Pre-Match Promos

Its obvious to me to see that the quality of Promos before matches nowadays at PPVs have gone vastly down hill.... to me a good promo before a match is as important as the match itself as it helps get everybody geared up for the performance that is coming...will the old days return of truely classic promos such as this 'Austin v Rock II' at Wrestlemania 17

What are your views on the promos do you feel they are important to a good main event or do you think there just pointless?

i think promos are very good for the main event as it builds momentum and gets the fans more excited

I think a good promo video can make a big match seem that extra bit more important. Over the years the WWF/E has done an excellent job of putting together the right video for a certain match that hypes it up perfectly. Unfortunately, they're a bit hit & miss these days but they can still crank out a good one from time to time.

The Shawn Michaels V Taker ones were excellent!

Even the one about The Miz and his WWE career before his Wrestlemania Main Event was excellent!

That was a good montage, but I don't think they're going downhill. I thought the Miz video was incredible. I also liked the Taker-Michaels one last year.

its hard for the mid card, it seems like WWE would rather run daft backstage skits then give their mid card serious mic time to get their character over. TNA used an interesting concept a few weeks ago where they had old school inset videos with short promos from the X Division wrestlers I thought this was awesome but they seem to have stopped it.

What I miss are the pre-match interviews, they used to be my favourite things about PPVs. Used to be cool when Bret Hart was talking to Mean Gene of Austin talking with Doc Hendrix when their music would hit and they would leave the interview and walk to the ring.
