Worst Title Reign? - Page 2 Empty Worst Title Reign?

First topic message reminder :

I'm going to have to go for Nicky Cook on this one. Cook outpointed Arthur for the title and was handed Roman Martinez as his mandatory and first defence 6 months later.

The fight itself was embarrassingly one sided and ended with Cook crumpled in a heap after round 4. Given Martinez was exposed as a slightly one dimensional fighter thereafter, this seals my vote.

Was interim WBO champ then upgraded to full champ out of the ring. He lost his first defence. So became a world champion without actually winning a world title fight.

Beat that! Cool

The Winner!

All of you have chosen umpteen short lived champs who at least won a world title fight. Jason Matthews never won a world title fight and yet still a champion beats all other suggestions! Cool

Alex Arthur won his title in the same fashion. Became interim champ by defeating Koba Gogoladze. Was meant to fight Guzman for the full title but it be never happen. Was promoted to full champ and lost his first defence to Nicky Cook therefore was a champion but never won a the title in the ring. Granted, it was only the WBO title.

The WBO counts as much as the other titles. If it doesn't then let's discount everything that Chris Eubank ever did as a world champion. And a whole load of what ODLH did for that matter.

Jason Matthews and Alex Arthur must be the worst because they were world champs that didn't even win a world title fight.

Tommy Morrison had a god awful reign as champion, beat a no hoper then got knocked out by the WBO number 9 ranked and possibly the worst heavyweight champion of all time Michael Bentt. That loss also cost him a massive payday as well against Bowe or Holyfield I believe.

Michael Bentt's reign consists of 1 loss to Herbie Hide so that's right up there with the worst of the worst.
