I think his real name is Yemenese I'm sure I read it in Boxing news I don't know why he gets called Barry.

Barry is his middle name.

Barry is a consequence of the not particularly politically correct nickname hung on him by Brendan Ingle who started calling him Barry the Arab when he first joined the gym.
