being poorly done) so people know where the character is from so to say. If Deathstroke was used you may not have had so many people as interested in the film.
For the Dark Knight Rises it appears Bane retains his intelligence from the comics while there is an element of realism in how big he will appear, as Nolan likes realism in his Batman films having some freak giant with huge muscles was never the way he would go. I just find it a shame Heath Ledger for the obvious reasons but also because I feel the Joker was due to return in The Dark Knight Rises, if they are following Knightfall even roughly I think they were going to use the trial of the Joker in the film and have him escape. Along the lines of the escape of Arkham in the comics.

With Deathstroke though he could have easily be traced back to Batman Begins when Wayne was training with Al Ghul and his rank within the League of Shadows.
I just think with Bane by not capturing the physical essence kinda detracts from how the character comes over. Deathstroke wasn't physically dominering as Bane. It would be so easy to cast for the role without physically demanding as much as you would with Bane.

Re: Movie trailers thread
Bane has links to the league of shadows as well though, so still just as easy. Bane isn't just muscle though, and like i said Nolan wants realism so a massive Bane wouldn't make sense. I still think we will see a very physical Bane going by my theory for the film.

Even worse that it will be another year for the second part! Does anyone have any idea or knowledge about where they will be stopping the first film?rugbydreamer wrote:Ridiculously excited for The Hobbit. Hmmm here's what I think about The Hobbit films Derbyblue (and I'm spoilering it so those who don't know the story and don't want anything given away - don't read it!)
- Spoiler:
- I reckong it will end when they are at the House of Beorn, either just as they get there or more likely when they are leaving and are about to enter Mirkwood. To me that can really be the only place to split it. We'll have had the intro, them getting to Rivendell then all the antics in the Misty Mountains and the rescue by the eagles - that's a load of action right there! Then after Mirkwood there's still loads to cover. Knowing me I'll be completely wrong though!

Re: Movie trailers thread
The 2 Hobbit films; so I've heard anyway; will be the whole book for the first film, then a second story based on the years between the end of the book and the start of LOTR ie. the White council, the Necromancer at Dol Guldur and a few of Aragorns adventure with Gandalf.
But these are just rumours afterall, so they may be total BS

I have also heard this and believe it to be true, apparently the actor who plays Aragorn was really eager to reprise his role again when he heard about the Hobbit and as Aragorn isn't in the Hobbit I think Peter Jackson or whoever the original director was decided to create a bridging film in order to include him. I think its a good idea, I like the character Aragorn and am intrigued by his 'ranger' days.
Personally though I have abit of a rant about the Hobbit trailer. Now I read the Hobbit a couple of years ago and quite enjoyed it so I'm happy they're making a film and believe it will be very good. But their attempt to create an air of threat and tension in the trailer completely fails because it is a prequel and everyone knows Bilbo doesn't die!!!

Re: Movie trailers thread
I would be amazed if that were true. Anything is possible though I seriously hope its not the case. The basis of the films being good is that the storys are good, the Hobbit is a wonderfu, charming l little book. In retrospect having read all the Tolkein books many times Id have to say its probably his best work.
It should be one film and that should really be the end of the Tolkein film franchise. All the other books and stories are simply not that great or just too geeky.

Re: Movie trailers thread
I don't mind if they split the book into two films, just because there is so much detail in there, I don't want it to be rushed/bits missed out. Doing it over two films means it can really be done properly.
Haven't heard any rumours of a 'filler' film myself, but wouldn't think the Tolkien estate would agree to it. Unless that's the reason for all of the delays??

Re: Movie trailers thread
Doing it over two films means that it will take twice the money, which is I think the key reason. The Hobbit isn't a big book, far from it, you can read it in an afternoon. Would be nice for once to go to the flicks and see a start and a middle and an ending to a story rather than waiting another year to see how something ends. Especially as there should be kids who are a lot younger going to see the film than saw the LOTR films.

Re: Movie trailers thread
I thought Peter Jackson did a good job of fitting each book in the LOTR trilogy into one film each so see no reason why they would need to create the Hobbit over two films? But I could be wrong, it may be a trend at the moment.

Re: Movie trailers thread
He did do a good job of the LotR films, but he also missed out a hell of a lot. I hope they put everything from The Hobbit it now, they've no excuse to leave anything out if they've got 2 films to do it in.
I think there will be a lot of added on stuff in the films though, I mean, Galadriel and Legolas are going to be in them for starters!

Re: Movie trailers thread
You always miss a lot out from a book to film, detail that works in a book can just cause a film to fell static and over detailed. And of course descriptive narrative (which Tolkein loves) is simply visible to us on the screen.
But at the end of the day we are talking about 10's of million of dollars of revenue. Sadly that will be the driving force rather than any creative reasons.

This site / promo was doing the rounds last week, in case you haven't seen yet.
http://www.omnicorp.com/
It seems that the rebooted ED-209 hasn't changed much in design terms (and I'd hazard a guess that he will still come across as a grumpy, homicidal maniac).

Re: Movie trailers thread
I'm not sure to be honest. Nobody seems to get excited about James Bond since Quantam of Solace (which a few felt let down by). I wonder how far they'll be going with the up to date franchise which I am a fan of. Now I look back on the old ones they're really cheesey (still classics though).
I'm still a bit disapointed they are remaking RoboCop. I read some articles on the idea after you pointed it out to me Skydriver; from what I have read I do not think they can pull it off.

Anyone keen on V/H/S? Apparently it's scary. One of those found footage type movies with multiple directors contributing a story each.
