Friday Facts - Featuring Flatley Empty Friday Facts - Featuring Flatley

Post by Il Gialloblu Fri 11 Jan 2013, 9:01 am

I learned recently that Michael Flatley won the 1975 Chicago Golden Gloves at 135lbs.

Is this common knowledge? I was surprised but couldn't find a way to shoehorn it in anywhere on here... until now.

If you have any facts or trivia that you want to get off your chest, this is your thread.

The only rule is that it should be in some way connected to the previous fact posted. So the one following this should ideally have something about Flatley, Chicago, Golden Gloves, 135lbs etc. Hopefully more of a link than someone won something once anyway... you get the idea.

This could go anywhere, it could go nowhere, but hopefully we'll learn something.

First fact again:

Michael Flatley won the 1975 Chicago Golden Gloves at 135lbs.

That's:

Michael Flatley won the 1975 Chicago Golden Gloves at 135lbs.

Off you go.

While the south-east of the UK had an arid May, the north and west were very wet. There was less than 25% of normal rainfall in parts of East Anglia, but Cumbria and the Western Highlands had three times their average.

In 10 years, it is claimed by French scientists that there may be no bananas. Panama disease and black Sigatoka are 2 fungus types devastating plantations. It appears they are yet to find resistance in any type of banana.

The pollinator populations have been on the decline for the last 30 years and 20% of the UK's cropped area is made up of pollinator dependent crops.

In other words there are not enough Bees and we're screwed!

Norman Wisdom is fondly remembered in Albania, as is Lord Byron who used to live at Newstead Abbey which is really close to where I'm from.

I once got stung by a bluebottle jellyfish in byron bay. Had to lash on my own leg but it didn't make a difference. Full of hippies and pot heads that plcae. Oh, and Paul Hogan owns a bar there - got chucked out of it as I was in a party with a couple of loud mouthed Americans.
