This is probably the wrong place to post but I'm really proud of him and wanted to share it. His name is Phillip De Fries. He's fighting at UFC 155 in Vegas.

I'm off to Vegas with work at the end of January and have a baby on the way in 11 days time so I'll be supporting him from home.

The bout is actually December 29th.

Congrats! I heavily follow UFC and know what effort and standard of ability he has to be to be approached and offered a place. It's the mecca of MMA and every MMA fighters dream.

He's fighting Mitrione a strong powerful former NFL player who knocked out Kimbo Slice. It is going to be hard for Phil but with a bit of luck he can get the submission.

Whats his fighting background then? As in , what marital art did/does he study?

He is a BJJ guy fighting in MMA. He is working on his striking game but of course he prefers the floor. I don't know MMA very well but I'm sure there aren't many 6 5" 240lb submission only fighters?

The submission game is more rare at HW so if he's confidant and can get him to the floor he should have a chance.

I don't like Mitrione and think he's a moron so ill be rooting for your guy!

Think i've seen the kid fight, he ever taken part at the fed brewery by the metro centre? Few of my old training partners/mates have fought there, I've been along to watch/assist on the corner...

Lets hope he can take him down and not get tagged because from what I've seen it looks like Mitrione can bang abit. Saying that, if your over 220lb and in shape theres a good chance you can bang!

Like I say I don't follow the sport but I've got a feeling he may be ranked as the Number 1 Heavyweight in the UK... after beating Rob Broughton, Oli Thompson and Stavros Economou in his last four fights?? I admit those names mean nothing to me but I know it's a totally different ball game across the pond.

Anyway, proud as I am, he's had enough words wrote about him on a boxing site.
