Re: The Sopranos
For me the best drama series ever, I never watched them first time around mainly due to it being on when I was usually otherwise engaged, I just never got a chance to get into it, 2 years ago I bought the box-set and couldn't take my eyes off it, just seen it in HMV the other day, £49 for the lot, just can't beat that for value for money

I agree, best drama series ever.
I've watched them all around 4 times and still find them just as good as the 1st.

Re: The Sopranos
Yeah I've bought the set, as Gaffer mentioned, for £49.
Looking forward to getting stuck in to it. I've heard nothing but praise for this.

Quality series. I've only recently finished watching them meself. Started when Sky Atlantic starting showing them from the first series but after about four episodes I had to get the box set cos I hated waiting until next week to see it.
Even my bird started getting into it which was a bonus cos watching at least 3 a night haha.
My favourite episode has to be 'Pine Barrens'

Pine Barrens is a great episode. Got the box set a couple of years ago and watched it every night until i finished it. Going to leave it another year or two and then go for it again.

Re: The Sopranos
Seen the series several times. Quite simply the greatest TV series ever. Well written, brilliant acted and fantastic production and direction throughout.
Read the terribly sad news about Gandoldini today, genuinely gutted. The character of Tony is a murdering, philandering sociopath, prone to mood swings and bouts of extreme violence. In the hands of a less talented actor could be thoroughly loathsome. It is testament to Gandolfini’s skill as an actor that he came across as likeable, witty, scary and charismatic, frequently within the same scene. RIP.

Not been on for a while but felt I had to pay tribute to James Gandolfini. The Sopranos is definitely the best TV drama ever, I've watched it through at least three times over the years and in my opinion it gets better each time. Gandolfini was the lynchpin of the show, his portrayal of Tony was sublime, he was the glue that held it all together. Gutted when I read the news of his death, so young too, RIP James.

RIP James Gandolfini - shocked and gutted by the news this morning. What a fabulous actor and way too young.
Re: The Sopranos
Good to see you back on here SBS, irrespective of the circumstances, would be nice to see you back on the boxing page, with blakkmamba's reappearance yesterday would be a proper 606 reunion.

Re: The Sopranos
Sopranos certainly in the top 3 greatest drama series (The Wire would also be there).
Sad news about Gandolfini - played Tony Soprano brilliantly (he could have easily been a caricature) and showed his versatility (and great comic ability) in "In the Loop".

Cheers Jeff, life is very busy these days and I've found I've lost some of my passion for boxing over the last year, I don't watch anywhere near as much as I used to. Miss chatting with you guys but I'm a bit out of the loop, don't think I'd have much to say about boxing right now! Give everyone my best though:)

Not unique, SBS. The current scene doesn't exactly inspire passion.

Just ignore the current scene and talk about guys who have been dead 50 years nobody has ever heard of. Gets me through the day on here.
