Speaking of Arizona, the first team ever to collapse from 4-0 to 4-7.

Re: Week 12 discussion thread (THANKSGIVING DAY FOOTBALL!)
Looking at the playoff picture, the top 4 in the AFC are set. Texans look set for a bye with 1 of Pats, Broncos and Ravens to follow. Colts look set to get in by default, and the Steelers need Ben back next week to hold off a charging Bengals team. Yeah the AFC is really top heavy.
The Falcons can take a big step towards a bye with a win over NO on TNF. Bears are clinging to the #3 seed, but a matchup with GB looms large to decide the NFC North which remains the only division probably up for grabs.
Giants hold tie breakers over the 49ers and Packers, though remain a game behind SF. You'd say its going to be Falcons, 49ers, Bears, Giants, Packers +1 in the NFC. Seahawks currently hold that spot, but down their 2 starting CBs and a limited passing game they're in trouble.

Yeah.
But what's the difference? They both suck.

Re: Week 12 discussion thread (THANKSGIVING DAY FOOTBALL!)
I'd like to think the Bears can hold on but if Green Bay come back to win the division it could catapult NYG to the 3rd or potentially 2nd seed. The 49ers have the Rams twice, the Pats and the mighty mighty Seahawks.
Re: Week 12 discussion thread (THANKSGIVING DAY FOOTBALL!)
The Giants are a game and a half behind the 49ers in their quest for the 2nd seed. There would have to be a two game turnaround.
The 49ers have already played the Rams once (the tied game). There other game in against the Dolphins.
It will be interesting to see how Kaepernick and Smith plays out for the rest of the season and beyond. I'm all for playing players in form so don't mind them sticking with Kaepernick.

Re: Week 12 discussion thread (THANKSGIVING DAY FOOTBALL!)
Bengals @ Steelers in Week 16 is quite probably going to be the deciding game. Both currently 6-5, Steelers have beaten Bengals once already, PIT have @Ravens, Chargers, @Cowboys, Bengals, Browns left, CIN have @Chargers, Cowboys, @Eagles, @Steelers, Ravens. Can see Steelers beating Chargers + Cowboys and probably Browns if they have Roethlisberger + Brown fit, with Big Ben pushing to play this week Ravens game will be interestin, and can see Bengals beating Chargers, Cowboys, Eagles but Steelers and Ravens will be hard games.GSC wrote:Looking at the playoff picture, the top 4 in the AFC are set. Cowboys have placed LB Bruce Carter on IR.
Also Seahawks haven't currently lost their starting CBs, as they're both apparently appealing the decision they get to practice and play until the appeal process is over (which apparently took over a month when Haden appealed).

Arizona have put their centre, Lyle Sendlein on IR with a torn MCL. Life just got tougher for their QBs.

Re: Week 12 discussion thread (THANKSGIVING DAY FOOTBALL!)
In addition to what we were saying about PEDs and leniency etc
on the chatbox yesterday, this is what popular journalist Bill Simmons has just tweeted on the issue: "@BillSimmons: These "Adderall" excuses for NFL suspensions are such a joke. Goodell should launch Adderall Awareness Month so it's an even bigger lie."and On Adderall - isn't it interesting that (a) nobody gets suspended for PEDs anymore, and (b) NFL isn't allowed to tell us what drug it was?"
And this link is interesting: http://t.co/PfGizOwL
Glad to see some journalists say (finally!) what we're all thinking!

Its a copout so they don't have to admit steroids. Saves the players from admitting they cheat and the NFL from admitting they have drug cheats

Re: Week 12 discussion thread (THANKSGIVING DAY FOOTBALL!)
The Panthers are looking more consistent than the Eagles. Foles doesn't really have anyone to throw to. Bryce Brown is looking good though. The Eagles do have some good young talent.

Just looking at the Super Bowl betting and you can still get 12/1 on the Giants. That looks too big with the offence and defence they have. I can't believe the Texans are favourites.

I agree. Like I wrote in my NFC East mid-season review, the Giants know how to win when they absolutely have to. The bigger the game, the better they seem to be. They seem to have a habit of getting caught out in the games you would expect them to win easily. You only have to look at the two Superbowls they have won recently and even this season with their big wins against the 49ers and Packers. People were really starting to doubt them heading in to that Green Bay and they ended up just blowing them away. I picked the Giants to win the Superbowl in my review and while I'm not as certain about that now as I was then, I still won't be surprised if it's them we see lifting the Lombardi trophy come February. 12/1 is excellent value on them I'd say.

At least Brown looked explosive. Could have a good 1-2 next year with a coach that actually runs the ball.

Meh, fairly. Hasn't done anything this season, and both Graham and Curry outplayed him.
Ross Tucker @RossTuckerNFL
Babin already claimed termination pay in his career. It's a 1-time thing which means Eagles owe him nothing
That also explains it. Heads to waivers.

Babins only useful in the wide-9, Cincy and Detroit run it.
The Eagles dont have a good young CB thats worth giving gametime. And they could keep Nnamdi if he restructures.

I always fast forward it (as I watch Monday morning) but the package is the same as it used to be so I assume it is still "Two Tribes" by Frankie Goes to Hollywood

Re: Week 12 discussion thread (THANKSGIVING DAY FOOTBALL!)
Watched a bit of the game. Defensively beyond a joke. Curry made the most of his snaps though, probably the reason why Babins name appears on waivers.
Foles hesitant, needs to push the ball down the field a bit more. Had his struggles, but hard to get a read on him down his #1 WR and the slot guy, and with an OL that cannot pass protect at all.
Brown showed some nice moves, and enough to suggest he can part of a good duo with Shady. Unlike Shady, he doesn't dance, just bursts through the hole. Nice mix of speed and power. Pass protection and ball security obviously a concern, but those 2 things have been fixed many times in the NFL. Line looks alright when they run block, shame McCoy gets it like 10 times a game and invariably from shotgun.
