Obviously your Lineup should include 11 players and 7 Subs.

Make sure you check your weeks Injuries as if any injured players are part of the starting 11 this will affect your team and effectively they will be starting with 10 players.

There are no restrictions on tactics but please try not to make them too long as we’d like to take into consideration managers have a minimum of four sets to read through on voting days.

Anyone who consistently Copy and Pastes tactics every week may find their teams results take a nose dive.

General:

Lloris - Command your area. Instruct your defenders, they are there to protect you and you can see the whole field of play. Come from crosses which are in or close to your 6 yard box, anything else leave for defenders. Try your best not to punch and catch what you can, if you do punch get a good connection. Stay big for one on ones.

Defence - Get tackles in. Make interceptions, dont take big risk with this as if you dont make it you are leaving Lloris open. Challange for headers. Try your best to avoid cards. Stay organised and stay tight, we dont want to make this hard for ourselves.

Barzagli & Astori - Look after each other. Communicate with each other and those around you. Barzagli man mark the striker or if two both of you man mark. Challange for every ball in the air, use your strength. Try force striker out wide and onto weaker foot. Do your best to keep them at distance limiting their shooting. Keep it tight Huddlestone & Biglia can cover if you are taken out of position by the striker.

Astori - If two strikers man mark the secondary striker and stick to usual defensive duties outlines above. I am however expecting Suarez to be a lone striker so man mark him. Stay on him and do you best to keep his back towards goal. Do your best to do all the above in terms of tackling etc. Try push the striker out wide or push him onto his weaker foot. Barzagli will either be marking the other striker or covering if there isnt one. On last Season Arsenal like to use wingers and dont really have a headerer of the ball in the box which can be good for us.

Barzagli - If there is two strikers you will mark the target man out of the two and stick to usual defensive duties outlines above. However Im expecting one strkier, just Suarez, you will act as a sweeper, your experience & ability to read the match will help your positioning when for acting as a sweetper. As above do your best to get tacles in etc. Watch out for an AM making runs.

Bosingwa & Cissokho - Important roles for your two today. Arsenal have good wingers so first and foremost I want you to focus on defending against them. Expected to be Hazard & Remy as Cole is injured & Oxlade not quite ready yet. Hazard & Remy have some pace so the important thing is to stay goal side at all times. They both are not conventional wingers, they will like to drift inside and link up with play. Arsenals lack of aerial threat in the box means they should be coming inside a lot. I want both of you to really focus on keeping them out as wide as possible, I will instruct our Dm's to assist at times. This will cut off a supply line to Suarez. The are both tricky wingers so stay on your feet and dont go to ground, last thing we want to do is give them space to operate. When marking them keep it moderately tight, not too tight to get turned but tight enough to get a foot in quickly and stop them turning, starting a dribble.
Attacking I dont want you going past the half way line in the 1st half, you may push up to the halfway line to support midfielders. Always stay goalside of the Arsenal wingers. In the second half start to creep up the field a bit more as time progresses. You should have bags of energy reserved from the first half so unless we are losing (dont then), draw or winning I want you to start pushing up more supporting the midfield allowing the to push further forward, get crosses in the box from in and around the box, feed the midfield players in behind the backline. This should help pin the Arsenal wingers back.

Huddlestone & Biglia – Control the direction of play today, spread the ball around the pitch moving it forward, keep the ball moving even if its a 4 yard pass to each other as this allows our players to keep their movement up and try find room, when they have play the ball to them. Get stuck in and dictate the pace of the game, slow it down when needed and make a quick break when possible. In general a slower paced game forceing Arsenal to chase the ball will not suit them and fustrate them. We must control this in order to go for the win.

Huddlestone - Want you to be the engine room today. Get around the pitch. If there is a AM then keep an eye on him, zonally mark, if there is one striker then Barzagli can pick up the AM when he gets into an advance position. Im expecting Modric to be playing as Ganso has been sold, if so do what you can to keep him quiet, block shots and keep him at a good distance from goal, close him down quick to sotp him distributing and creating with ball. If two strikers, then you must stick with the midfielder who attacks more. At all times protect the back four. Go for headers, get tackles in, own the pitch, make it yours! Use your big physique to make a commanding presence on the field. If you find yourself in a long range shooting distance with a shot on have a pop.
1st half sit infront of the back fro and protect, when winning the ball I want you to drive it forward and get it to the advanced midfield men. 2nd hlaf play more box to box and give us that drive that tired Arsenal leg wont be able to deal with. Also be aware you may need to cover Bosingwa at times.

Biglia - Excellent ability to read the game and frequently in the right place to receive the ball from team-mates so I want to use this and build around you. Sit infront of the back four, protect them and follow all responsibilities detailed above. As you can always be on for a pass your other best attribute really comes into play here and is where we can pick Arsenal apart, by using your excellent short and long passing ability. Use this to distribute the ball to the front men, the fact you can pick a pass means we can hit Arsenal fast on the counter. So 1st half we will play counter attack when needed to and a steady build up play with movement up top should open gaps and allow you to execute the "killer" ball. 2nd half draw or winning we will take push on with more direct play.

Frei, Jovetic & Bastos - Want you guys to really trouble the Arsenal midfield/defence. Help out with defensive responsibilities, tackling, interceptions etc. The best thing here is all three of you can play out wide and have the ability to link up inside the field too. This interchangability will allow us to have a lot of movement which can open gaps. Biglia will be using his passing ability to pick out you guys. 1st half stay more structured, keep your shape. If Arsenal fullbacks attack, Frei & Bastos will need to track back.
1srt half:
Jovetic stay central and support Demba Cisse. Make you runs forward, play off him. Shoot from edge of the box, work the keeper, and shoot on sight in the box.
Frei & Bastos can drift wide down the flanks, one at a time though so we dont leave Jovetic too open in the middle. Get crosses in, try pick Demba Cisse or Jovetic out or man at the back post, whichever of you isnt out wide attack back post.

2nd half:
If draw or winning all three play with more freedom. Drift around interchanging. Shhot from destance. Play throughballs for one and other and Demba Cisse. keep fouse on the above tactics too, justy with more flexability.

Demba Cisse - Out and out striker today. Play off the shoulder. Put some pressure on oppositions CB’s to force errors. Make forward runs and look for through balls. Also always follow up any shots on goal in case of spills. Jovetic is supporting so he will feed you through and play off you. Work on linking up with him and breaking down the Arsaenal back line with quick passes. Shoot on sight inside the box. Its ESSENTIAL you use your physical strength to bully the Arsenal CB who is marking you.

DEFENSE:-

Akinfeev in goal will use his experience to lead the defense. He is confident in the air and will come out for most high balls. What he cant catch he will look to get a good strong punch out. Will look to release wide men early and set up quick counters from the back.
Alba and Srna are both attacking fullbacks, when going forward one at a time, they will support the wingers as much as they can. Pass and move outside taking their fullbacks away opening up space for Walcott and Sidney to try and exploit. Once they have passed then they can keep moving forward into dangerous positions. Defending they will stand tall and be strong against the wingers, keeping them to the outside. Dont dive in or do anything silly and keep them to the outside.
Rami will man mark the CF, stop him from turning in on goal and keep him quei. Be on his toes so he is quick to intercept anything the CF does and limit the amount of chances he gets.
Matip is a big strong lad and will look to use his height to clear any high ball that comes his way. Will sit spare and keep an eye on any movement from their midfielders coming through. He will also go up for corners and use his height in their box.

MIDFIELD:-
M'Vila is the main DM, his job is simple, keep there most attacking midfielder quiet. Get on to him quickly not allowing him to dictate play, if he can to this and limit the amount of through balls to the CF then this will nulify alot of attacks.
Vidal beside him is box to box and a very hard working player. He will sit alongside M'Vila and help break up play, when there 2nd midfielder moves forward he will be there to stop him getting any further. When he attacks he will pass and move forward into areas just outside the box for anything coming out for him to pounce.
Walcott and Sidney Sam will use there pace to try and get beyond the fullbacks. They will at times be supported by there fullbacks as they look to pass and move, play neat triangles with Illicic and Srna/Alba to get in beyond the line of defense to either get the ball into the box or drive in themselves. Defending I want them to follow the Villareal fullbacks as they move forward and stop them in their tracks, breathing down their necks to stop them getting too far forward.
Ilicic is the playmaker, he passes about to wings and CF to try and break them down, he has a vast array of passes and can split the CB's open very quickly, he will drop deep to pick up the ball from Mvila and Vidal and try and get others into positions of danger. Vidal will drive past him looking for a return also as he moves forward. He is pivotal and will see alot of theball, its upto him to pick the right pass to set up others. Either out wide or through to the forward.

ATTACK:-

Gomis is a good threat up front, hje is a typical poacher who will be in the right place at the right time, he also brings others into the game so if a shot is not on he will try and set others up in a better position. Two footed and strong in the air will be looking for crosses from all angles. He must move around and not be allowed to be picked up by any one in particular and create space for others.

Tactics

Friedel is experienced and will bring a calmness to our defense. He will make decisions whether to come out or punch or catch. Excellent shot stopper and will keep the defense organised at all times.

Anyukov will be solid at the back and keep close to their winger. Foul him if necessary near the half-way line to stop him running at our fullbacks and exposing our defense on their counters. Will out jump him on the long balls played up field by liverpool. Attacking-wise, Anyukov is a threat and he will support our winger in the game.

Monreal same as Anyukov for defending. Stay tight on their winger and dont be out-paced by him. Tackle him in early on and try to force him as wide as possible and dont let him cut inside at all and try to link up with their midfielders. Will go forward in support when we attack.

One fullback will go forward at a time for attacks.

Zapata will mark the CF. Stay close and tight on him and follow his runs. Track him but dont go too far from goal and leave space behind for their wingers to run into. Be physical and winning the long balls is A MUST.

Marchena will be more of a sweeper and will stay sharp and clear the second balls in and around the area. keep an eye on their midfielders running into the box and the wingers cutting inside. Will communicate with his CB partner and LB and knows their game as well as all three are Spanish.

Motta will be our DM today. He will stay back and will not venture into our attacking third. Will be very mobile and use his physical presence and immense stamina and keep closing down their players all day long. Keep your eyes open for their most advanced attacking midfielder and close him down as soon as he gets the ball. He will also cover for the fullbacks when they go forward and if we lose the ball and are open to a counter. Get some meaty tackles in early on if possible.

Arteta will be in central midfield and will keep things ticking for us. He will win the ball with Motta and Matias and will pass it along, short, and keep things simple. use his passing range. Help out in defense and also go forward and hang around the edge of their area when we are attacking to smash any loose balls that drop around. Look for the runs amde by the forwards and wingers especially and pick em out.

Matias Fernandez will be the main attacking force from our midfield. He will pick up the ball and find the wingers and the striker and will link up with the striker as well. Will not leave the striker get isolated at all during the match. Thread thru balls for Soldado and the wingers and join in the box at times. Shoot at sight and also move forward sometimes and play just behind the striker at times just to confuse their defenders. Will not stand idle or be static at any point in the game.

Kuyt has an immense engine and will track back and his defensive duties which he always does and will not disappoint his manager. He will also put the ball in as early as possible for Soldado. Cut inside and find the midfielders and also shoot whenever possible. Get in the box when we are attacking from the other flank and use his striker instincts to nick a goal. Will run around and close em down from the front.

Giovinco is tricky little player. He will run at pace at their fullback and will play as wide as possible and stretch the play. make room for our midfielders to run into. pick out Soldado with crosses and Kuyt's late runs at back stick. Shoot and try to confuse their FB with your quick feet. Dont show boat a lot and get an early pass forward if you see a good run. Dont let their defender pick your moves early and dont be predictive. Change flanks with Kuyt if you find the FB very hard to run or if he's having a good time in keeping you quiet. track back also which is most important. Run into the center for Soldado's flick ons and get on the second balls.

Soldado the lone man up front. He scored 5 goals for us last time around and we are looking for nearly double that tally this season. He will get plenty of support and balls in from the wingers and the midfielders. Try to get his head on the end of the crosses, long balls and make flick ons for the wingers and Fernandez to run onto. Will be physical and not be out-muscled or out-paced by their CBs. Hold the ball as much as possible and make use of your first-touch, it should not let the team down.

Team Talk

New Season, New league this year, we finished last season strong qualified for Europe, Im for looking you to continue this form going into the new season.

General tactics

We are going to squeeze the game this week, press high and hunt in packs, we are playing fast counter attack football keeping the ball on the ground and playing through Benfica

Individual Tactics

Mcgregor - Work closely with your defence to keep the 18 yard a safe haven, Communicate and concentrate for the full 90 mins, claim crosses within 10 yards of goal line.

Walker - do not dive in and allow him the opportunity to cross, make sure you close the winger down down and force him onto right foot, were he will have to play the ball inside.

Matheu - Keep a tight line with defence and do not allow space behind you, as with debuchy show the winger onto bad foot and force the play to come back into the midfield The midfield is packed and with our pressing game they will have no time to play the passes they need to attack effectivly

Sakho & skrtel - Sakho you are our captain and defensive leader, make sure defense keeps tight line, if they play 1 striker you will sweep but if they do play two strikers mark the second striker, skrtel you have to mark the main striker. make sure that the striker/s are alway under pressure and have to play the ball back into the crowded midfield, stay goal side and do not get turned

Diarra - If they play a midfielder in the hole you have to man mark, make sure he is never available for a pass, this leaves the striker isolated and means that the service he receves is innefectual. if they Do not have a player in the hole, sit and protect the back four

Sandro - you will play as the defensive midfielder of the two in the centre, only break when you dispose the midfielder through our pressing game, and the the quick attack is on, when is pssesion p;lay passing game to spring wingers

Danny - I need you to be more disciplined today pressing and harrowing in midfield but when we are in attack you can go, play a passing game to spring wingers, shot when the opportunity arises

Menez - you will look to make inside to out runs, they defence will not be able to cope with them and it will create the space behind for you to get in, creating goalscoring opportunites for you and thh chance to set up team mates, always make back post run when Gaitan is crossing.

Gaitan - you will use outside to inside runs using that pace to beat the man on the outside and leaving you all the space in the world to break into, as the cb comes to close you down play the early low crosses for defoe and menez defenders hate these, Danny breaking late for rebounds and cut backs make, when the cb doesn't come tower down on goal using clinical nature to score. make back post run when menez has the ball.

Defoe - You will hold up ball and drop it out to wingers and Danny, turning for quick ball over the top for wingers we will be playing lots of crosses today so make sure you are in the box sniffing out chances, when making runs avoid back post runs looking to favour the centre front post just getting in front of attacker and nicking touch

It's a league opener today we've moved league so it time to show we're going to dominate this league like we did Viva's league, Lyon were one of the better sides last year so be aware of the threat they possess especially with their new signings.

General Tactics
Keep the pressure on their midfield and play at a high tempo

I want you to be aware of the ball in behind the defence so always come to claim that , at corners come off the line and claim the ball, When their through one on one stay up aslogn as possible

Sagna :
Today is about using the explosive pace in our side has so i want you to go forward overlapping the wingers and putting the ball on the penalty spot for Suarez or Modric coming through the middle.

Vermaelen + Alves

I want you to play a Deep line today as they have pace throughout the side,you will be backed up by Toulalan in case they do get in behind us. Always go to the man as their expected to have 1 up front and Toulalan will fill the gap, this will help pressure in the midfield as their have to boot it up field where the keeper will claim it and start our attacks

Maduro: As i said to Bacary i want you to overlap the wingers due to their pace so to keep them not sure where their going occasionally cut inside the full back so Hazard can go outside him.

Toulalan + Song
Alex will play as the ball spreader so you will sit in midfield finding little pockets of space in between the midfield and lay it out wide or into gourcuff, I want to see you occasionally go past Modric so he has a 4th option to keep their defence on their toes. Jeremy i want you to sit in front of the Defence so you make a 3rd CB defence won't be pushing high up the field, If Vermaelen or Alves are out of place fill the gap, your midfield duty will be just to break up plays and hunt down players to force them into mistakes.

Remy + Hazard
I want you both to take on the full backs with your pace and trickery , 1st time balls into the box should help Suarez get on the end of them as he should be able to out sprint the defence, If the box is packed take on the full back go past him and square it back to the centre spot as we lack an ariel threat. always look out for the full backs coming past you on the outside, if they go outside it gives you a chance to cut inside and play a intricate pass through the defence for a on rushing Suarez or Modric , always track back with their full back if they go forwards otherwise pressure the midfield

Today i want you to drift inbetween their defence and midfield so it creates a gap for a late running Song, If they decide not to pick you up then i want you to play balls in behind the defence for the wingers to run onto, Suarez will also run if behind but if he takes the defence with him have a go from 20 yards, If they have the possesion always fill into midfield and stop them from playing.

Today your going to play the poacher role where you make the runs in behind to create space for others but always get in position to finish it, I want you to drop into midfield on occasions to pull the defence out of place so Modric can run though.if they don't come with you take them on with trickery,

You may be reigning league and cup champions, but that’s last season. That’s gone. You’ve got a new manager to impress, so I want to see why you won the league and cup double last season. This is going to be a tough match. PSG are going to try and stifle the game today. But that shows you that they fear you. And too bloody right too. This is a new era for Benfica FC, and we’ve got one hell of a reputation to live up to. So let’s start living up to it here today. Heads up.

Specifics

Mika, Luisão, Dedé – I want to see Luisao and Dede protect Mika today. He’s a young lad and he’s been thrown in the deep end here. He wouldn’t be in this squad if he wasn’t good enough – but let’s not take chances hey? Let’s get the lad a clean sheet. No backing off – I want pressure. No easy shots in and around the area. And I want everything won in the air. They’ve only got Defoe up front, so he wins anything you want shooting. Don't go to ground easy, Defoe can get it out of his feet better than anyone. So stick to him and give him no cheap shots.

Costa, Emerson – I don’t want to see you in the opposition third today. Get forward to halfway, offer an outlet to the midfield, and keep the ball. But PSG will be looking for the counter, and are set up defensively strong. We’re going to have to pass our way around them today – and we’ve got the quality to do it. Defence first.

Garcia, Hernanes – Keep the ball and look for the pass. PSG are going to be sitting deep, so let them come out at you. There’s no rush. They’ll be looking for the counter attack, but we can starve Defoe of any service today. Pressure straight away, as soon as they get the ball. I want Hernanes attacking the edge of the box for every single cross ready for a ricochet or half clearance. It could come down to a half-chance today.

Cesar, Reyes – I want to see width. Make space for Garcia and Hernanes. Time your runs. Reyes, you’ve been picked because Kyle Walker is going to be looking for the overlap all day long. Use your experience to get back whenever you can, and cover Emerson. If he’s getting away from you, don’t be shy of a little kick.

Nilmar, Kleber – PSG are going to be getting back quick, and in numbers. Shoot on sight because opportunities are going to be few and far between.

No subs unless injuries. This is the first game of the season – you should all be at full fitness, and you’re all playing for places. We are going to be playing a patient game with the ball, particularly in midfield – and I don’t want to see much overlapping. When we’ve got the ball, use it to rest, then find the spaces in behind. It’s going to be tough with their chunky midfield, but we might only need create one chance for Nilmar or Kleber.

Tactics:-

Away to PSG so a tough game, I want the team to try and keep the ball on the ground and use the width of the pitch to really get at their defense. We have lots of pace so lets use it to our advantage. Pass and move one touch football to break the lines of defense.......

Goalkeeper:-
Akinfeev - A good shot stopper and gives confidence to the back 4. He will dominate the area and close down any forward to reduce the angle he has got to shoot at. Come for the high balls, catch what he can or get a strong punch and clear the danger. Look for the wide men to release early and set up quick counters.

Right Back:-
Srna - Has a wealth of experience on the big stage, he knows when to drive forward and when to stay back and defend the lines. Getting forward he will support Walcott as much as he can, both are quick so will be a huge threat to their left back. Give the ball to Walcott and move inside to make himself available for the return as Walcott drives on, or go to the outside allowing Walcott to cut in. When defendin he has to stay tall and keep the winger quiet, dont allow him to cut inside and dont dive in. Keep him to the outside and away from danger.

Left Back:-
Alba - Much the same tactics as Srna. Supporting Perotti when he can, driving down the outside to make that extra man for their right back to worry about. Look to create the space for himself and Perotti to exploit and get the ball into the box. Defending, again stay tall and dont dive in or do anything reckless. Keep the winger to the outside.

Both fullbacks are quick so getting up and down the pitch wont be a problem, I do stress tho, only one fullback attacks at a time, we cant afford to leave the defense exposed!!

Centre Back:-
Rami - The leader at the back, he is very vocal and keeps the defense a tight unit. He will be sitting spare and will watch for any midfielder coming through or any dangerous ball through for the striker, he will look to intercept before it becomes too dangerous. Head every high ball clear, no nonsense from Rami. If any defender is struggling then double up at times to make sure the threat is limited. Rami will go up for corners and use his height as a weapon..

Centre Back:-
Ruiz - He is the man marker, sticking close to the striker and not allowing him to turn in on goal, he must stay strong and put pressure on the striker early to stop him shooting or indeed setting up others to have a go at goal.

Rami, Ruiz & Alba have a strong understanding all being former Valencia defenders so will know each others game very well

Defensive Midfield:-

M'Vila - Made captain today in the absence of Vidal, he will sit just in front of the CB's and stop the SS/AM dictating play. He must close the lad down very early and pressurize him into making mistakes and making loose passes, the lad will panic as M'Vila breathes down his neck. M'Vila wont go very far up the pitch, his main job is to make sure the the player he is marking doesnt get into the game and nulify any danger he threatens.

Centre Midfield:-
Marchisio - He is an energetic fella and will be up and down the pitch for the whole game. When defending he will sit alongside M'Vila and defend the lines, helping break up play and getting into the face of the 2nd most AM. Attacking, he will look to be the driving force in midfield, passing and moving forward to support the central figures up front, making late runs into the box or sitting just outside waiting for anything that is cleared, he is huge goal threat and can shoot from range which he will be encouraged to do.

Attacking Midfield:-
Ilicic - He sits in a free role, allowing him the freedom of the pitch, he often comes back to pick up the ball to allow himself more room to get the passes out wide or through to Kerzhakov. He has a vast array of passes and will look to set Walcott, Perotti, Kerzhakov free and into space. He will try and keep it simple but effective and use a number of passes out wide or through. Once the pass is made he will always make himself available for the return as he will act as a pivot for the wingers/fullbacks to use as they get forward. He will be a danger from crosses as he stands at 6'3 so willwin alot of headers in the box. He will get back and join Marchisio and M'Vila defending to make a secure midfield 5 for them to try and break down..

Left Wing:-
Perotti - A tricky player and will look to use his skill and pace to get beyond the right back, he will have Alba for support and will use him effectively, either by Alba going passed him to allow him to cut inside for the return or vice versa as Perotti goes to the bye line to get the cross in. He will also look to Ilicic to pass to as he sprints at the defense to try and get into space to have a go at goal. Defending, he will sit in and stop the right back getting forward, stay close to him and stop any threat he posses.

Right Wing:-
Walcott - A speed demon, he has great pace and will use this to great effect as he goes up against their left back, Srna who is no slouch will be threre to support him any way he can by making himself available inside to allow Walcott to get beyond the defense using his pace to get away from his marker, looking for a return pass from Ilicic or Srna to get himself in on goal. He also likes to have a go himself and knock it forward to out run the defender and get himself into acres of space to be in on goal or pick out a cross. Again, defending get back and watch the left back.

Centre Forward:-
Kerzhakov - Our new No.9, he is a predator as his record shows, a great goal scorer wiith both feet and head. Always in the right place at the right time when the ball comes his way. Will get plenty opportunities as he will get support form those behind. So he must take these chances. If he is in an area that he cant go for goal then he will look to either get into spaces, drag his marker away allowing others to move into the space he has created for them to have a go or set others up with knock downs or flicks to break the lines of defense. He doesnt have to defend but when they have it I want him to always be on the move waiting for the ball coming forward again so he is ready to pounce.

Tactics

Sanchez is experienced and will bring a calmness to our defense. He will make decisions whether to come out or punch or catch. Excellent shot stopper and will keep the defense organised at all times.

Anyukov will be solid at the back and keep close to their winger. Foul him if necessary near the half-way line to stop him running at our fullbacks and exposing our defense on their counters. Will out jump him on the long balls played up field by liverpool. Attacking-wise, Anyukov is a threat and he will support our winger in the game.

Monreal same as Anyukov for defending. Stay tight on their winger and dont be out-paced by him. Tackle him in early on and try to force him as wide as possible and dont let him cut inside at all and try to link up with their midfielders. Will not go forward in attack at all.

Musacchio will mark the CF. Stay close and tight on him and follow his runs. Track him but dont go too far from goal and leave space behind for their wingers to run into. Be physical and winning the long balls is A MUST. If the striker wants you to follow him on purpose and drops deep to get the ball dont follow him and leave him to the midfielders to pick him up. Just mark your position and dont leave gaps by going after him.

Marchena will be more of a sweeper and will stay sharp and clear the second balls in and around the area. keep an eye on their midfielders running into the box and the wingers cutting inside. Will communicate with his CB partner and LB and knows their game as well as all three are Spanish. Keep on your toes and keep an eye on your side of wings and the winger cutting inside.

Motta will be our DM today. He will stay back and will not venture into our attacking third. Will be very mobile and use his physical presence and immense stamina and keep closing down their players all day long. Keep your eyes open for their most advanced attacking midfielder and close him down as soon as he gets the ball. He will also cover for the fullbacks when they go forward and if we lose the ball and are open to a counter.

Pirlo will be a deep-lying playmaker today and will keep things ticking for us. He will win the ball with Motta and Matias and will pass it along, short, and keep things simple. use his passing range. Help out in defense and also go forward and hang around the edge of their area when we are attacking to smash any loose balls that drop around. Look for the runs made by the forwards and wingers especially and pick em out. Play long balls over their defence and use your passing ability and intelligence to the max. He already has a goal for us and will also use his long-range shooting in this game.

Matias Fernandez will be the main attacking force from our midfield. He will pick up the ball and find the wingers and the striker and will link up with the striker as well. Will not leave the striker get isolated at all during the match. Thread thru balls for Soldado and the wingers and join in the box at times. Shoot at sight and also move forward sometimes and play just behind the striker at times just to confuse their defenders. Will not stand idle or be static at any point in the game.

Main thing today is to dominate the central midfield area and just keep possession of the football.

Kuyt has an immense engine and will track back and his defensive duties which he always does and will not disappoint his manager. He will also put the ball in as early as possible for Soldado. Cut inside and find the midfielders and also shoot whenever possible. Get in the box when we are attacking from the other flank and use his striker instincts to nick a goal. Will run around and close em down from the front.

Giovinco is tricky little player. He will run at pace at their fullback and will play as wide as possible and stretch the play. make room for our midfielders to run into. pick out Soldado with crosses and Kuyt's late runs at back stick. Shoot and try to confuse their FB with your quick feet. Dont let their defender pick your moves early and dont be predictive. Change flanks with Kuyt if you find the FB very hard to run or if he's having a good time in keeping you quiet. track back also which is most important. Run into the center for Soldado's flick ons and get on the second balls.

Soldado the lone man up front. He will get plenty of support and balls in from the wingers and the midfielders. Try to get his head on the end of the crosses, long balls and make flick ons for the wingers and Fernandez to run onto. Will be physical and not be out-muscled or out-paced by their CBs. Hold the ball as much as possible and make use of your first-touch, it should not let the team down. Run the channels and take the CB with you and create space for Giovinco and midfielders coming into their attacking third.

We need to bounce back from our defeat in the Champions Cup in midweek. You let the fans down. We were criticised for lacking firepower up front, but that’s bullcrap and you know it. So let’s go out there in an attacking formation, and lets attack Lyon and show the nay sayers just how potent we are.

Specifics

Danilo, Luisao, Emerson – You need to keep it tight at the back. The wingers are going to get back and fore to offer support defending the flanks today. Our hand has been forced with a lack of options at centre back – but we can turn this to our advantage if you three stay tight and allow the rest of the team to flow freely. If you’re short of options, don’t be scared to hoof it in Helguson’s direction – he’ll do the rest.

Artur – I want quick distribution today. We’re going to be looking to flood the opposition half with our midfield – so I don’t want to see the ball in your hands for more than 3 seconds. Just get the attack going.

Krasic, Willian – You need to play your part in an attacking formation today, delivering plenty of quality balls for Helguson and Nilmar. You should have plenty of width to play with, so make sure you are out there – making use of it.

Garcia, Melo – You’re on defensive midfield duty, but don’t sit too deep. Keep a high line and pressure. Look to break up play and get the ball out wide as soon as possible. Keep it on the floor – leave the ariel balls to the defence and the wingers.

Hernanes –You need to be looking to joining Helguson and Nilmar as much as possible – particularly when the ball is in the air, looking for Helguson’s knock downs and either complimenting them with a quick through ball to Nilmar, who will be looking to get in behind the defence whenever the ball is high; or taking a pot shot on yourself from the edge of the box.

Nilmar – When the ball is in the air, make runs off Helguson and get in behind the defence – so you’re in position for a first time shot should the big man get the flick. Don’t be scared to take men on today. Helguson will be a handful for at least one defender so you use the space created to shift into. Remember to follow in any shots from Hernanes – putting pressure on the goalie

Helguson – You know what you’ve got to do Heidar. Same as midweek. Get up. Be strong. Get your head on the ball as much as possible. There are going to be runners all around you today. Spoilt for choice. Just get a head on it.

A great draw last week away, this week we are at home and have changed formation and tactics to face liverpool. Home games are a must in this league so go out there and give it your all.

General tactics

We are going to play a high pressing game this week, Close down your opponents forcing them to make mistakes, we are continuing to play a fast direct counter attack football keeping the ball on the ground playing through liverpool

Individual Tactics

Mcgregor - Communicate with your defence to keep the box free from danger, Keep your mind on the game for the full 90 mins, catch crosses in and around 10 yards of goal line.

Debuchy - Make your opponent beat you by not diving in, show him into the centre where it will be crowded, with our high pressing game liverpool wont have the space to play and the midfielders will help to win the ball back.

Assou Ekotto - Make your opponent beat you by not diving in, show him into the centre where it will be crowded, with our high pressing game liverpool wont have the space to play and the midfielders will help to win the ball back.

Sakho & skrtel - Sakho you are our captain and defensive leader, make sure defense keeps tight line, if they play 1 striker you will sweep but if they do play two strikers mark the second striker, skrtel you have to mark the main striker. make sure that the striker/s are alway under pressure and have to play the ball back into the crowded midfield, stay goal side and do not get turned

Diarra & Sandro & Courgnet - You will all as primarily play as defensive midfielders, i expect Liverpool to play three Attacking Midfielders, so you will all protect the defense. With the full backs forcing any danger inside its going to be very crowded and even the best players cant play through this many players. You will look for De jong and Danny when we steal the ball through our high pressing game.

Courgnet - on top of your defensive duties you will be the more box to box midfielder breaking out when we are in possession, to support the attacking players

Danny - You will collect the ball along and look to spring Defoe, or play triangles with De Jong or Courgnet when he has broken forward. Look to get the ball moving forward quickly as the best chance of scoring is when they are transition. When we are not is possession stay aheand of three defensive midfielders pressing lverpols defensive midfielders work in a team with De Jong who will drop back to help. Shoot when you have the chance

De Jong - You will drop back and work with Danny to press the defensive midfielders, When we are n possession look to play quick one twos and release defoe when he is on the shoulder, If Defoe drops run in behind into space left. Shoot when you have the chance

Defoe - stay on shoulder and look to get behind defence from quick balls, if space not there, You will hold up ball and drop it out to de jong and Danny, and looking for ball back over the top, mix this up with dropping and leaving space for de jong to break into into. Shoot when opportunity arises

In goal is highly experienced Akinfeev, the Russian brings confidence to the back 4, he will come for high balls and deal with them best he can, either catching or getting a strong punch clear. Will look to come off his line to reduce the shooting angle for strikers and put pressure on them. Will throw/kick early to get the wingers going.

Srna at right back loves to attack and support the winger, he will drive passed Walcott after making the pass looking for a return or just to take the LB away leaving space for Walcott or he will play long passes down the wing looking for Walcott to burst passed the LB. Defend strong stay on yer feet and dont allow the winger to cut in.

Pieters will stay back allowing Srna to attack. This will not allow us to become exposed at the back. He must be strong in the tackle and stand up to the winger. His upper body strength is useful and he will shove the winger out wide and stop any danger coming from that side.

Rami is the leader at the back, he keeps the back 4 together, he will sit spare looking fo any danger coming through from midfield and he will look to intercept man/ball and clear the danger, will also look to help out fellow defenders if they struggle in any way. He goes up for corners.

Ruiz is the man marker, he keeps close to the CF and stop him from being a danger. Stop him turning in on goal and generally keep him quiet. Be strong, stay up and get as close to the player as possible.

M'Vilas job is simple, he keeps the AM/SS out of the game, if he does that then that stops alot of their attacks, close him down early and let him know he is in for a game and he wont get any time to dictate play. This will force him to early, misplaced passes and Vidal/Marchisio will pick up from there.

Marchisio is a box to box midfielder along with Vidal the pair will defend with M'Vila going head to head with the two Lyon CMs, very industrious players and workhorses, they will battle for everything and make it as difficult as possibl;e for them to get going forward. When attacking Marchisio and Vidal will pick the ball up from behind and get it moving forward, use the wingers so they can drive forward into the danger area and put some pressure on the defenders.. Also, look to support the wingers as they pass and move into space looking for a return to break the line of defense. Vidal and Marchisio are not afraid to shoot from distance.

Walcott relies alot n pace, he will knock the ball passed the LB and use his pace to out run him and either cross in or drive into the box, with Srna supporting the two will be a huge threat to Lyon. Walcott will also look for over the top balls from Srna so he can drive on and try and break free.

Perotti is different he is more skillful and will look to use his skill to get passed the RB, he wont have so much support so will use Vidal/Marchisio inside to pass and move, once passed they will look to use triangles to break the defense and get behind the RB to get the cross in for Gomis, or once he has passed inside make a move into the box looking to shoot.

All 5 mids when defending will stay strong and mark tightly making it as difficult as possible for Lyon to break down.

Gomis up top stays up top, always on his toes look for the ball coming forward, he will run the line and try and make some holes in theior defense for others to move into, or he will of course be looking for the ball from the centreor the crosses coiming in from out wide. Two footed and powerful in theair he will be looking to out manouvre the defenders to get his shot in. He is very good at briinging others into the game with flick ons or short passes for them to run onto.

Danilo and Emerson – Arsenal likely to only have 1 up front, so don’t be afraid to get forward whenever possible. There should always be enough cover behind you, especially with Melo to drop back and make a defensive 4 if countered against. Attack the box when the opposite flank has hold of the ball – supporting Hernanes and Nilmar.

Luisao, Dede and Costa– If you play deep it will be difficult for one forward to break you down. Look for the wing backs wherever possible, and play it around to tire the front man out. It’s not Suarez, he’s injured – so I expect the threat to be minimised.

Melo – Drop back when Danilo and Emerson are rampaging – if countered against form a defensive 4 with the 3 centre backs. In regular play stick tight to Modric, don’t allow him any creative freedom to make passes. If Arsenal are countering through Modric, take him down if needed. If there’s no ball available, knock it over the full backs into the space in the corner –Willian and Krasic could be able to latch onto it, and if not it gives us an opportunity to shape early before the Arsenal attack.

Krasic and Willian – Double up on Arsenal’s full backs. Play ball with Danilo and Emerson to work space for the cross. When the ball is on Willian’s side of the pitch I want to see Krasic and even Danilo joining Nilmar in attack, and vice versa for Willian and Emerson when play is on Krasic’s flank. Neither of you need to worry too much about defensive duties today with the wing back formation in operation, just always offer your defenders an outlet. Enrique will be back in the team so will be looking to get forward himself – make sure you’re positioned to get in behind him on the counter if we break up the attack. Test Schezeny with crosses all day long, he’s liable to drop one.

Nilmar – Always be attacking the box – I don’t want you dropping any deeper than the final third. Look to get in the box when Krasic and Willian are on the ball. Challenge Vermaelen for everything in the air – even if you can’t get the ball on target – any touch will do with the wing backs, wingers and Hernanes all under instruction to attack the box.

Hernanes – Always be looking to get it wide, and quickly. There will be 2 men on each wing so you should always have options. Alex Song doesn’t mess about and you’ll get hit if you’re not quick and the counter will be on. We’re set up well to defend against the counter attack, but we don’t want to invite it.

Team – Keep your shape but play with attacking flair. Quick movement and one touch passing is vital to breaking Arsenal down, whilst being wary of the counter attack. I think our width and quality offers us both structure and attacking options today, so use them.

IF their are no wingers for you to mark you will stay a little further up the pitch, a little ahead of the 2 CBs and try to get the ball early on from their right sided midfielder and pass it on the wing for your winger.

Monreal same as Angel lopez for defending. Stay tight on their winger and dont be out-paced by him. Tackle him in early on and try to force him as wide as possible and dont let him cut inside at all and try to link up with their midfielders. Will go forward in support when we attack.

One fullback will go forward at a time for attacks.

Musacchio will mark the CF. Stay close and tight on him and follow his runs. Track him but dont go too far from goal and leave space behind for their wingers to run into. Be physical and winning the long balls is A MUST. If he wants to take you purposely out in the midfield dont go and leave him for the midfielders to pick up. Win the long balls and get ahead of the striker on crosses.

Marchena will be more of a sweeper and will stay sharp and clear the second balls in and around the area. keep an eye on their midfielders running into the box and the wingers cutting inside. Will communicate with his CB partner and LB and knows their game as well as all three are Spanish.

Motta will be our DM today. He will stay back and will not venture into our attacking third. Will be very mobile and use his physical presence and immense stamina and keep closing down their players all day long. Keep your eyes open for their most advanced attacking midfielder and close him down as soon as he gets the ball. He will also cover for the fullbacks when they go forward and if we lose the ball and are open to a counter. Get some meaty tackles in early on if possible.

Pirlo will be alongside Motta, his Italian counterpart. Pirlo will be a deep-lying playmaker and will be our main attacking force from deep. He will win the ball with Motta and will pass it along, short, and keep things simple. use his passing range. Help out in defense and also go forward and hang around the edge of their area when we are attacking to smash any loose balls that drop around. Look for the runs made by the forwards and wingers especially and pick em out. Overpower them in midfield and use your experience well. Pick out long balls for forwards and pick out their runs.

Giovinco will be the main attacking force from our midfield. He will pick up the ball and find the wingers and the striker and will link up with the striker as well. Will not leave the striker get isolated at all during the match. Thread thru balls for Soldado and the wingers and join in the box at times. Shoot at sight and also move forward sometimes and play just behind the striker at times just to confuse their defenders. Will not stand idle or be static at any point in the game. Dribble at their defenders with pace and bamboozle them. Use your head and find spaces and try to pull one of their midfielders, if someone is marking you, or one of their defenders out of position to open space for our wingers and midfielders to run into.

Kuyt has an immense engine and will track back and his defensive duties which he always does and will not disappoint his manager. He will also put the ball in as early as possible for Soldado. Cut inside and find the midfielders and also shoot whenever possible. Get in the box when we are attacking from the other flank and use his striker instincts to nick a goal. Will run around and close em down from the front.

Boudebouz will run at pace at their fullback and will play as wide as possible and stretch the play. make room for our midfielders to run into. pick out Soldado with crosses and Kuyt's late runs at back stick. Shoot and try to confuse their FB with your quick feet. Dont show boat a lot and get an early pass forward if you see a good run. Dont let their defender pick your moves early and dont be predictive. Change flanks with Kuyt if you find the FB very hard to run or if he's having a good time in keeping you quiet. track back also which is most important. Run into the center for Soldado's flick ons and get on the second balls. Use your left foot and whip in balls all day for Soldado.

Soldado the lone man up front and will want to increase his good form this season. He will get plenty of support and balls in from the wingers and the midfielders. Try to get his head on the end of the crosses, long balls and make flick ons for the wingers and Giovinco to run onto. Will be physical and not be out-muscled or out-paced by their CBs. Hold the ball as much as possible and make use of your first-touch, it should not let the team down. Run the channels and make space for wingers to run into.

So close last week, just losing out, we can take great heart from that performance, we are going to go slightly more attacking this week following a successful midweek victory

General tactics

We are going to play a high temp pressing game, the higher we win the ball back means we can hit fast on the break press high and hunt in packs, we are playing fast attacking football, a hybrid of barca current style and treble winning Man u side. By playing the high pressing game we will stop villareal getting the ball to the attacking midfielders, nullyfying there attacking threat

Individual Tactics

Mcgregor - Work closely with your defence to keep the 18 yard a safe haven, Communicate and concentrate for the full 90 mins, claim crosses within 10 yards of goal line.

Walker - do not dive in and allow him the opportunity to cross, make sure you close the winger down down and force him onto right foot, were he will have to play the ball inside.

Assou Ekkotto - Keep a tight line with defence and do not allow space behind you, as with debuchy show the winger onto bad foot and force the play to come back into the midfield The midfield is packed and with our pressing game they will have no time to play the passes they need to attack effectivly

Both of you are attacking full back make sure when the opportunity arises you get up the field and help the wingers, do not do this at the expense of defending though

Sakho & skrtel - Sakho you are our captain and defensive leader, make sure defense keeps tight line, if they play 1 striker you will sweep but if they do play two strikers mark the second striker, skrtel you have to mark the main striker. make sure that the striker/s are alway under pressure and have to play the ball back into the crowded midfield, stay goal side and do not get turned

Diarra - If they play a midfielder in the hole you have to man mark, make sure he is never available for a pass, this leaves the striker isolated and means that the service he receves is innefectual. if they Do not have a player in the hole, sit and protect the back four

Courgent- you will play as the defensive midfielder of the two in the centre, only break when you disposes the midfielder through our pressing game, and the the quick attack is on, when in possesion play passing game to spring wingers

Menez - you will look to make inside to out runs, they defence will not be able to cope with them and it will create the space behind for you to get in, creating goalscoring opportunites for you and thh chance to set up team mates, always make back post run when Danny is crossing.

Danny - you will use outside to inside runs using that pace to beat the man on the outside and leaving you all the space in the world to break into, as the cb comes to close you down play the early low crosses for walter and de jong and menez defenders hate these, make back post run when menez has the ball. Work back press the midfielder and help the full backs, the quicker we win the ball the better chance you have of scoring

Walter - You will hold up ball and drop it out to wingers and Danny, turning for quick ball over the top for wingers we will be playing lots of crosses today so make sure you are in the box sniffing out chances, when making runs avoid back post runs looking to favour the centre front post just getting in front of attacker and nicking touch

Team Talk
Play it safe at the back and pass the ball between yourselves until space opens up ahead of you. Midfield, stretch the play down the wings, cut inside, look for the space to exploit and keep them chasing the ball to tire them out. When attacking support the play and always give eachother options. If we are tightly marked, play it backwards or to the wings and start the attack again.

Specifics
Artur - If they get any crosses in, be strong in the air and collect the ball or punch it away if the box is crowded. The same applies to free kicks. Be alert to any midfielders joining the attack for any long range shots. Our CB's will look to get the block in, but watch for any deflections. Do not go to ground too easily if it is a case of one-on-one. Close down the striker and make yourself large making the shot on goal more difficult. For goal kicks look to the wings, or pass it to the LW for a build up down the wings.

Luisão & Dedé - Challenge strong (but fair) in the air. Luisão mark their striker, Dede, if they play a 2nd striker you are marking him, if they dont, watch their CAM for his runs and get in front of him quickly for any long range shots. When in possession look for Melo & Willian (Willian dropping back to receive the ball) to pass the ball to, if they are marked, play the ball across the back 4 until someone is in space to pass the ball to.

Costa & Emerson - Watch for the runs from their wingers. Block any crosses you can. Watch for Luisão's lead and follow your captains instructions when playing an offside trap. Communicate with the CB's. Double up with Cesar & Willian on their wingers to stop them passing the ball back inside. Look to make quick runs down the wings when we are in comfortable possession and hug the wings keeping our width when attacking. When defending keep with their wingers when they go to make their runs and when they cut inside.

Melo - Close down their striker and CAM before they even get to our goal as you have cover behind you in our CB's and get plenty tackles in. Watch for the runs of their wingers coming inside. When we have possession in front of you, look for the space behind incase the ball comes back.

Cesar & Willian - In your defensive roles, get back to support our wingbacks when their wingers are attacking. Look to get into space for our goal kicks. Make runs ahead of their wingers when Costa & Emerson have the ball to receive the ball to attack their wing backs. Keep the ball on the wing as long as you can, and when their midfielders join their wingers to close you down, play the ball back to Costa or Emerson so they can pass it to Krasic instantly where the space is for a quick attack. Play the ball to feet to Krasic and Nilmar when you cut inside. Take on your markers when one on one, run onto goal for a shot or square it for our strikers. When the ball is on one wing, the other winger to come insdie and support play in the box to keep their defence busy.

Krasic - Playing the free role. Look for the space to start attacks. Spread the play across the wings stretching their midfield. Look for the runs of our strikers playing through balls and balls over the top of their CB's for them run onto. Make space for shots on the edge of the box, look for the runs of our wingers cutting inside for one twos. When our wingers have beaten their markers, get just inside of the penalty area for a one touch shot when the ball is played in. Also remember your duties in defending the midfield.

Kleber & Nilmar - When we are not in possession I need you to get back to support the midfield. Make runs off eachother and look to play eachother in. Shoot from distance and run at their defence and play through balls to each other. Shoot on sight when in the box. If marked tightly, play the ball back to Krasic and look to turn your marker for a ball over the top or a through ball. Draw out your CB marker so that if our winger beats his marker he has the space to run at goal.

Arteta will be alongside van Bommel. Arteta will be our main attacking force from central midfield. He will win the ball with Motta and Bommel and will pass it along, short, and keep things simple. use his passing range. Help out in defense and also go forward and hang around the edge of their area when we are attacking to smash any loose balls that drop around. Stop them from getting forward and stop our FB from getting double-teamed. If they start to play centrally then close em down quickly in the middle of da park. Stop their passing game and dont allow them to play flowing football. Will also go forward in attacks.

Cani has an immense engine and will track back and his defensive duties which he always does and will not disappoint his manager. He will also put the ball in as early as possible for Rossi. Akinfeev in goal is highly experienced, he leads by example at the back and is constantly shouting at the back 4 keeping them right. Dealing with high balls what he cant catch I want him to get a very strong punch out to clear the danger. When they attack be quick off the line to close them down and reduce the angle for their shot making it as difficult as possible. Release the ball early to quick fullbakcs or a longer throw/kick to front 4.

Srna likes to attack, but defending is his 1st priority, keep tight to the winger and use all his European experinece to keep him quiet. Use strength to keep him to the outside and look to force him away from the danger area. Stay tall and dont dive in. Keep crosses in to a minimum. When attacking get outside Perotti, this will take their LB away from Gaitan freeing up space for him. Srna will either do this as a dummy run just to take the man away or he will get the ball back from Perotti in space for him to get a good cross in.

Alba, much the same tactics as Srna as he loves to get down the flank in support of Gaitan. But again, defending against Arsenal is top priority, only when these two (Srna) are in no danger can they attack but i do stress only one goes at a time we cannot afford to leave the defence overly exposed. Like Srna keep the wingers attacks and crosses to a minimum and stand tall, tackle hard,,,,and fair...Attack the flank supporting Gaitan looking to go outside allowing Gaitan to either move in looking for a return ball or take the RB on to get the cross in early.

Both quick fullbacks who will run like Forest all day and getting up and down the pitch will be no problem.

Rami will be the spare defender today and leader at the back, he will be watching the open spaces ahead of him making sure Arsenal dont move into these gaps, he must be quick on his toes looking to intercept any through balls or any midfielder coming forward unmarked. Get in hard and clear any danger. He will go up front when we have corners and use his height to creat problems for there defence.

Ruiz is the man marker, he picks up the CF and sticks to him like glue when they come forward, I want him right up his backside this will make it difficult for the CF to turn in on goal. The striker will be quick so Ruiz cant afford to give him a yard or he will be away, this iswhy he must stay close. Keep him away from goal and nulify his attacks.

Rami, Ruiz and Alba have all played together alot so know each other very well and know what each others game style is.

M'Vila is the main defensive midfielder, he is the rock in the midfield allowing others to attack, he sits just in front of the centre backs, keeping an eye on their AM/SS and stops the lad from dictating play. Get in quick on him and stop him passing about, if onto him quickly this will force him into early mispaced passes allowing us quick breaks. However M'Vila once broken up these plays WILL NOT venture too far forward as this could well be the case if Arsenal break up play I want M'Vila there to protect the defense at all times.

Vidal my captain leads by example in the middle, a constant runner, defending he will sit along side M'Vila breaking up play and get right into their faces, he is a nuicanse for them and will harray and harass them and never give up the cause. When play is broken up and the ball is away to the wings or up front he will make his run well timed and try and get on the end of any loose ball and have a drive at goal. His enthusiasm for the game rubs off on all his team-mates and will go right up until the full time whistle.

Perotti will take his marker on, quick and mobile will also have at times Srna for support, this allows him to cut inside free of the FBV as Srna will have taken him away. He can then either pass to Srna down the wing or drive inside with the ball looking for Ilicic to have quick one twos making triangular passes to get him (or Ilicic) into the box to cause problems for their defence. If he doesnt use Srna and goes down the wing himself get to the bye-line and get the crosses in early for Kerzhakov.

Gaitan on the left will also look to take his man on, again supported by Alba, he too will be looking for Alba to free up some space for him to allow him to cut inside either taking the ball with him or look for a return from Alba, if Alba gets free the Gaitan will make his way into the box looking to cause havoc in the area. Gaitan has all the skill to trouble the right back and will drive at him himself if Alba is there and again get the crosses in early for Kerzhakov or look to Ilicic in the middle.

Ilicic is the free man in the middle, he will link up play between those behind and the front 3, he will at times drop deep looking to pick up the ball from Mvila/Vidal and will spray it about either to the fullbacks coming up or to the wings/Kerzhakov, his vision is 2nd to none and will split the defence in a matter of seconds. If deep then long balls will allow the wingers to use their pace against the fullbacks, or short one twos trying to break the line of defence with Gaitan/Perotti. Also he will get it through to Kerzhakov and follow his pass either to free up space for Kerzhakov or look for a lay off from him to have a pop at goal.

All 3 attracking midfielders must track their men back. Stop them supporting the forwards and not allow them to get to far forward.

Kerzhakov is a predator, a natural goal scorer and will get into spaces waiting for crosses in or the balls through from central positions. Constantly on his toes looking to make space for himself or others breaking into the box. If they make it difficult for him to shoot then bring others into it with neat lay offs or cut backs to allow them to have a go. If he is tightly marked then always be on the move and try and get free of the marker.

General tactics

We are going to squeeze the game this week, press high and hunt in packs, we are playing fast counter attack football keeping the ball on the ground and playing through Arsenal

Individual Tactics

Mcgregor - Work closely with your defence to keep the 18 yard a safe haven, Communicate and concentrate for the full 90 mins, claim crosses within 10 yards of goal line.

Walker - do not dive in and allow him the opportunity to cross, make sure you close the winger down down and force him onto right foot, were he will have to play the ball inside.

Ceara - Keep a tight line with defence and do not allow space behind you, as with debuchy show the winger onto bad foot and force the play to come back into the midfield The midfield is packed and with our pressing game they will have no time to play the passes they need to attack effectivly

Sakho & skrtel - Sakho you are our captain and defensive leader, make sure defense keeps tight line, if they play 1 striker you will sweep but if they do play two strikers mark the second striker, skrtel you have to mark the main striker. make sure that the striker/s are alway under pressure and have to play the ball back into the crowded midfield, stay goal side and do not get turned

Diarra - If they play a midfielder in the hole you have to man mark, make sure he is never available for a pass, this leaves the striker isolated and means that the service he receves is innefectual. if they Do not have a player in the hole, sit and protect the back four

Courgnet - you will play as the defensive midfielder of the two in the centre, only break when you dispose the midfielder through our pressing game, and the the quick attack is on, when is pssesion p;lay passing game to spring wingers

Pienaar - I need you to be more disciplined today pressing and harrowing in midfield but when we are in attack you can go, play a passing game to spring wingers, shot when the opportunity arises

Menez - you will look to make inside to out runs, they defence will not be able to cope with them and it will create the space behind for you to get in, creating goalscoring opportunites for you and thh chance to set up team mates, always make back post run when Palacios is crossing.

Rodrigo Palacios - you will use outside to inside runs using that pace to beat the man on the outside and leaving you all the space in the world to break into, as the cb comes to close you down play the early low crosses for de natalie and menez defenders hate these, pienaar breaking late for rebounds and cut backs make, when the cb doesn't come tower down on goal using clinical nature to score. make back post run when menez has the ball.

Good win last week, but we need to protect our midfield more. I dont want to see Melo targeted by 2 or 3 attacking midfielders, so Hernanes & Hleb, get back to help him out. Spread play across the wings to keep them chasing the ball. Look for the runs of Nilmar and our wingers cutting inside.

Mika - Try to catch the ball in the first instance, but if in doubt punch it clear, dont take any chances. Look to the wings for goal kicks as the midfield will be packed.

Luisão & Dedé - Luisão, stay tight to their attacker. Dedé follow the runs of the CAM if he gets passed Melo. Use strength to out-muscle when challenging for the ball in the air. Be alert for set pieces and corners. Look to start a quick counter attack by feeding the ball to Danilo or Emerson to go down the wings.

Danilo & Emerson - Link up with Krasic & Willian going forward. Defend strongly on the wings, dont take chances, knock it out for the throw in if necessary. Keep goal side of their wingers, follow them if they cut inside.

General talk - A tough home game against the league leaders. The plan today is to control the midfield area with our two holding midfielders and supported by the wingers and AM. Play your natural game. When we dont have possession close em down as a unit and keep your shape. Be organised and rigid when defending.

Tactics

Friedel is experienced and will bring a calmness to our defense. He will make decisions whether to come out or punch or catch. Excellent shot stopper and will keep the defense organised at all times.

Anyukov comes back in the side. He will be solid at the back and keep close to their winger. Do not let him to run at our fullbacks and exposing our defense on their counters. Will out jump him on the long balls played up field by benfica. Go forward when we have possession. Show him the outside if the winger has a weaker right foot.

Monreal same as Anyukov for defending. Stay tight on their winger and dont be out-paced by him. Tackle him in early on and try to force him as wide as possible and dont let him cut inside at all and try to link up with their midfielders. Will go forward in support when we attack.

One fullback will go forward at a time for attacks. Stay with your winger and do not get flat-footed. Look for quick 1-2s and do not drift inside nearer to the CBs when the attack is on the other flank so that their winger cannot ghost past you at the back post.

Otamendi will mark the CF. Stay close and tight on him and follow his runs. Track him but dont go too far from goal and leave space behind for their wingers to run into. Be physical and winning the long balls is A MUST. If he wants to take you purposely out in the midfield dont go and leave him for the midfielders to pick up. Win the long balls and get ahead of the striker on crosses. You have pace and are strong in the tackle as well. Impress the manager on your debut.

Marchena will be more of a sweeper and will stay sharp and clear the second balls in and around the area. Keep an eye on their midfielders running into the box and the wingers cutting inside. Stay very focused throughout the whole match as their wingers have a lot of pace and will exploit any weakness in our defense. Play quick passes after winning possession and start attacks from the back. Will communicate with his CB partner and LB as all three speak Spanish.

Motta will be our DM today. He will stay back and will not venture into our attacking third. Will be very mobile. He will quickly close down their AM and will also keep an eye on their wingers cutting inside. Stop them from playing quick passing football or quick 1-2s in front of our area and stop their football from flowing. Will cover for the fullbacks if they are in the attack and just get your foot in the game. Do not allow them to dictate the ball in the midfield.

Pirlo will be a deep-lying playmaker. He will play his usual long balls over the Lyon defense and will expose their fullbacks, when they are on the attack, by playing thru balls to the striker and our wingers. Will also be playing short, quick passes around the midfield and get things flowing for us. Use your experience and create something from the deep. Dont let their midfielders to establish their control over the midfield area. Get the ball from the defense and pass it along to the wingers and pick out their runs. Work with Motta in winning the ball and keep the midfield organised.

Kuyt has an immense engine and will track back and his defensive duties which he always does and will not disappoint his manager. He will also put the ball in as early as possible for Soldado. Cut inside and find the midfielders and also shoot whenever possible. If you are being marked tightly try to cut inside more often and find the midfielders. Get in the box when we are attacking from the other flank. Will close em down from the front. Double with your FB to stop their winger doing any damage to us. Play 1-2s with the AM and striker as well.

Diego is our AM. He will play between their midfield and defense and will not allow anyone to pick him up. He will be very mobile and get the ball from midfield and look for the striker and wingers. Also shoot on goal whenever things open up for him. Create something in the match attackingwise. Will help the team when we we have lost possession and will be very mobile.

Giovinco will run at pace at their fullback and take him on at every opportunity. Réveillère is getting on in years and Giovinco has pace to burn. He will be given the ball quickly in our attacks so that he runs at their FB and makes him commit mistakes. Take him outside or cut inside if he's showing you on your weaker foot and start to drift more towards the centre. This will mean that the FB will come with you and will allow space for our fullback to bomb forward and will also provide their midfield with, sometimes, an extra man to deal with. Track back also which is most important. Run into the center for Soldado's flick ons and get on the second balls. Use your left foot and whip in balls all day for Soldado.

Soldado the lone man up front. He will get plenty of support and balls in from the wingers and the midfielders and will keep his goal scoring record going. Try to get his head on the end of the crosses, long balls and make flick ons for the wingers and Diego to run onto. Draw their CB out of his comfort zone. Hold the ball as much as possible and make use of your first-touch, it should not let the team down. Run the channels and make space for wingers to run into. Shoot at sight and close down when not in possession.

Benfica are likely to play down the wings and so we will stifle this area cutting supply to the front man meaning no chances no scories. They are likely to play 1 DM and so 2 of there forward going midfielders will drop we will utilize the space they have left this dragging them all over the pitch so they lose there shape leaving plenty space for our creative midfielder to play there game.

Diarra - Your job is to sit at all times with sandro, they will play with Hernanes and Hleb, Pushing forward and Nilmar dropping. If Nilmar drops stop him from collecting the ball and shooting, he is your man when this happens. when he doesnt keep in fromt of hernanes and hleb and make sure they cant pass round youplay short simple passes to the front 4, communicate with the defence and sandro to keep us secure at the back.

Sandro - Your job is to sit at all times with sandro, they will play with Hernanes and Hleb, Pushing forward and Nilmar dropping. when nilmar drops he is diarras duty you have to watch hleb and hernanes i expect hernanes to try to enter this space, skrtel and sakho are ready for him, make sure hleb doesnt find him with ball. Communicate with the defence and Diarra to keep us secure at the back.

Palacios and Menez - Defensive instructions first - You will follow the wingers back and help the fullbacks, help them defend they will help you score, its a team game. try to push them inside and follow them to middle of the pitch, stay wth the run if they pass and turn.

Attacking instructions - we are going to play a fast passing game, lots a quick one twos, give and goes, with VDV and Di Natalie you all have great touch, visions and ability to play like this. Hernanes and Hleb will drop into help Melo, but they are not true defenders, so just pop it back so they follow the ball and play round them leaving you up in numbers and there defence out of shape. Shoot when the opportunity arises. If Di Natlie drops you run into the space the diagonal run is a Nightmare to mark so you get plenty of space and time to score

VDV - free role today, find that space and work your magic using quick one twos and give and goes looking to release and create chances for menez, palcios, and Di Natalie Shoot when the opportunity arises.

Team Talk: You've got a good chance of winning this week, just play a fluid game and most of all just keep the ball, work your way into the box. You have enough creativity to not have to just boot it.

Tactics:

Kameni: Have confidence in your defence, try not to make any silly runs, allow your defenders to pick off the attackers and to come for balls. Stay on your line, and keep your distribution accurate and sensible.

Sagna: Your job is to run down the line, support Carzola when attacking, and support Song when defending. Stay out wide, don't come inside. Help stop any wing attacks.

Alves and Godin: Stay deep, don't try and play offside. You're on full defensive duty. Put in some hard tackles, and don't let anybody through.

Enrique: Do the same as Sagna except on the left. You may have to get forward more as Hazard will be coming inside and to his preferred right foot. Any crosses make them whipped and hard towards Adebayor.

Song: You're the shield today as we're playing attacking. You'll get support from fullbacks and Gerrard but for the most part just sit back and break up any attacks. Don't bother running forward as it's unnecessary. Make sure your passes are accurate.

Gerrard: When attacking, it's your job to sit on the edge of the box and make runs into it, or wait for any oppurtunities to shoot. A lot of our play will come through you, so try and play through balls for Suarez and Adebayor. When defending, offer support to Song, and get from box to box. The counter attack should come through you, spray the ball to the wingers and let them use their pace.

Carzola: Stick to the wings, use your pace and skill to get past fullbacks and just whip balls towards Adebayor. Don't be afraid to play simple passes to players around the box rather than cross.

Hazard: Come inside on your stronger foot. Make sure your balls are fast-paced and aimed towards Adebayor, it's his job to hold them. Don't be afraid to shoot. Use your teammates, you'll be supported by Enrique, Gerrard and Suarez.

Suarez: Big job for you today, you've got a free role and we need you to create things. Do your thing, occupy the defence, create space for others, get into the right positions.

Adebayor: Our main striker today, balls are going to be whipped at you so concentration has got to be top notch. Through balls are also likely. Hold the ball up if no support, and make sure you get plenty of shots at goal. If Suarez is well ahead of you, drop back and wait for him to get back into position.

General Tactics:
Keep the ball, make sure we play a fast-tempo game, I want to see any of their attacks transformed into counter attacks, play to our strengths so pace on the wings and creativity in the middle.

Set-pieces:
Depending on where they are on the pitch etc. make your own minds up who takes the set-pieces, if Gerrard isn't taking them, have him sit on the edge of the box ready to smash anything that comes out. Centre backs and Song should both stay back and don't bother coming up. Be clever, don't just pump it in. Use the space.

Subs:
If winning at 65 minutes: Take off Adebayor and put on Moutinho, have two central midfielders in a 4-2-3-1 formation, Suarez staying up and just play keep-ball.

If losing at 65 minutes: Take off Suarez and bring on Defoe and play with two orthodox strikers.

If anything at 70 minutes: Take off Gerrard for Raul for fresh legs, and take off Hazard for Gervinho to keep things fresh as well.

Tactics

Friedel is experienced and will bring a calmness to our defense. He will make decisions whether to come out or punch or catch. Excellent shot stopper and will keep the defense organised at all times.

Anyukov comes back in the side. He will be solid at the back and keep close to their winger. Do not let him to run at our fullbacks and exposing our defense on their counters. Will out jump him on the long balls played up field by liverpool. Go forward when we have possession. Show him the outside if the winger has a weaker right foot.

Monreal same as Anyukov for defending. Stay tight on their winger and dont be out-paced by him. Tackle him in early on and try to force him as wide as possible and dont let him cut inside at all and try to link up with their midfielders. Will go forward in support when we attack and double team their FB and overlap for your winger and try to get 2 on 1 on as many occasions as possible.

One fullback will go forward at a time for attacks. Stay with your winger and do not get flat-footed. Look for quick 1-2s and do not drift inside nearer to the CBs when the attack is on the other flank so that their winger cannot ghost past you at the back post.

Otamendi will mark the CF. Stay close and tight on him and follow his runs. Track him but dont go too far from goal and leave space behind for their wingers to run into. Be physical and winning the long balls is A MUST. If he wants to take you purposely out in the midfield dont go and leave him for the midfielders to pick up. Win the long balls and get ahead of the striker on crosses. You have pace and are strong in the tackle as well.

Marchena will be more of a sweeper and will stay sharp and clear the second balls in and around the area. Keep an eye on their midfielders running into the box and the wingers cutting inside. Stay very focused throughout the whole match as their wingers have a lot of pace and will exploit any weakness in our defense. Play quick passes after winning possession and start attacks from the back. Will communicate with his CB partner and LB as all three speak Spanish.

Motta will be our DM today. He will stay back and will not venture into our attacking third. Will be very mobile. He will quickly close down their AM and will also keep an eye on their wingers cutting inside. Stop them from playing quick passing football or quick 1-2s in front of our area and stop their football from flowing. Will cover for the fullbacks if they are in the attack and just get your foot in the game. Do not allow them to dictate the ball in the midfield. Our LB is instructed to get more forward on occasions so Motta will keep a close eye on the LM of the pitch as they are more attacking on that side.

Arteta will be in the central midfield and play a bit in front of Motta. He will play his usual long balls over the Livpol defense and will expose their fullbacks, when they are on the attack, by playing thru balls to the striker and our wingers. Will also be playing short, quick passes around the midfield and get things flowing for us. Use your experience and create something from the deep. Dont let their midfielders to establish their control over the midfield area. Get the ball from the defense and pass it along to the wingers and pick out their runs. Work with Motta in winning the ball and keep the midfield organised. Do not be caught in possession and pass the ball as soon as you receive it if under pressure.

Kuyt has an immense engine and will track back and his defensive duties which he always does and will not disappoint his manager. He will also put the ball in as early as possible for Soldado. Cut inside and find the midfielders and also shoot whenever possible. If you are being marked tightly try to cut inside more often and find the midfielders. Get in the box when we are attacking from the other flank. Will close em down from the front. Double with your FB to stop their winger doing any damage to us. Play 1-2s with the AM and striker as well.

Diego will play alongisde Arteta in midfield but will be further advanced when we have possession. He will play between their midfield and defense and will not allow anyone to pick him up. He will be very mobile and get the ball from midfield and look for the striker and wingers. Also shoot on goal whenever things open up for him. Get in the box and push up more and pressure them when without posesion. Create something in the match attackingwise. Will help the team when we we have lost possession and will be very mobile.

Giovinco will run at pace at their fullback and take him on at every opportunity. He will be given the ball quickly in our attacks so that he runs at their FB and makes him commit mistakes. If their FB is not goin forward in attacks then Giovinco will be stationed on the mid line and get the ball and run at him. Take him outside or cut inside if he's showing you on your weaker foot and start to drift more towards the centre. Track back also which is most important. Run into the center for Soldado's flick ons and get on the second balls. Use your left foot and whip in balls all day for Soldado.

Soldado the lone man up front. He will get plenty of support and balls in from the wingers and the midfielders and will keep his goal scoring record going. Try to get his head on the end of the crosses, long balls and make flick ons for the wingers and Diego to run onto. Draw their CB out of his comfort zone. Hold the ball as much as possible and make use of your first-touch, it should not let the team down. Run the channels and make space for wingers to run into. Shoot at sight and close down when not in possession.

SUBS - IF WINNING - After 70 mins - Diego OFF van Bommel ON. Bommel to sit back more and control the midfield with Arteta and Motta. Keep our shape.

IF LOSING - After 65 mins - Olic ON for Motta. Olic goes up top with Soldado.
Arteta partners Diego in midfield with Diego pushing more up field. Arteta will play more balls to the 2 strikers. Wingers will cut inside more and Olic will play on the shoulder of the last defender and get in the box.

Akinfeev has proven over time he is one of Europes finest, a strong keeper and valuable team member. He makes himself as big as possible and closes down strikers to make the angle as acute as possible. Will come for high balls and what he cant catch he will punch clear. Will also look to set up quick counters by launching it upto the front 4. When they are stranded in our half.

Pieters will sit back and allow Srna to do the attacking from the back, he will stand tall and not do anything silly stay on his feet and not dive in. All he has to do is stand his ground and keep him to the outside and nulify the wingers attacks.

Srna is an attacking fullback, he loves getting forward and Pieters staying back he has freedom to do this, along with Perotti the two will pose a real threat to them as they look to get two on one situations, passing and moving into space, one will go to the outside as the cuts inside always making themselves available for a return pass. Whoever gets passed the LB will whip it into the area for those in the box. Defending he must stay strong against the LW keep him to the outside and generally keep him quiet.

Rami will man mark the striker, stay close and stop him turning in on goal, stay on his feet and use his muscle to keep his back to goal, he cant afford to lose him so will have to stay very focussed on the job at hand. Rami will go up for corners and use his height to cause mayhem.

Ruiz will be spare, waiting for any through balls so he can intercept and clear the danger,if any other player comes through unmarked he willbe there to stop him in his tracks. He will also help Rami if nothing else is a danger or look for wingers that have made themselves clear of our fullbacks.

Vidal is the main DM today, he watches the playmaker/AM of Villareal and keeps him quiet, if successful then this nulifies alot of their attacks. Be onto him quick and hard and make him wary of holding onto the ball too long, this will force him to make early misplaced passes. can venture forward and sit on the edge of the box, however be prepared to get back quickly.

Marchisio adds muscle and energy to the midfield, he never gives up and will help Vidal break up play, he will be onto the second attacking midfielder as soon as he has the ball to rip it away from him and get the ball moving forward, once the ball is up the fielf he will follow his pass and make himself available for the return or just take players away from others to free up some space.

Ilicic is free, he will drop back and help defensively and pick up the ball when we have it and with Vidal/Marchisio they will take it and drive forward, get it out to the wings and get into the box or send Kerzhakov free on goal. He has height so when he is in the box he will be an aeriel danger. He can also be used as a pivot for the wingers so one twos or triangles to get beyond the defenders and into dangerous areas.

Gaitan and Perotti are massive for us, they are match winners. With pace and skill they will look to take on the fullbacks either outside or inside. Perotti will be supported by Srna so they will constantly go at the LB who will eventually get tired and they will use this to there advantage. pass and move into space and get the ball into the box. Either that or Both Gaitan and Perotti can use Ilicic and look to pass and drive into the box looking for his defense splitting passes. Both will track back and stop their fullbacks getting too far forward.

Kerzhakov is an excellent finisher and high on confidence. Will always look to make himself available in space, stay on his toes and try to keep away from his marker. If the marker goes with him this frees up space for others to move into. Is good in the air and a wicked right foot so will always be there to take a chance if he gets a sniff at goal.
