Who's better than CM on the mic....?

Would have posted this in the CM thread, but that got.... messy. And so:

Is there anyone that's better than CM on the mic? Stone Cold in his prime? The Rock, Edge, Jericho? Possibly Dixie Carter when addressing the TNA locker-room?

Scott Steiner is the best talker of all the times. He's in a league of his own. But for everyone else, i'd rank them like this....

Chris Masters isn't the best on the mic, or are we talking about CM Punk?

Think MR H's list is very hard to argue with, I would have Rock #1 though, and perhaps Austin higher.

For me the only guys better on the mic than CM Punk are Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Roddy Piper, Jake Roberts, WORYAH! and Scott Steiner.

Stone Cold Steve Austin was brilliant on the mic. I can't see that CM has anything on him to be honest. I would put The Rock up there and Flair in the 80's was just awesome on the mic. Ken Anderson/Kennedy top at the moment.

Its great how opinions differ so much. See i dont rate Anderson whatsoever but think Punk is the bogs dollocks. The world would be a very boring place if we all agreed though eh!

He just makes it into my unbiased top 20, if I was being Biased Savage, Pillman, Scott Hall, Christian, Edge and Bret Hart (97) would have been there and possibly Warrior

CM dogs Love sacks? Not at all!! The whole 'Randall' rudey poo he is totally ripping from William Regal by pronoucing peoples names properly!! See Anderson is class because it is just in your face brashness. In the industry there is no-one like that IMO. CM and Orton are just too alike in terms of mic work and it doesn't work at all. When CM did the whole 'Straight Edge' society it was good and it should've been a platform to elevate him and it hasn't happened. When I see CM I see Randy Orton when he did Legacy the whole 'high and mighty' thing and not sacrificing himself.

Though he is better than Cena

I think Road Dogg is vastly overrated to be fair, he had a good catchphrase but couldn't promo for toffee, his catchphrase was so catchy, brash and in yous face it disgused it well

I think it's a big shame that he was a tag teamer for so long (but hats off to him for remaining so), he's shown as 'Bully' Ray that he can hold it alone , it's just a little late in his career for him to make it (39), though saying that JBL's single career didn't really start until he was 37 after a lifetime as a midcard tagteamer.

Does anyone know why he left the WWE?

Bubba is his own worst enemy though to be fair, The WWE where seriously considering pushing him as a single but his attitude stunk and he was so out of shape he'd be gassed in minutes, he has always been a great talker tho

As far as I'm aware the Dudleys were just part of a big cut at the time (15 I think may have gone), issues then began over the name of Dudleys etc as WWE owned ECW rights and Bubba didn't take it too well (he'd been a big pain backstage as well prior to leaving while D'Von has always been a decent bloke apparantely).
At some point though I hope he patches things up with WWE as I've always thought he'd make a great commentator once he calls it a day in the ring.

One I'm hoping to see get some mic time in the near future is Jon Moxley, he's shown quite an old school heel style in his video promos that he can spend a good few minutes talking to the camera which most modern guys would struggle to manage.

Or a great GM, He reminds me a lot like Heyman

The Warrior was brilliant. I don't what he was on about, but I agreed with him.

I think Brother Love and Paul Bearer deserve a mention. The Brother Love Show and Funeral Parlour were great segments.

Agree with you on Moxley Hero. I just worry that the WWE would ask him to tone down a little but and the majority of the crowd just wouldn't get his promos. He is a genius on the mic though.

I suppose it is the difference of learning the trade in front of small intimate crowds where you can riff off their reactions more compared to learning in front 10k+ fans.

The comparison I would draw would be to stand up comedy... Ricky Gervais "learned" standup in front of vast crowds and hence has little interplay with them - while others like Ross Noble have large amounts.

Ta, analogies for their own sake can be pointless as they rarely actually hit the point that the person is trying to make and just divert attention from the salient information... that said, coming up with a good one is a great thing to do!
