Preaching to the converted!
Who are the great improvisors of the boxing ring. I am talking about fighters who hardley needed much instruction from their trainers no matter how great their trainers were.
Some fighters need guidence in a fight based on tactical direction and gameplans. Others need a slap on the backside to encourage them yet there are and were fighters who just need a trainer there for the sake of being there most of the plan a, b and c would come from the fighter themselves.
Can you guys think of any examples?
Ali ? Naz ? Leonard?

Yeah defo Camacho.
I can't imagine there was a trainer who would let their charges for battle with a style like the Macho man's.

Not really.Leonard never really needed Dundee. You,re blowing it son was as much as Dundee could offer Leonard and if I am correct Leonard edged Dundee OUT of the training camp for Haglar which upset Dundee but he just used him for the actual fight for encouragement.

Dundee had little to no input in the Haglar fight. Leonard chose someone else to train him for that fight and practically trained himself with regard to tactics.

i dont think any fighter would be where he was today without good trainers, but once top of his game floyd would be the obvious one. remember between rounds of the ortiz (i think) fight when mayweather snr was absent from the corner, one of the corner men told floyd not to panic, and floyd scowled back "i aint panicking" followed by 1 minute of silence.
